### 3/5 — Works, but power hungry of late

*2026-03-25, version 2.0.22*

App works well but after latest updates seems to consume a lot of battery if left running, even in the background. Not sure exactly what it's doing.

### 4/5 — Illumination handbook

*2025-11-22, version 2.0.20*

I love comparing product output in this app but the accessories are so inconsistent and missing. Specifically for COB lights across Aputure and Amaran, it’s difficult to get consistent comparisons because various lights in the app are missing reflectors, fresnels, and soft boxes. Every COB light in the app should at minimum include output info when using included hyper reflector and a standard light dome softbox.

### 2/5 — Can’t even register

*2025-03-15, version 1.9.52*

Been trying to register an account for the last 15 minutes and the app wont let me make an account!

### 2/5 — Not all light options available

*2025-02-21, version 1.9.52*

I’m using this app with the Amaran f22c and f21c and the Expand CCT option is not available. The lights also have 15 effects and only 9 show in the app. I emailed support over three days ago but no response. This is definitely not the same quality customer service that Aputure has.

### 1/5 — Perhaps the most confusing app ever

*2025-02-20, version 1.9.52*

I just want to have my 200d fade from 100% to 80% over the course of 10 minutes to simulate the sun setting in a timelapse and it seems virtually impossible somehow. Maybe with the Sidus Link Pro app, that for some reason is not compatible with the 200d but this app is??

### 1/5 — Not enough info about privacy

*2024-12-02, version 1.9.52*

I don’t understand why this app has to send any of my data to Sidus/Aputure. When I run the app for the first time it says it will collect a whole range of data, including device data (is that my iPad data or my lighting data?). All I want is a simple bluetooth control. Also, all the reviews on the Apple app store are very old. Does anyone have anything good to say about this app lately? Until I see more information about this, I’ll do without the app and look elsewhere for any additional lights I might need in the future.

### 3/5 — Decent app; need a macOS version

*2024-09-26, version 1.9.51*

It would be amazing if I didn’t have to pull out my phone every time I wanted to turn my lights on and off if I’m already at my computer.

### 1/5 — Violating app store policy

*2024-08-31, version 1.9.40*

Requiring camera permission to adjust Bluetooth lights? Why? Reporting to Apple

### 2/5 — Camera access unnecessary

*2024-07-26, version 1.9.40*

Why is camera access needed just for dimming control???

I don’t need the color picker feature, the app shouldn’t be restricting basic app functions due to camera access.

### 1/5 — I gave up im 64 years its not me its my age I guess

*2024-06-29, version 1.9.30*

Complicated

### 2/5 — Client is rolling their eyes and checking their watch…

*2024-06-22, version 1.9.30*

…because Sidus Link logged me out again and I can’t log in.

Guys, come on!

### 2/5 — Update

*2024-05-24, version 1.9.30*

Forcing me to do an update on a project isn’t what I’d expect out a professional light or lighting software.

### 2/5 — Disappointed in Amaran

*2024-05-13, version 1.9.30*

Disappointed that they just gimped the Pt*C tubes. No support for Sidus Go for a $400+ tube. I mean the $60 light bulbs are supported had to return them and go with another brand

### 3/5 — Disappointed PT c does not support "GO"

*2024-03-30, version 1.9.25*

Very disappointed that the entire PT#C of tubes is not supported by the "GO" feature. So if you think you'll be creating nice flowing effects with these tubes, you won't. Just know MT-Pros and 150C's are supported. Will support be updated to support "GO" & PT#C?

### 1/5 — Bad, like really bad

*2024-01-01, version 1.9.23*

This thing connects once fine but will disconnect and make you look like a moron who doesn't know what he's doing. I'm embarrassed to use these lights that's how bad the app is.

### 2/5 — Connectivity a real pain

*2023-10-10, version 1.9.21*

App features are great, but collaborating, sharing, groups, whatever - the app just doesn't connect to both collaborators' devices at the same time, which defeats the point of collaborating. Devices need to be reset every time otherwise you just can't connect to them.

### 2/5 — Multiple devices?

*2023-09-19, version 1.9.21*

The app works great, but it only lets you login with one device at a time. I have the HD app on my iPad and the regular one on my iPhone and I have to re-login every time I use it from a different device, despite paying for ProPremium. This is a very frustrating feature.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — This app sucks

*2026-02-28, version 2.0.22*

Won’t connect to my lights.

### 1/5 — Horrendous cashing issue

*2026-01-19, version 2.0.22*

The app is unusable as a momentary switch to another app (iOS 26, iPhone 17 pro max) causes disconnect with the fixture and re-connection takes forever. It seems like the app simply fails to cash enough memory in ram and reloads all the time you leave it for a second. Very frustrating and impossible to use.

### 1/5 — Lost All Settings

*2025-11-22, version 2.0.20*

I don’t know what happened or they updated the app but I lost all access and settings to all my lights. Super annoying to be adding everything again.

### 1/5 — The worst app

*2025-11-15, version 2.0.10*

I don’t know they made this

### 1/5 — Connectivity loss makes for a terrible experience

*2025-10-17, version 2.0.10*

Amaran F21c is what I have paired. If I leave the iOS app for more than a minute, when I come back to it, it takes ~10 seconds to establish connection, then I need to go back into the correct folder, then the correct project, then I have my light controls back. I thought the LumeCube app was bad, but Sidus/Amaran is way worse. At least Amaran saves your state/connection in the app… I can come back to that app after an hour and the light controls are still there, so I can quickly toggle a light on/off.

### 1/5 — Cannot log in…

*2025-08-15, version 2.0.01*

My email address is 21 characters long and the login text field caps the character count at 20. This would be such an easy thing to fix.

### 1/5 — Quick shots keeps crashing

*2025-07-07, version 1.9.72*

Whenever I open the quick shots menu the app crashes. Can’t use any of my presets.

### 1/5 — Pay Wall Added!

*2025-06-18, version 1.9.72*

Why is a Paywall being added in order to use the app?!? Ridiculous!

### 1/5 — No Alexa compatibility in 2025

*2025-04-20, version 1.9.52*

It’s really annoying that you cannot turn on and off your light with Alexa. Isn’t that the main point of a light’s Bluetooth app?

If I have to open up my phone to turn my light on or off, I might as well just walk over to my light and touch the on/off button.

Unfortunately, there is no workaround using a smart plug. I tried with Kasa. You can turn your lamp off with your voice. But if you tell Kasa to turn your lamp on, it will just turn the power on. You have to walk over to your light and turn it on manually.

Neither Aputure nor Sidus advertise that you can turn lights on and off with voice control. But, I think this is the main functionality that people would assume and want from an app.

I bought the $420 Aputure LS 60X Bi-Color. I would think that at that price point, Aputure could add Alexa voice control to their app.

### 1/5 — Spyware! Return the lights!

*2025-04-08, version 1.9.52*

This scum company doesn’t think getting your money is enough and they require your personal data to be able to control the lights you already paid for. Just say no and return the lights.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Jade Jones

*2025-06-07, version 1.9.72*

An amazing interface and easy to use!

### 5/5 — Fabulous App!!

*2025-06-07, version 1.9.72*

One of my favs to work with in a low budget small shoot!!!!

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2025-02-27, version 1.9.52*

A one man band shooting interviews. Controls of multiple lights from my phone at camera!! This is magic and bye bye unions!!!

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2023-05-17, version 1.9.15*

I own an LS 300x and I love the light. And with Sidus Link, I can have full access to all of the light’s features in the palm of my hand. When I’m using the fixture, sometimes I don’t have easy access to the physical controls found on the ballast. Being able to change intensity/CCT, or trigger effects from a distance makes using the light so much simpler.

### 5/5 — Game Changing!

*2023-05-16, version 1.9.15*

Sidus link is a game-changing application that revolutionized my film lighting control. Brings a new level of conviene and efficiency to the filmmaking process. One of the standout features that I enjoy is that it seamlessly integrates with all of my lights in one program. Whether you’re working with a single fixture or connecting up to 100 fixtures I have the control of them all in my hand.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2023-05-16, version 1.9.15*

I downloaded Sidus Link and I don’t regret it. It provides capabilities that have made my life easier as a filmmaker. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to control their lights in an easier more effective way! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

### 5/5 — BEST APP

*2023-05-16, version 1.9.15*

I’m in love, this is the most amazing app ever! Helps with my lights so much. My grandkids love it! I’m not good with tech nology but This has made it so easy for me to take pictures with the family!

### 5/5 — Amazing program

*2023-05-16, version 1.9.15*

Sidus Link has been great on all my film sets. Never had major slowdowns and it’s great that I can change my lighting in groups so quickly. Great app!

### 5/5 — Connects all my Aputure kit

*2023-04-24, version 1.9.15*

Love this app!

### 5/5 — Highly Recommend!

*2023-04-20, version 1.9.11*

I love being able to control all my Aputure and amaran lights in the scene from one app, and be able to access unique features and controls!
