Sometimes it almost works! It is also written in Swift which is the best language ### 1/5 — Don’t work *2022-03-27* Just straight up crashes, doesn’t even open **Developer response:** This is a known issue on iOS 14, but we’ve so far been unable to locate the cause of the crash. Thanks! ### 1/5 — What happened? *2022-01-21* More of a survey than a tracking app **Developer response:** I’m assuming that you’re referring to our new crowd-sourcing feature. Unfortunately, RPI started using many new buses that don’t have GPS trackers in them, so we built a crowd-sourcing system to make up for the fact that we otherwise have no way to show those new buses on the map. That’s why the app always asks that you tap the “Board Bus” button; doing so lets us use your real-time location to make Shuttle Tracker more accurate for everyone. (Shuttle Tracker respects your privacy by design; tap the info button in the top-left corner of the app to learn more about how we protect your privacy with the crowd-sourcing feature.) Shuttles often disappear on the map and it takes a while to reload. Sometimes the app is fine but other times it simply does not work. **Developer response:** Unfortunately, the shuttles’ disappearing is due to more limited location data that we’re getting this semester, mostly with the Yankee Trails buses, for which the only location data that we have is crowd-sourced. This issue affects both the app and the old website. The whole point of the crowd-sourcing feature is to improve the accuracy for all of the buses, especially the ones that don’t have any GPS hardware on board. We’re actively working on new features that make crowd-sourcing even easier. In the meantime, remember to tap “Board Bus” every time you board the shuttle! Once you join the Shuttle Tracker Network, we can show you where the buses are even if you never tap the Board Bus button! • Join the Shuttle Tracker Network to unlock Automatic Board Bus! Your phone will communicate with Shuttle Tracker Node, our custom bus-tracking device, to detect when you board a bus and to activate the crowd-sourcing functionality. • Your privacy is protected by removing all identifying information from location submissions. Shuttle Tracker never tracks your location when you’re not physically riding a bus. • Receive push notifications when new announcements are posted. • Opt in to analytics collection to help our team plan new features, changes, and bug fixes. To protect your privacy, this feature is off by default. • We have a new logo, a new app icon, a new accent color, and a new map design! This is the biggest update to Shuttle Tracker with the most significant improvements in accuracy and tracking coverage since the introduction of the original Board Bus feature. If you haven’t been using Shuttle Tracker recently, then give it another try! ### 1.6 — 2022-12-19 We’re releasing this update to prepare for some massive improvements that we plan to deploy early next year. • Shuttle Tracker now automatically detects errors and uploads diagnostic logs when they occur. You can see a record of recently uploaded logs or disable automatic uploads entirely in Settings > Logging & Analytics within the app. • We’ve made many small design improvements throughout the app. The new logging system is the first step towards an entirely new initiative that will dramatically increase Shuttle Tracker’s tracking coverage. It also changes the bus-selection sheet to show the suggested bus ID in the main ordered grid of bus IDs in addition to the suggestion section. ### 1.5 — 2022-10-21 Our next big update is here! Shuttle Tracker is ready for the Fall ’22 semester. • With our Dynamic Routes feature, you’ll see different routes separately on the map, each drawn in a unique color. • Unviewed announcements are now highlighted and are no longer included in the badge number, so you’ll know what’s new and what you don’t need to re-read. • The re-center button now ensures the complete visibility of all routes on the map. • We’ve made some minor design improvements and fixed some bugs. That’s all for now, but we have more big updates coming soon.
