## What is SigilTTY?

SigilTTY is a fast, native SSH client and terminal for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Connect to your servers, run
commands, transfer files over SFTP, and open secure tunnels — with everything synced across your devices
  through iCloud.

Built on a GPU-accelerated terminal (powered by Ghostty) and the battle-tested libssh2 engine, SigilTTY
feels instant and looks sharp on every screen.

  CONNECT YOUR WAY
  • SSH with password or private-key authentication
  • Telnet for legacy devices and equipment
  • Serial console over USB on Mac
  • Jump hosts / bastion chains to reach private networks

  A REAL TERMINAL
  • Native, GPU-accelerated rendering — smooth even under heavy output
  • Multiple sessions with tabs
  • Beautiful, iTerm2-compatible color themes
  • Command snippets you can send with a single tap

  FILES & TUNNELS
  • Full SFTP file browser — upload, download, rename, delete
  • Background transfers that never block your terminal
  • Local (-L) and remote (-R) port forwarding
  • SSH agent forwarding — the app answers the agent protocol itself, with no extra setup

  SECURITY FIRST
  • Credentials live in the Keychain, never in plain text
  • Optional Face ID / Touch ID protection for private keys
  • Trust-on-first-use host key verification warns you the moment a server's identity changes
  • Key Handoff: hand a private key to another device over your local network, end-to-end encrypted and
confirmed with a verification code — the key never leaves your LAN
  • No ads. No analytics. No tracking.

  SYNCS EVERYWHERE
  • Your servers, folders, snippets, and keys sync securely with iCloud
  • Start on your Mac, pick up on your iPhone

  SigilTTY is free to download.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### v1.5.0 — 2026-08-19

What's New in 1.5.0

File Preview in the SFTP browser
• Tap a file (double-click or press Space on Mac) to preview it in place — no download needed
• Code and text open with syntax highlighting for 190+ languages, following light/dark appearance
• Images, PDFs, and Office documents render via Quick Look
• Large text files open instantly as a truncated head preview — load the entire file or download it anytime
• Previews fetch over their own connection, so they never wait behind queued transfers
• Preview data is cached per session and removed when the session closes

Note: the file-row primary action now previews; Download has moved to the context menu.

Improvements & fixes
• Opening the file browser from an attached herdr agent session now starts in the agent's working directory
• Fixed the sync status area taking up too much space in Settings › General

### v1.4.0 — 2026-08-17

Herdr Agents
• New Agents surface: every agent session you have attached to is now listed in one place (a root tab on iPhone, a sidebar section on iPad and Mac), with one tap to re-attach to the same pane. The list syncs across your devices via iCloud.
• Agent state now reaches you: a notification when an agent is blocked waiting on you or has finished, a status dot on the tab, and — on iPhone — a live indicator in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen.
• Offline push, opt-in per server: when the app is frozen or closed, a helper on your server delivers agent state changes end-to-end encrypted through a relay that cannot read them.
• Recent agent records now appear on the launch screen.

Voice input (iPhone and iPad)
• A microphone button next to the keyboard in attached agent sessions: tap, speak, and pause — the transcript is placed on the command line as typed text. SigilTTY never presses Return for you.
• Bring your own transcription service: OpenAI-compatible endpoints, Volcengine, or iFlytek, with keys kept in the Keychain. The latter two upload while you speak and answer as soon as you stop.
• Recordings stay in memory and are never written to disk. Settings includes a mic test that shows the transcript and round-trip time.

Terminal
• Pasting or dropping an image uploads it to the server and inserts the remote path on the command line.
• Fixes: touch scrolling in full-screen programs that capture the mouse; a crash when closing a tab while it was still connecting; a Face ID prompt reappearing during the brief window after a refusal on reconnect.

### 1.2.3 — 2026-08-11

• Fixed: keyboard input on iPhone and iPad now reaches full-screen apps like vim as real keystrokes
• Fixed: edits from your other devices now appear on Mac immediately via iCloud
• Improved: clearer iCloud sync status and error details in Settings
• Fixed a layout issue in the port-forwarding rule editor

### 1.2.2 — 2026-08-08

Host key trust is now global. Trusted fingerprints are stored per host:port instead of per profile, so duplicating a server no longer carries a stale fingerprint, and trusting a host once covers every profile pointing at it.
A new Known Hosts pane in Settings lets you review trusted hosts, copy fingerprints, and forget a host to re-verify it on the next connect.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-08-08

What's new in 1.2.1:

  • Security key sign-in: authenticate SSH sessions with YubiKey and other
    FIDO2 hardware keys (sk-ssh-ed25519 / sk-ecdsa) over NFC or USB-C —
private keys never leave the device
  • Dynamic Island: see live connection status and uptime in the Dynamic
Island and on the Lock Screen while connected
  • ZMODEM transfers: upload and download files right in the terminal
    with rz / sz
  • New Log Center: browse, filter, and export (redacted) connection,
    transfer, and key events
  • Reconnected sessions now start on a clean screen; fixed garbled
    non-ASCII output in remote shells
  • Assorted sidebar and iCloud sync toggle fixes
