This is computer generated blather with locations mispronounced- poor. ### 1/5 — Not as expected… *2023-08-05, version 1.0.3* Not relaxing; not soothing; not the old Radio4 LW style I was expecting. If I had known, I’d have passed this one by. An App for the “deleted” pile. ### 1/5 — Computer voice *2019-09-13, version 1.0.1* It uses a computerised American voice instead of the warm real voice used on radio. So completely and utterly useless. Worst app I’ve ever downloaded and I’ve downloaded some bad apps. ### 1/5 — Nice idea, but.... *2018-07-27, version 1.0.1* Yes, I'm a "dyed-in-the-wool-BBC Radio-4-until-I-die" person. 😄 However: as a regular insomniac, one of reasons the shipping forecast is so soothing is entirely down to the intonation. A synthesised American text-to-speech voice misses the point by an margin almost incalculable! GET RID OF IT - please. Also, is this app actually the current forecast? I couldn't tell. Clever connection with the health app. It is something the Met Office or BBC should have done. However, I only seem to be able to get an American synthesised voice - "Fordies and Crowmardy". Part of the charm of the forecast is the calm voice that reads it, lost with this systhesised voice. ### 1/5 — Er, what is relaxing about this? *2017-08-02, version 1.0* A digitised voice is hardly reminiscent of the shipping forecast is it? I listen to the shipping forecast all the time and I totally agree; it is poetic and very relaxing to listen to. However, not in this app. A digitised voice can never be considered relaxing, it grates and jarrs - in short it's horrible. Furthermore, the poetic element has been destroyed by adding text that isn't in the original. Part of the mystery of the shipping forecast is that those who are mariners know what the different elements are and those that don't, don't care.
