But you try to search something and the loading circle will go for ages and either finally load or just crash. Or it’ll just crash out of nowhere when you click on things quickly ### 2/5 — Brilliant app but with severe iPad issues in recent times *2025-12-18, version 1.0.26* Love Shotdeck. And growingly rely on it to pitch and share ideas. Recently the iPad app has started crashing every time I enter a search term. No apparent fix - despite trying literally everything support have suggested to me. I understand it's a niche community and contributors would be limited but the search and the tags need a lot more data. Not that it's not already happening. We're not just there yet. This is also a petition for the devs to make a widget of some sorts that cycles random shots throughout the day. Would really love that as a big widget as I unlock the phone. Great work, still, guys. Images take too long to load and sometimes they won’t load even with substantial internet connection. Using ShotDeck via the website is more efficient. But when ever I try to look up for more shots, the application would shut down itself Hope u guys can work on it, keep it up!! ### 3/5 — iPad version crashes too much *2024-07-30* I am using the iPad 10th generation 64 gig which is still sold currently by Apple. When I’m swiping through full sized photos the app entirely crashes, so I have to slowly swipe to the next image or risk it crashing and me losing all my progress. It’s quite disappointing since the less iPad-friendly web version doesn’t have that issue. Just burned 2hrs saving images to a deck within the app and they’re….. not in the deck. The app is crashing repeatedly. It’s just simply not stable. Guys, I love the service. Have been subscribed for years now, but on location with an iPad and the app is not cutting it. It has a good framework/layout but there are several bugs that are really making the usability suffer. Thank you! ### 3/5 — Good but not worth the cost *2024-03-14* While ShotDeck is probably one of the most comprehensive and easy to navigate shot libraries and I can appreciate that the subscription model isn’t the same as other predatory models that require you to put in your card and charge you without warning, the price for the actual subscription is absurd. After my free trial ended I considered paying for the full thing since I really liked the program and expected the price to be reasonable but was shocked to find out I either have to spend $100 a year for the yearly subscription or $13 a month for the monthly subscription, I have subscriptions to streaming services that are less than half of that price. While, yes, certain functions such as the search function or color palette are very useful I don’t see any worth in paying $13 a month for them when there are website where I can find high quality movie screencaps *for free*. The cost here is just plain disappointing. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — I have a subscription outside my iPhone but apparently can only login to the app with an Apple ID? *2026-08-29* Signed up for a free trial on my MacBook and decided to subscribe. Learned there is an app on the phone but… it wants me to create a new account with my Apple ID… what? Nope. Now this asks if 16 or older and then wants you to create an account with Apple ID. Why? What? Huh? I already paid with a CC and now there are new hurdles? Don’t update. I love the service, but the iPad app crashes every time you use search. It is unusable. ### 1/5 — Won’t allow me to sign up or log in *2025-09-03* I’ve already put in both my email and password both with autofill and manually and it hasn’t worked. I pressed forgot password to reset it and log in to the app. It just keeps saying that it will send me a password in my email and when I checked it and there was nothing there. I even checked my spam and trash to see if maybe it went there and there was nothing. Then I checked every other folder in my Gmail and even searched “ShotDeck” in each one to see if there was anything but there was nothing. I’ve repeated this process over 5 times and nothing has worked, I hope this issue gets resolved soon or in a future update. This app works fine for me and I love it so much!! ### 5/5 — Faulty *2024-02-21, version 1.0.7* I really like the concept of the app and wanted to keep the ratings high however doing to much on the app leads it to shut down, small things like searching cause the app to fail. however its a very helpful piece of kit and helps me with my presentations. ### 5/5 — Great tool for cinematography *2024-02-16* I use ShotDeck in the browser at work almost every day. Either as random ‚screen saver‘ for inspiration or for serious research of lenses, framing, color and lighting references. The ShotDeck guys are real professionals and now exactly what people need to create decks for their projects. The library of the best movies ever shot is immense. The App brings all this in an intuitive way to your pocket. ### 5/5 — Incredible App - Kudos to the SD Team *2024-02-15* Not only is the app extremely user-friendly and comprehensive, but it’s just very well designed and sleek. I LOVE being able to change the thumbnail size while browsing and selecting and adding multiple images to a deck while browsing. Sometimes I need to find something quickly and sometimes it’s a more casual browse so I like being able to switch between these. Understandably there are some issues that need to be addressed: 1) periodic crashing (typically when choosing to browse similar shots) and 2) the quick add doesn’t seem to work yet. But overall very happy and ya’ll deserve 5 stars. ### 5/5 — Essential for filmmakers *2024-02-15* This is a great app for filmmaking research, making pitch decks, creative inspiration, designs, everything!!
