## What is Sight?

A sight singing app based on the degrees of the scale (Do Re Mi So La Ti Do). Singers who use this system are more likely to sing in tune, and don't need 5 years music theory or lessons in an instrument to be able to read in any key! It is a more musical way to sight-sing than trying to calculate intervals.

From beginner to intermediate, this app teaches the main notes of the major and minor scales, and explains why some notes are more difficult to find than others. Select any voice for Treble, Bass and Tenor clefs. (Tenor as Treble an octave lower).

Each of the 108 exercises can be adjusted up or down, to practice recognizing the structure of the scale on different keynotes, or to suit the compass of your own voice. Touch any note at any time to hear it, or press play to hear the whole melody.

This app is especially aimed at all those who sing in choirs but don't have enough piano knowledge to learn their own notes, or those who can find their notes on a piano, but want to be able to sing at first sight. Play any chapter over again, check in different keys, or sing the excercises backwards for extra practice!

Also some advanced tools for adjusting temperament and microtuning - making this app more accurate than a piano or keyboard.

This app uses the Kodaly/Curwen solfa syllables, but uses all-new excercises, introducing the notes in an order more useful for standard western harmony, in particular the pivot between Minor and Major.

** There is an occasional Bug with the sound of this app, that occurs only when the Side-Switch is set to Mute /at the time the App is Downloaded/. To correct, re-download with the side-switch set to Auto-Rotate. Once downloaded and opened once, the side-switch can be reset to Mute/un-Mute as desired.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2014-08-29, version 1.1*

Does not actually test your ability to sign melodies at sight. Just plays crappy midi sounds at you. Does not use your microphone to test your skills... This app is worthless, and I want my money back.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 2.2 — 2020-12-09

Updated for more recent iOS.

### 2.1 — 2017-10-16

New Choice of Sounds: **Piano** or Legato synth sound, plus improvements to the resources pages.

This app is not a random tune generator! The value of this app is in its careful and structured progression. It introduces groups of notes in combinations that are most common in real music, allowing you to learn to recognize and sing them in any key. The app plays you any single note that you touch, steps through the exercises one note at a time or plays the whole melody. It currently uses the standard Kodaly/Curwen symbols, but focuses more quickly on major and minor than the traditional Kodaly method, so as to be more immediately applicable to standard choral repertoire.
(This app does not record your voice - it plays reference pitches for your own comparison.)

### 1.1 — 2014-03-10

Bug fixes for iOS7 crashes, plus new feature to pick up where you left off. Many thanks to our customers for crash reports and suggestions.

### 1.0.0 — 2013-12-28
