Suffice to say I was more than impressed. There's quite a lot this game has going for it if you've played the originals. There are all sorts of callbacks and call-forwards to the previous and subsequent games and even to other Infinity Engine RPGs of the era. Many characters from BG1 make an appearance, and given the thinner writing on party members in the first game some of them get their first real times to shine. The new party members are quite enjoyable, and the story for the most part is pretty good. Sadly the story contains my two biggest issues: first that the end of the game can feel like you've suddenly been railroaded into a no-win scenario, which is sensible given it needs to set up Baldur's Gate 2, and the endings can still feel varied because of the actions of your party members and NPCs to how you are railroaded, so to speak. Second is that the villain's plot comes off as somewhat contrived, given the willingness of hordes of gullible masses to follow what is by all accounts a fool's errand with no hope of success. Google can help you or many players ### 3/5 — Bug with scripts still a problem *2022-02-18* Hello - great port of a great game. But there’s still an unfixed bug that’s been around for several years. If you export a character, and import them into a new game (which I do when making custom party’s, as I make a few characters, launch a new game, then change my mind about half of them before we even go anywhere…) it completely breaks their scripts. I have a party of 4, and only the character made at the start of the New Game casts their long-casts defensive after rests (Advanced AI) and the others refuse to - no matter what other settings I change. There is a fix, implemented by players only for the pc version as it makes use of the command console. But the console, and mods in general, aren’t natively supported in any easy way on iPad. It’d be great if the devs could fix this? I’d say the ipad versions of the series are great to have when travelling - and that’s a huge plus. But without mod support, you are missing out on an absolute wealth of content compared to the desktop versions, and so you are paying for portability rather than content. If portability doesn’t bother you, get the desktop versions - because honestly, some of the mods are phenomenal. First two were because of phone calls linked to iPhone. Disabled. Last was because of keyboard icon in corner blocking stuff. C’est un jeu de bonne facture qui réjouira les fans en comblant une partie de l’ellipse entre les deux épisodes. Les personnages peuvent progresser de quelques niveaux, et peuvent être importés de BGEE et exportés dans BG2EE. La progression est assez linéaire et le scénario est probablement moins marquant que celui de jeux originaux, néanmoins le titre a des qualités indéniables : le scénario est cohérent , la bande originale de qualité, comme les textes d’ailleurs, qui pour le moment sont réservées à un lectorat anglophone. Cela dit le jeu sera loin d’être injouable si vous avez un anglais moyen mais si vous connaissez les mécanismes du jeu. These games are just such a pleasure to play, and while SoD lacks some of the explorative freedom and discovery of the earlier games, it still has great characters and all the little subplots that made the originals a blast to play through. I’d love it if they started another series, with new npcs and stories, regions to explore, etc. And maybe premade player characters similar to Divinity 2 or something like that. The story just seems more compelling when the character has a background rooted in the setting. And some kind of game editor. I’d buy all of it. I wouldn’t even wait for a sale. Anyway, try it out. It’s a great game, especially compared to most other rpgs on iOS. I mean, they got freaking David Warner to reprise his role from the earlier games. That dudes a legit Shakespearean actor. And there’s no coins or gems to buy to level up. You just play through the story like a normal human being, meet people and have adventures.
