### 3/5 — Good, but

*2025-03-04*

Overall i love the idea, but it doesn’t look “refined”. It doesn’t follow standard Apple UI design and so is not super user-friendly. I also wish there was a way to pay a one-time fee to get rid of the ads.

### 4/5 — Does the job

*2025-03-04*

Simple and quick. 4 only because I’m sure it can become a little slicker.

**Developer response:** Hi,

Thank you so much for your review! We're always working to improve the app and hope to earn those five stars from you in the future.

### 4/5 — Edit option needed

*2025-02-28*

I use this app all the time, but I recently added a product title and needed to edit it due to AutoCorrect issues on my phone. I also added information about where is imported from and That also needed editing. Montreal changed to MONT ROYAL.

**Developer response:** Hi,

We appreciate your review and completely agree that the editing option needs to be implemented to allow for these changes.

Thank you for your feedback!

### 2/5 — I love the idea of this app

*2025-02-23*

Unfortunately you can’t edit if you find more info on something that you’ve added

**Developer response:** Hi Song,

We recommend updating to the latest version. You can now add your own product ratings, and we've introduced a comment box for additional product details you can add as a user.

Thank you for your review!

### 4/5 — Has potential

*2025-02-21, version 1.2.0*

There are a lot of barcode scanners out there that will do the same thing. One could also simply look at the product labelling. I would however like to see the scanner produce alternative products. “This product is not Canadian, however look for these instead….”

### 3/5 — Good but ads are in the middle of everything

*2025-02-18*

This is a decent app but try placement of a QR scan app is annoying and deceiving. Also the ad is right in the middle of the screen. I’d rather pay a couple of dollars rather than see ads all the time.

**Developer response:** Hi,

Thank you for your feedback. We are exploring alternative revenue sources to replace these ads and kindly ask for your patience as this may be implemented in upcoming updates.

Thank you for your review!

### 4/5 — My second opinion (after a week of use)

*2025-02-17*

I like the idea,, I get that it will take some time to build up the database,, maybe future updates,,, have a user input for a shopping list, that would suggest Canadian options

**Developer response:** Hello,

Our product directory is constantly evolving, and we’ve noticed that many items involve multiple countries in their production and distribution. For instance, a product might be manufactured in one country but labeled as packaged or distributed in Canada.

To enhance accuracy and streamline product searches, we've introduced a user feedback feature. This allows individuals to contribute details that will assist future searches, helping others access shared information without the need for extensive online research. Additionally, we’ve implemented a 5-star rating system to indicate how closely a product is associated with Canada.

With the continued support and patience of our users, we aim to expand our directory with more precise and up-to-date product information.

We glad you enjoy the app.

### 3/5 — American advertisements

*2025-02-16*

It’s ironic to download the app and the first ad - which I selected to support the app developers - is an American online therapy company. C’mon guys.

**Developer response:** Hello,

Please understand that we have no control over the ads that appear. However, our team is actively working to remove misleading ads, reduce their presence, and ensure future ads come from credible Canadian sources.

Thank you for your feedback.

### 4/5 — Good app

*2025-02-15*

This app is a great starting point, it has many areas it can work on, specifically the user input and correctly identifying Canadian products, but it’s a great app and quite helpful

**Developer response:** Hi,

Thank you so much for your kind review! We’re working on breaking down these product specifications, as we know they’re important for users to know.

We appreciate your feedback!

### 2/5 — Could be good

*2025-02-15, version 1.1.0*

This app could be good but for me it always says no info available
Even on basic items like Pepsi

### 2/5 — Expand Database

*2025-02-15, version 1.1.0*

This app needs to broaden it’s database. Scanned 15 items I have at home and it only returned useful information for 2 of them. Most are products from North America too.

### 4/5 — Great Idea!

*2025-02-14, version 1.1.0*

Pouvez-vous faire votre application en français? I would loved to share it with friends and family in Quebec! ⚜️🇨🇦🍁

### 2/5 — Inaccurate

*2025-02-14, version 1.1.0*

This app states that most items are Canadian when the label clearly states the product is from USA. Easy to use which is why I gave it 2, not 1 stars.

### 4/5 — Great app but…

*2025-02-13, version 1.1.0*

Glad they made this it’s super useful. Would prefer it if it didn’t have ads and was instead supported by a tip jar approach. Also needs to add a manual option for typing company name to enhance from just scanning barcodes.

### 3/5 — Camera

*2025-02-13, version 1.1.0*

Like the app and appreciate it. I would like to have the option to turn the camera off when not using the app. So only 3 stars at the moment.

### 2/5 — Good idea, but not very accurate

*2025-02-13, version 1.1.0*

I have only used it a half a dozen times, but it has been wrong half the time. For example Colgate prevident label says it’s a Canadian company, but when I called to ask, the call is routed to an American office, and I was told the product is made in The US

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not accurate

*2025-03-13*

A LOT of clearly US products are claimed to be 5/5 Canadian.
Deleted and got a better app that’s clearly made my Canadians

### 1/5 — Phishing scam ads

*2025-03-09*

Watch out for the ads which look like phishing scams. I just got one saying “phone memory full”. My phone has lots of free memory. I didn’t click and immediately deleted this app.

**Developer response:** Hi,

These ads are not affiliated with us—they are managed by Google, and we do not have direct control over which ones are displayed. However, our team is actively working to remove any misleading ads. We encourage users to exercise caution and only interact with ads they trust.

Thank you for your review, and we hope you give the app another try soon!

### 1/5 — Rip off

*2025-03-09*

Don’t waste your time. Require Q reader for $12.95 to work. So disappointed. Other apps works way better

**Developer response:** Hi,

We appreciate your feedback. We want to reassure our users that no QR code app is required to use our application. Our team is actively working to remove any misleading ads to ensure a better experience for everyone.

Thank you for your review.

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2025-02-28*

The data base is really small, barely it recognizes a product,a lot of pub…do not download

**Developer response:** Hi Marius,

The database currently includes around 200,000 products and is expandable through user contributions—there's no limit to how many products can be added by others. Our team started the initial database, but as a small team based in Edmonton, we've only covered local grocery stores so far. We encourage others to support the app by adding products from their local stores.

Thank you for your review!

### 1/5 — Not accurate

*2025-02-22*

I downloaded three apps to compare for assessing Canadian content. Unfortunately this one was unable to identify the craft beer made in Victoria BC. (Only one app passed the test). Deleted this one.

**Developer response:** Hi Shira,

Thank you for your review! This app is community-driven, so while some product ratings may be inaccurate, users can contribute by adding their own ratings and comments. This helps adjust the product score for future users.

### 1/5 — Not Accurate

*2025-02-16*

Scanning shows Canadians when it is a product of USA and made in USA on many products

**Developer response:** Hello,

Think of this app as a collaborative platform, similar to Wikipedia. If a product has limited information or inaccurate information, users can contribute by adding their observations based on the details listed on the packaging. This helps enhance search results for others who look up the product in the future

Thank you for your feedback

### 1/5 — Click Bait

*2025-02-15, version 1.1.0*

Was not impressed that I needed to download a advertisement QR Scanner. The app should have been able to do on its own.

### 1/5 — Bad

*2025-02-15, version 1.1.0*

Installed the app and was immediately besieged by ads which I could not yurn off! Very bad app!

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2025-02-13, version 1.1.0*

I downloaded this app and it rarely works, plus the ads are constantly in the way.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-02-13, version 1.1.0*

It got the first two things I scanned wrong so I deleted the app. It said Canadian potatoes were not Canadian and German hand cream was Canadian. Just read labels, people!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Go Canada!

*2025-02-21*

I like this app. While a bit clunky, it is improving. I love that as users we can add to the database. This will be a powerful tool over time.

One suggestion: I’d like to see a NO maple leaf option. Non-Canadian products don’t deserve a maple leaf.

Great work. Thanks for putting it out there.

**Developer response:** Hi Eric,

You're absolutely right about the maple leaf suggestion! We truly appreciate your feedback and are considering it for future updates—stay tuned.

Thank you for your kind review!

### 5/5 — Love!

*2025-02-17*

Love this, exactly what I needed!

**Developer response:** Hello,

Our recent update focused on addressing any issues users may have encountered at launch. We recommend refreshing the app and trying again.

Thank you for your feedback! We're glad you're enjoying it so far, and more improvements are on the way.

### 5/5 — The best app on the market

*2025-02-15*

This app is incredible. Yes it does have its kinks that are being worked out (as all apps do) but it’s is precise and with real people reviews for products. The simplicity of the app makes it’s a must when grocery shopping. I can’t imagine doing my grocery shopping without it

**Developer response:** Thank you, Jake, for your kind review! We're glad to hear the app is working out for you.

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2025-02-15, version 1.1.0*

I managed an entire grocery shop without a single US product purchased using this app.

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2025-02-14, version 1.1.0*

Great App. It’s accurate almost all of the time. It’s impossible to be 100% accurate given the intricacies of made in Canada and distributed from a Canadian company. As for the comments about the adds, I have no idea what others are seeing. These adds just float at the bottom of the scanner. Just like we should support Canadian made products, we should also support positively our young Canadians. Good work young guys/ seen you on the news. Good luck!

### 5/5 — Awesome app. Support the devs!

*2025-02-13, version 1.1.0*

To those who aren’t happy about the ads:

This app is not free to maintain. Having the app listed in the Apple App Store alone isn’t free. An Apple Developer account is required to host your app on the App Store, which is a subscription that costs $100 USD per year. The advertisements are this app’s only source of revenue. By putting up with the ads, you are supporting this handy app’s existence.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2025-02-13, version 1.1.0*

Just what I was hoping for! More guarantees of the accuracy of the info would be great of course, so hopefully we get there. In the meantime this is an amazing start! Thank you!

### 5/5 — Helpful

*2025-02-12, version 1.1.0*

Used the app for the first time today and it made my shopping so much easier. I appreciated not having to research every company for each product I wanted to purchase. Instead, I just scanned the barcodes on the app and was informed of whether the product was Canadian or not. I also like that the users can add products to the database. It’ll make the products get on the app way faster!

### 5/5 — Amazing thought

*2025-02-12, version 1.1.0*

This is great. Being able to include the country of origin will let us buy Australian goods but not US and use this in the future if we are threatened by another nation in the future. You are awesome.

### 5/5 — Great Useful App

*2025-02-12, version 1.1.0*

Good job guys! The QR option works amazing and I love how people can help reviewing products and supporting with input! Well done!
