### 4/5 — Good but frustrating

*2025-07-20*

There is very little support so when things go wrong it can be frustrating. The app stopped syncing with apple health in may and I can’t get a fix. I wish the money I pay would be used to create a help desk

### 2/5 — No longer works

*2025-06-05, version 5.7.2*

Used quite happily for a couple of years. This no longer works with my Dexcom G6, after I paid my annual subscription, however if you download xdrip4ios on which shuggah is based, that works absolutely fine.

### 3/5 — Bluetooth Option

*2025-06-05, version 5.7.2*

Since the most recent update when changing a sensor you can no longer add/scan/update it from the main screen which is a pain. I have found the solution if you go into settings, enable developer settings the Bluetooth option is there, silly!

### 2/5 — Was good.

*2025-05-25, version 5.7.2*

I recently paid for Shuggah Pro and since then the Bluetooth button has disappeared so it’s now a real pain to stop and restart a sensor. PLEASE bring back the BT button to the Home Screen.

### 1/5 — Stolen

*2025-05-21, version 5.7.2*

Releasing stolen work is not good Karma

### 1/5 — Add Sensor

*2025-05-18, version 5.7.2*

They removed the option to add a new sensor. Crazy! How can you use it for more than 2 weeks???

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-05-16*

Continuously, 3 days after pairing my sensor, shuggah will stop reading for the rest of the duration, despite still being paired on the Dexcom app. And while there used to be a way to check the connection of your CGM and manually disconnect and reconnect within shuggah, there isn’t anymore. The developers aren’t sure how to fix these issues because this is stolen software they’re wrongfully charging people for. I paid for a month (like an idiot) because the alarms are extremely useful for me, but given out of the month i paid for i only got to use the app for a total of 8 days before it stopped taking readings, i will not be paying another month, and will be filing for a refund as the app isn’t as described. Either create your own software that you know how to run and fix and can rightfully charge people for, or stop charging people for software you stole and don’t know how to fix. Simple.

### 1/5 — Suddenly Paywalled

*2025-05-14, version 5.7.2*

Alty does not write the code behind Shuggah. They have forked xdrip4ios. It was initially agreed that Alty would never charge for it.

So Alty added a paywall. None of the funds contribute to the open source project yet Alty expects them to provide support for their now paid app.

What do you pay for if none of the money goes to the developers who make it and support it? Well, you just get ripped off.

Don’t pay for this. You won’t get support from Alty. The support responses you will get from the xdrip4ios group is to switch to the free xdrip4ios app through their TestFlight.

### 1/5 — Terrible changes makes it unusable

*2025-05-13, version 5.7.2*

You can no longer connect to a new sensor. Used to be free now all behind a paywall. If you are going to make customers pay for it at least make sure your app works. So stupid to remove the Bluetooth function. We don’t care that you added WhatsApp integration just make the app work and remove the paywall.

### 3/5 — Complicated to understand, questionable that it does the job

*2025-05-12, version 5.7.2*

Relatively easy install, but for the basic things I need it doesn’t seem to fit the bill.

1. I want it to read the data and send it to my Apple Health. Every minute. Or five minimum. But after the initial download of 12 hours, it seems to have stalled with over a half hour before the next read. That ain’t gonna cut it.

2. Watch app. Needs to continually update glucose level in the complication. Not every hour or two, but in real time.

I’ve got six days left for trial. I’m likely to cancel if this doesn’t start working.

### 1/5 — Stopped working.

*2025-05-12, version 5.7.2*

I paid for a year of this app only for it to stop working. There is no option any longer to pair my CGM to the app. I’d like my money back.

### 1/5 — Moved to Zukka

*2025-05-11, version 5.7.2*

Paid a lifetime prescription and then they change to monthly and won’t connect to sensor with no communication. If anyone else has this problem move to Zukka app, it’s exactly the same but free and works.

### 1/5 — Keep reinstalling after deleting!!!

*2025-05-11, version 5.7.2*

Keeps reinstalling after deleting my app completely! Did not work or link!!

### 2/5 — Initial Scan still an issue

*2025-05-10, version 5.7.2*

Great app and the Apple Watch feature is unlike any other - with frequent notifications. I would gladly have paid the subscription fee - but it’s been days since I’ve applied my sensor and I cannot connect the CGM on initial scan. I have tried and persevered, emailing the developers for some help, but have now decided to cancel my subscription.

Hopefully they are able to resolve the issue, but from what I can see from other reviews this has been ongoing for some time with no update or communication from the developers.

### 3/5 — Need to put the Bluetooth connect options back on main interface

*2025-05-10, version 5.7.2*

Hi, purchased the pro a while back. Been using it for ages. Recently the Bluetooth connect option disappeared. It is still there but buried within the developer options. Please put it back so it can be access easily to add a sensor.

### 4/5 — What happened to Bluetooth button?

*2025-05-10*

Okay been using this app for a few months now. Been very happy and I have no issue paying for it for the year. It’s reasonable. But for goodness sake, why move the Bluetooth button off the main page and add it to the Dev section? How is this useful in any way? I’m not a developer, I’m a user! Put it back please.

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2025-05-09, version 5.7.2*

Now made to pay for what was a free app. After paying the app never worked. Never shown true live readings. Moved to zukka which is the old version of this and FREE!!!!

### 1/5 — Can’t figure out how to activate new sensor after update

*2025-05-09, version 5.7.2*

The user comms from this app are an absolute joke and I just cancelled my subscription. They keep issuing updates that require you to follow different processes to do things. They make no announcements and offer no guidance. The trust is lost for me and really bad devs if they think it’s OK to change a medical app and then expect users to just figure it out.

### 3/5 — Worked for years, now doesn’t

*2025-05-08, version 5.7.2*

Worked really well for over 2 years with no really any issues , until I’ve put a new sensor on today and can’t connect it whatsoever to the app. The Bluetooth option has been deleted on the app so I can’t connect my new sensor. Hoping in the next couple weeks this issue is addressed cause I quite liked the app for it’s functionality of being able to see my levels on the front of my iPhone and work on my watch, but now it seems the app has stopped working or connecting to a sensor

### 4/5 — Bluetooth icon

*2025-05-05*

This is a great app but for some reason the Bluetooth icon is gone. I eventually found it hidden in a weird part of the settings called developer settings. What is the point of hiding the Bluetooth icon!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Nah

*2025-08-07, version 5.8.1*

Use xDrip4iO5 or Zukka. They’re free.

### 1/5 — New better option available

*2025-07-31, version 5.8.1*

Heard these guys went behind devs back to charge money for an app that used to be free. They just released a new version called Zukka that runs just like this one but doesn’t disconnect, isn’t shady, and is free! Hope the quick money grab was worth it.

### 1/5 — Unable to scan sensor

*2025-07-24, version 5.8.1*

Paid for premium which they don’t deserve as they just use xdrip4ios but my beta link ran out. It doesn’t even let you scan your sensor…. How is this feature removed it makes no sense 😂

### 1/5 — Very Disappointed

*2025-07-21, version 5.7.3*

*Look for the Zukka app to get an unpoluted version of xdrip4ios for free!*

I used this wonderfully for several months. It cost nothing then, and the code behind this app was taken from a publicly available, open source project. They took the code, compiled it into an app and got it into the App Store. Since it was publicly available code, it made sense that it was free and they offered the ability to pay a tip. But now they have changed it to a PRO model requiring payment for capability you could get for free a week ago. There are easily available TestFlight invitations out there to use the original code *more up to date than Shuggah* for free and your feedback goes straight to developers. Dump these guys. They told the developers they wouldn’t do this. Very disappointed

### 1/5 — No instructions to connect

*2025-07-12, version 5.7.3*

If you get it to connection, GREAT and you’ll get lots of useful data, but when it’s time for your next CGM…forget about it. It’s not going to connect, no instructions, and even when I pay MORE for the next subscription level, that didn’t help. It’s a trick and a lie and super useless. I’m so disappointed.

### 1/5 — Garbage Software Dont Waste Your Insulin Money!!!

*2025-07-01, version 5.7.3*

Such a letdown it does nothing different than the meters free app does it does even less, dont waste your insulin money on this software

### 1/5 — Stolen from xdrip

*2025-06-09, version 5.7.3*

Basically just the title, this application is stolen source code from the xdrip developers and uploaded to make a profit off of others labor.

### 1/5 — It will not connect to Stelo

*2025-06-06, version 5.7.2*

After the first time of connecting to the Stelo it would never connect again so as soon as you change your cgm this app becomes useless

### 1/5 — Калл

*2025-05-30, version 5.7.2*

Отвратительное приложение, как и его издатель. Надеюсь орешник придёт к тебе в гости 😉

### 1/5 — What’s wrong?

*2025-05-24, version 5.7.2*

I had used this app for almost a year before it became a paid subscription. I subscribed because the info was so useful. Now I cannot get it connect on Bluetooth. No longer have access to pair sensor manually. I have paid for a yearly subscription that is of no value. This product is worthless now.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Only one of its kinds

*2025-05-02*

People are complaining about having to pay for this app, but when you realize the kind of work that goes into it and the great support they provide, it is totally worth it. As a developer, I understand how much effort to require requires so I’m more than happy to support a great app with great service. Also, the cost is very reasonable.

This is the only app that I found that has good dashboard support, and Apple Watch support.

### 5/5 — Good App

*2025-04-15*

I got this app as I couldn’t get Stelo to work on my watch. The app reports the sugar level every 5 min over Stelo which is every 15 min. I think it’s also helpful that the A1C level is reported and I don’t have to check the chart. The $10 annual fee is worth it if you care about your health.

### 5/5 — Excellent Alarm Functionality

*2025-03-15, version 5.7.0*

I use a Dexcom One and although the sensor is really good, the Dexcom App is rubbish. The Shuggah App is excellent for its alarm functionality, which is really important for waking you up at night when your sugar levels are low/heading low fast. It is also great for allowing you to see sugar levels via your Apple Watch.
Excellent App🙂

### 5/5 — Awesome but sometimes temperamental

*2025-03-13, version 5.6.2*

I use this all the time as I can have my sugar level on my apple watch. It’s indispensable for me and so much more useful than Libre’s official app. The only issue I have had is getting it to connect to the sensor in the first place.

I did find a solution in the end which was to quit all other apps when connecting- seems to work first time then! Opening up the other apps afterwards doesn’t seem to affect it- it’s just during the initial connection it’s an issue.

### 5/5 — Perfect!

*2025-02-05*

I was hoping to find an app that had lots of info just like when I had Nutrisense a while back. Shuggah is that app! Just enough details, not too much. A1c, ability to adjust glucose levels more. So far it surpasses the native Stelo app and Clarity. They probably will take note of this app and buy them out!

### 5/5 — Good app!

*2024-12-18*

This is a good app for people with diabetes. Would be great if you could add a night stand landscape mode and an option to not show the graph! It would also be great if you would respond to emails! Willing to leave a generous tip!! 😊

### 5/5 — Game Changer for Hypoglycemia

*2024-12-15*

I usually don’t review stuff, but this app is waaaaay better than any of the other built in apps for CGMs. Unlike the Stelo, it’ll actually provide me my measurements under 70. Absolute game changer for chronic hypoglycemia with the wide range of notification settings.

### 5/5 — Awesome App with Stelo

*2024-12-06*

I have been using this with the Stelo app which reports glucose every 15 minutes, but with sugar, I get it every five minutes and I can view it on my watch and announce my glucose intermittently from the phone during the day. I love it. I’m surprised it doesn’t have more reviews. Thank you for such a great app.

### 5/5 — 希望进一步汉化

*2024-11-14, version 5.4.2*

App子项目中英文较多,希望进一步汉化

### 5/5 — Almost perfect!

*2024-11-13*

Syncs perfectly with my dexcom stelo but recently the “time in range” metric always reports “100%”, even though this is not the case. Otherwise an incredible app!
