## What is ShutterCue?

Lightning-fast camera settings reference.

Modern mirrorless cameras have hundreds of menu items. ShutterCue gives you a confident starting
point instead: pick your camera and lens, choose what you're shooting and the light you're in, and
get a ready-to-dial ISO, aperture, and shutter speed — plus the exact Nikon Z menu settings for the
moment and plain-language advice on why.

No account. No internet required. Just fast, trustworthy answers in the field.

WHAT YOU GET
• A ready-to-dial exposure: ISO, aperture, and shutter, solved for your gear, scenario, and light.
• The right Nikon Z menu settings: AF-area mode, subject detection, drive/release mode, and metering
  — automatically reconciled to what YOUR body actually supports.
• Plain-language advice: why these settings, and what to watch for (it'll tell you when ISO is pinned
  or the light is fading).
• Two ways in: "Dial It In" (you pick the gear) or "Gear Me Up" (tell it the subject, it suggests the
body, lens, light, and time of day from your kit).
• My Gear: add the cameras and lenses you own and everything filters to what's in your bag.
• Profiles: save your favorite setups for one-tap recall.
• Tap any value to fine-tune it, and tap "Why these settings?" to learn the reasoning.
• Share a recommendation as text — perfect for notes, a shoot plan, or helping a friend.

BUILT FOR NIKON Z
ShutterCue v1 is tuned for Nikon Z bodies and a growing catalog of Z-mount and FTZ-adapted lenses
(Nikkor Z, plus Sigma, Tamron, and Viltrox). It understands variable-aperture zooms, the crop factor
on DX bodies, in-body stabilization, and how AF features differ across bodies.

HOW IT WORKS
ShutterCue blends curated, photographer-authored knowledge with real exposure math (the APEX
exposure triangle, the reciprocal hand-shake rule, and the 500-rule for stars). Same gear + scenario
+ light always gives the same answer.

These are expert starting points, not a replacement for your light meter. Check your histogram —
ShutterCue gets you in the ballpark fast so you can spend your attention on the photograph.

Offline-first. Private by design — your gear and profiles stay on your device.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4.1 — 2026-08-20

Sharper recommendations, smoother feel.

• More accurate settings in tricky light — in very dark scenes, ShutterCue now opens up the aperture before maxing out ISO, and is more honest when a tripod shot needs a clamp.
• A little more tactile — subtle haptic feedback when you pick your gear, scene, or light.
• Ask scrolls more naturally while you're reading, instead of yanking you back down.
• Bigger, easier taps across the gear bar and light picker.

### 1.4.0 — 2026-07-13

Ten new scenarios — the catalog doubles to 20:
• Night & Sky: Fireworks, Moon, Aurora, Night Cityscape
• People & Events: Weddings, Concerts & Stage, Parades & Festivals, Kids & Pets
• Action & Nature: Panning/Motorsports, Waterfalls & Silky Water

Long-exposure guidance: creative slow-shutter scenarios now hold your shutter and recommend the right ND filter strength instead of compromising the shot.

Bigger gear catalog: now 14 camera bodies and 59 lenses, including more Sigma, Tamron, and Viltrox glass.

My Requests: asked us to add a lens or body? Track it from Received to Added right in Settings.

A cleaner Guide: once you've picked a scenario it tucks into a compact bar, so your exposure settings and light options share one screen — easier to adjust as the light changes.

### 1.3.2 — 2026-07-12

Big gear catalog expansion — 4 new camera bodies and 21 new lenses!

NEW CAMERA BODIES
• Nikon Z6, Z7, Z50, and Z30 — full support for the original-generation Z lineup, including crop-sensor bodies

NEW LENSES
• 14 NIKKOR Z lenses, from the everyday 24-70mm f/4 S to fast primes (50mm f/1.2 S, 35mm f/1.4, 20mm f/1.8 S), the do-it-all 28-400mm f/4-8 VR, and super-telephotos (400mm f/4.5 and 600mm f/6.3 VR S)
• Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8, 17-70mm f/2.8 VC, and 150-500mm VC VXD
• Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary
• Viltrox 13mm f/1.4, 16mm f/1.8, and 75mm f/1.2 Pro

ShutterCue now covers 14 camera bodies and 59 lenses. Every new combination gets the same tailored recommendations — dialed-in ISO, aperture, and shutter for your scenario and light, plus the right menu settings for your body.

Don't see your gear? Request it right from the app (My Gear → Request gear) and we'll work on adding it.

### 1.3.1 — 2026-07-11

What's New in 1.3.1

Don't see your lens or camera body in the catalog? Now you can request it!

• New: Request gear — tap "Request gear" at the bottom of the gear catalog to ask for a lens or body you'd like added. We research each request and add verified specs in a future update.
• Fixed: sharing a profile now links straight to the App Store when the recipient doesn't have ShutterCue yet.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-07-07

Sharing got an upgrade!

• Shared setups and QR codes are now real web links (shuttercue.app). If you have ShutterCue, tapping one opens the setup right in the app.
• Friends without the app? They now see the full shared settings in their browser, with a link to download ShutterCue.
• QR codes from earlier versions keep working.

Under the hood: security hardening for the Ask assistant and a cleaner Settings screen.
