## What is ShootCal?

ShootCal is the calendar app made by a photographer for professional photographers and content creators. Plan portraits, weddings, minis, and real estate shoots around the light that makes them great, and let clients book you online. Everything syncs to your Google Calendar and Google Contacts, so you are never locked in. No subscriptions.

Feature Highlights: Online Booking Page, Website Availability Embed, Wave & QuickBooks Deposit Sync, Contracts with E-Signatures, Client Photo Galleries, AI Calendar Import, Golden Hour Scheduling, Custom Session Types, Deposit Tracking, Client Reminder Emails, Reports, ShootCal Web, Apple Watch, Tides & Weather.

Online Booking on Your Own Website
Embed the live availability calendar on your own site (Squarespace, Wix, WordPress, anywhere) as a clean month grid, or share your booking page link. Clients see open days (never names or details), pick a time or send their date, and the request lands in the app. Accept and it is booked, with the client saved. Instant booking and contact-first modes are available per session type, and the whole page is styled to blend with your website.

Wave & QuickBooks Sync - New
Connect Wave or QuickBooks Online, and when an invoice is paid the matching booking's deposit is marked received automatically. Read-only: ShootCal never changes your books.

Contracts Your Clients E-Sign
Create a wedding, family, or custom agreement from a built-in template, prefilled with the client, date, and package. Share the signing link and track it from draft to signed.

Golden Hour on Autopilot
Set a session to start before sunset or after sunrise and ShootCal schedules it automatically, with sun times right on the calendar. Studio-hours and fixed-time modes cover indoor work.

AI Calendar Import
Scan your calendar and build your client list automatically, with each client matched to a session type and their booking history. You review everything before it is saved.

Custom Session Types
Reusable presets for families, seniors, minis, engagements, weddings, real estate, and more. Each has its own timing, booking rules, price, and cover photo on your booking page.

Deposit Tracking + Client Emails
Green paid / red unpaid right on the calendar. Connect Wave or QuickBooks Online and a paid invoice marks the deposit received for you. Optional confirmation emails when a deposit is received, and automatic reminder emails before sessions, sent from your own Gmail.

Clients in Google Contacts
Names, emails, and booking history live under a "ShootCal Clients" label in your Google Contacts. Synced everywhere, never locked in.

Client Photo Galleries - New
Deliver and proof finished photos in beautiful online galleries with ShootCal Galleries on the web. Clients sync by email, so delivered galleries, favorites, and print orders show on the client record in ShootCal Web. Free to start.

Follow-Ups via Google Tasks
Gallery deliveries and check-ins created automatically from per-type templates, linked to the client, and synced through Google Tasks.

Tides, Weather & Sun
Sunrise, sunset, weather, and coastal tide times, right where you plan the shoot.

Google Calendar Sync + ShootCal Web
Two-way background sync. Create, edit, send invites, and track acceptance without leaving ShootCal. Your data stays in your Google account, and the ShootCal web app gives you the same calendar, clients, and booking tools in any browser, with apps and web always in sync.

Apple Watch & Widgets
Your whole month at a glance on iPhone and iPad, plus your next session and its countdown on your watch face and home screen.

Built by a Photographer
Two decades of shooting weddings led me to build my dream calendar app. Native Swift, light and dark modes, Shortcuts support, and on-device Apple Intelligence for plain-English event entry. I respond to every piece of feedback.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.8.13 — 2026-09-02

Create a gallery for a session straight from the session's own screen.
Booking requests that are past their date are now listed apart from pending ones.
Fixes a crash when deleting a session type, and a case where adding one could leave you with a duplicate.
Signing in with Google no longer hangs if the app moves to the background partway through.
The agenda opens on today after a cold launch, and a day with no sessions of its own now names the multi-day session still covering it.
A location containing an ampersand now opens the right place in Maps, and repeated location suggestions are gone.

### 1.8.12 — 2026-08-11

Send a contract or an invoice straight from a client, or from a saved session — the ShootCal website opens with everything already filled in.

Your client's contracts and their status now appear right on the client, so you can see what's signed without leaving the app.

Plus a refreshed accent color and general polish.

### 1.8.11 — 2026-08-10

Fixes in this update:

Your client list could stop loading and show a Google Contacts error. It now loads correctly.

ShootCal could show you as signed out of Google after the app had been open for a while, and only force quitting brought it back. It now reconnects on its own.

A brief network or server problem no longer signs you out of your Google account.

### 1.8.10 — 2026-08-06

Fixes a sign-in issue where the app could appear signed out when returning from the background until it was force-quit and reopened. Also brings clearer Save and Send Invoice actions in the event editor, improved disabled-button feedback, email validation before calendar saves, and a refreshed adaptive ShootCal color palette.

### 1.8.8 — 2026-08-03

Improves event saving by validating client email addresses before sending requests to Google Calendar. Also streamlines deposit tracking with ShootCal invoices.
