### 4/5 — Could be better

*2013-09-11, version 4.0.2*

A quiz (spelling test) option would make this app a five star.

### 5/5 — Great App, has made homework a much more pleasant task

*2013-08-22, version 4.0.2*

My 6 year old enjoys using the app to learn her sight words. I love that the lists are customisable. We add new words as her teacher gives them to her.

We use the flags to mark words she doesn't know and the stars for new words; sometimes we only go through these words.

Also love the ability to record over the original recordings as some of the American pronunciations confused my little Aussie!

A great app

### 4/5 — Great App!!

*2013-08-04, version 4.0.2*

My 6 year old daughter is loving this app and enjoys using the app rather than a word ring with more than 150 flash cards on it!

I do wish that when you 'bump' word lists with another phone (my husbands for example) that the stars and flags also bumped, as she then has to start over on that part. But do really like this app! Thank you

### 4/5 — Absolutely love this app!

*2013-07-27, version 4.0.2*

My son (5) and I use this together all the time -- this is by far our favorite way to practice words. He can use the app on his own as well and know how he is doing with the great voice recordings of all the words.

Two reasons why this isn't a 5-star app for me:

- While the shake feature is great, I want to be able to turn it off!!! We find ourselves half way through large lists and then accidentally bump the iPad...
- We love the stars and the flags. I'd also like to be able to limit to words in our list (especially helpful for large lists) to those without a star or a flag.

Overall, excellent app. Tons of great features and easy enough for my son to work himself.

### 5/5 — Fantastic App!

*2012-12-10, version 4.0.2*

I'm so glad to find a sight word app that is customizable. We are working on going paperless as much as possible and this replaces tons of tiny flash cards!

I love the fact that I was able to take the list sent home forms school and create that list here. No more looking for the flash cards!

We can do this together or he can practice alone. A little bit of both is perfect for us. Some list app either don't read the words or don't give the child a chance to say the word. This list gives them as much time as they need because they just press the word when they want to here it spoken. You can even record your own voice if you prefer your child to hear you instead of the preprogrammed voice!

Another bonus is the stars and flags allow me to note mastered and words he's struggling with. We flip back and forth between the list types and it allows me to sneak in extra practice where it's needed.

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2012-11-29, version 4.0.2*

I have used this in my prep class for the last 12 months and I believe it has contributed to so many of our kids learning their 200 magic words. The thing I love the most is the ability to shuffle the order by shaking. No more memorising lists in order! Kids can also practise without adult support as they can touch the word for instant feedback. Lists can be merged or customised creating an entirely personalised learning experience for my kids. You can even add digraphs etc and record the sound they make so its not limited to words!! $2 very well spent.

### 4/5 — SightWords Pro

*2012-11-17, version 4.0.2*

Thank you for another great app.. I have purchased 4 of your apps and love them all.. I would like to see you add pale colours for the background.. I find it much easier on the eyes... Cheers and keep up the great work....

PS...
I would love to see you make an app for building sentences using the same sight words... with the added ability to create your own sentences (3 - 6 words), with a recording option... :-)

Cheers!!

### 4/5 — Great learning tool!

*2012-11-14, version 4.0.2*

This is one of the better learning apps I have downloaded for my 6 year old son. I love that you can create your own lists and even record your voice if the word is not in the system already (there are hundreds) We take books our son is learning to read and make lists out of the hard words soon he has mastered the book and gains confidence in his reading ability.

The only reason I only gave 4 stars is the "shake to shuffle" feature is annoying as a 6 year old is bound to accidentally reset his list rather frequently. Would love an update that would allow this feature to be disabled.

### 4/5 — Good, close to great

*2012-09-21, version 4.0.2*

Good app for learning sight words. It would be nice to be able to name the custom word lists so that we can keep track of where it comes from. Daniel likes it and tries to improve so that he doesn't get flags or so that he removes a flag. Star words for instant recognition is a good idea.

### 4/5 — Excellent tool for site word recognition

*2012-05-24, version 4.0.1*

We use this app every day. I can create my own site word list and load it as flash cards. It allows you to mark the words he has trouble with and enables you to repeat only those words. My son is 4 and this is an excellent tool to teach the common site words.

### 5/5 — Fantastic App.. Highly recommend to all kids even the bigger ones.

*2012-05-14, version 4.0.1*

Fantastic App.. Highly recommend to all kids even the bigger ones. This has really helped my 6 year old with learning high frequency words. Well done..

### 5/5 — A must have app

*2012-02-25, version 4.0.1*

I use this app with my 5 and 6 year old, and I love it. It provides word lists by grade level as well as by topic (colors, nouns, numbers, etc.) you can also email and edit the word lists for students to use outside of the app if they need to. Very versatile app for parents and teachers.

### 5/5 — This is the one!

*2012-02-20, version 4.0*

I have not found a better word list app! I have bought many and this one has the most word complete word list I have seen and it is the easiest to edit. The only bad review that is accurate is randomization. I saw one that said "words to eAsy" ? What there are over 2000 words and you can make your own list. Hands down the best word lost app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Needs to be updated.

*2017-09-28, version 4.2*

I literally JUST bought this for my kid to practice for school. It was great...until my phone updated...now nothing. You should be ready for this...please fix it!

### 1/5 — Dull

*2013-10-17, version 4.1*

Dull, tedious, and monotonous.
Why would any child want to use this app?!

### 1/5 — Disappointing to see just 30 words included.

*2012-07-27, version 4.0.2*

I hope to see an update that includes more words very soon.

### 1/5 — Sight words ...

*2011-08-27, version 3.0*

YUCK !! This uses type case A's ... Which makes NO sense when trying to teach a child sight words .... NOT PLEASED AT ALL !!

### 2/5 — Great app needs updating!

*2017-09-27, version 4.2*

I paid money for this app 2 months ago and I really liked it, it works very well and I love the features but went to use it after the latest OS 11 update it won’t work. Please update it!!!!!

### 2/5 — New update Problems

*2017-09-24, version 4.2*

I have loved this app until now. I just updated my phone and now it won’t work. My kids use this for their school so I hope they update it soon.

### 2/5 — Good unless you need capital letters

*2013-11-21, version 4.1*

I was excited to find this app to upload my own sight words and record them being said. Unfortunately, our current list is days of the week and months of the year. The app wouldn't let me use capital letters. Deleted the app until this is fixed.

### 2/5 — No Swiping???

*2009-09-01, version 0*

I like the size of the words and the simplicity of the screen but there is no button to go back through the sight words. The swiping capabilty would allow me to go through a limited number of words and then go back to review them. Wish I'd known about this problem before I bought the app!

### 2/5 — Not Good

*2009-01-31, version 0*

very simple word.

"she, was" etc......

### 3/5 — please update the app

*2021-05-27, version 4.3*

It looks weird on my iPad Pro 11 in.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — I love sight, words pro

*2023-08-26, version 4.3*

One thing that I would love to see implemented is the ability to use text to speech. So you don’t have to record the words individually you could just have Siri say the words. That way you could have Siri pronounce the words for you, which would speed up learning. So hope text to speech or Siri integration could be added. Thanks

### 5/5 — Finally, a solution for my word blindness (alexia)

*2022-12-03, version 4.3*

I am a published author. I was able to write my five star book only through dictating word by word, and listening to my text as I wrote it. I am word blind after a brain injury. My goal after publishing my five star memoir has been to regain my reading skill. Words cannot explain my gratitude. This method combines mind, eyes and hearing practices. After years of trying to find a program that would help me, I Finally stumbled upon this one, and it works for me! Janna Wagner, author of “Quadruplets, a love story.”

### 5/5 — Well Worth The Money

*2021-11-16, version 4.3*

I’m not one to leave reviews on apps, and with the very small number of reviews, and many laps of the Sun ago, I thought my review (hopefully), will be of benefit to parents and educators looking for a great app such as this. Looked high and low for a simple app for sight words. Every country, state and school has its own curriculum for sight words so I found it particularly great that I could make my own lists, add my own words (including the AU English spelling), and could add my own speech/voice so that the word also reflected the pronounciation in our dialect/accent. $1.49 we’ll spent!

### 5/5 — Simple and direct

*2020-03-24, version 4.3*

Go get this app!

### 5/5 — Simple but functional

*2019-10-13, version 4.3*

Got this app to use with my first grader. There were a lot of other options, several more playful, but this won. First, many of the other apps were way more expensive. Second, this had way more word lists— dolch, fry, uk, au, legacy, and more. It was by far the most comprehensive I saw. I have a few other apps that function more as games, this one is simple mastery. It works, and I am very happy with it.

### 5/5 — This app

*2019-02-20, version 4.3*

Love this app has help my daughter go above and beyond in her class and reading level is literally off the charts thanks worth it go threw and instal the extra words

### 5/5 — Where have you been all my life!?

*2018-02-20, version 4.3*

Love love love this app. My boy is in year 1.. I wish I knew this app existed last year. Love that you can load custom lists that the teachers give you. Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2015-01-08, version 4.2*

I use this with my students daily!!!

### 5/5 — Sight Words

*2014-01-31, version 4.2*

Love, love, love this app! As a reading teacher I would recommend this app to teachers, parents and grandparents! My grand children ages 3-7 love using this app. I loaded it with their level and they like getting stars after they master words!

### 5/5 — Great app, just what I was after

*2014-01-02, version 4.2*

I wanted an app that I could use to help my daughter learn her 'Magic 100 Words' (M100W as taught in Victorian primary schools).
This was perfect for my requirements, all words are there and in selectable lists. You can display them in order, randomise the list and combine lists (good for reviewing the earlier words as they move on to the next level)
It shows the word, and when you click on the word it reads it aloud. Great functionality and my daughter loves it.

Also good support, I got answers to my questions the same day.
Very highly recommended.
