As soon as you scan the 2nd item it blockes you. Telling you that you already scanned 5 items. You don’t even get the info of the 2nd scanned item. So, you only get 1 scan before they want your personal info and probably money. I decided to buy a diet and ever since then the app opens briefly and crashes. Glad it had a 3 day trial period, this is apparently garbage after you purchase it. ### 4/5 — Not buggy *2021-11-13* I have celiac disease so I can’t have gluten. I have tried a few apps like this one, but they are all pretty buggy but this one is not. It has a very large database and works very quickly. Would recommend. ### 2/5 — Constant crashing *2021-09-24* I’ve recently been put on a low fodmap diet due to ibs, and I figured this would be a great place to start. The only problem is that every time I went to scan an item, the app would crash. Every time I selected an item from the menu, the app would crash. The only reason I’m not rating one star is because it’s a really good concept, and there’s also a page that shows recommended foods for your diet, which gave me a good jumping off point. ### 1/5 — Scan! … Crash … Scan! … Crash *2021-09-07, version 5.96.8* I tried one of the paid diets (low fodmap) and the app stopped working. Crashes every time I scan an item or try and review previously scanned items. Their support page takes you to an email address, no troubleshooting or FAQs. ### 3/5 — Not good for FODMAPs *2021-08-06* I’ve only just used this app for the past day but it flags my low-FODMAP foods as non-compliant with the low FODMAP diet. Like…I’ve scanned Monash certified low FODMAP foods and the app says that it is high in FODMAPs when I know for sure it is not. Maybe good for other diets, I like the concept and design, but not reliable already. **Developer response:** Hi - Thank you for your feedback! There are a handful of ingredients that are considered low FODMAP ONLY if they are consumed in small quantities. These are a bit tricky for us as (1) food manufacturers aren't required to share ingredient quantities and (2) we don't know how much of that ingredient the person scanning the product is going to consume in a meal. The Monash certification process looks at quantity of ingredients used but, at Sift, we don't have access to that data. Our approach is to always err on the side of caution so Sift will always show high-FODMAP ingredients as non-compliant regardless of quantity. It was working great until this last update. I have been logged out and it won’t recognize my email. I have touted this ap to friends for years and I have about had it. Even after resetting password by entering 4 digit pin the app froze and wouldn’t launch. Restarting app again wouldn’t startup and freeze during initialization. I would go with the Bobby approved app instead, unlimited free scans. ### 1/5 — Froze just after install *2024-05-10, version 6.0.2* Installed the app, said I wanted to use as a guest, said I was “all set” but the screen was frozen. Deleted app and reinstalled and it goes right back to the frozen screen. Unusable. ### 1/5 — App freezes when I first sign up *2023-11-21* I went through the process of downloading app, signing up and verifying email. The app says I’m all set but is frozen and greyed out. I can click on the terms of service and that takes me to another page with the terms of service, so it’s not completely frozen. It just won’t allow me to start using app. ### 1/5 — Irritating *2023-01-30, version 6.0.0* I read in the plan information that there was a 3day free trial. I subscribed to the year plan to try it out and have access to the diets. It charged at the moment I subscribed. This is only a barcode app. I thought for sure I would be able to search the database. I would really appreciate a refund. ### 1/5 — Charges $2.99 per month for each individual thing! *2022-01-02* I downloaded this and signed up excitedly because it said you could select the diets you wanted to follow and then it would flag the foods you scan and tell you if they have ingredients that you shouldn’t have. As someone who is vegan + can’t have wheat, dairy or eggs because they make me sick and am also trying to figure out what else is making me sick, I was excited about this. But then after getting the app and signing up I find out that each of those things I would select would be $2.99 per month, which is ridiculous. If you're looking to unlock multiple diets then there is an option to unlock all diets for $39.99 for the year which comes out to around $3.33 per month. I have since waited and installed the past 3 updates which did not resolve the issue, also uninstalled the app and reinstalled again it’s been continually happening so I have cancelled my subscription and uninstalled the app permanently. Very disappointed they could not fix a paid app within 6 weeks. Not wasting any more money **Developer response:** Hi - Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback. Soup for example omg all the chemicals so now I buy broth and add my own stuff to it 👍.I’m not paying for the extras but if I could afford it I would. Swift allows me to scan a barcode and see whether or not food is compliant with I know nightshade diet. I would like the app to flag which ingredient is the noncompliant one. I hope this is a feature coming soon or that may be it already does it and I just don’t know how yet. Will restaurant food to be added?
