I mostly use it when I have forgotten something and I need a quick find. Which is great. However the only issues I have is that it doesn’t say what region each sign is. Which is something that is important to know when learning. This would make the app quicker and easier to use. ### 4/5 — Great app to learn but needs more words *2021-02-21, version 1.1* Videos show the signs for words you can search for. Great. But I would love to see an update where, if you search for a word and it isn’t in the list of videos (which happens a lot) then you can send a sort of “suggest add” to ask the developers to create a video of that word for the list. ### 4/5 — Specify the region *2020-05-02, version 1.1* Loving the app. I’m currently learning BSL level 1, and this app is incredibly useful for gaps in my knowledge. However the ‘previously searched words’ are not mine, so each time I go on the app there’s loads of quick links to weird words. I want my previous ones to be displayed so I can refresh when needed. Some videos I have to watch again and again, but it’s all part of the fun. What bothers me is that there’s no sense of organisation, and the randomly generated list of words I was greeted with on the first time opening the app included the word ‘retard’. Was not heavily impressed with that. Being able to bookmark or sort words into folders of similar themes would be nice, or a list of all entries to help find a word if the one you search for has no results ### 5/5 — 🥗 *2018-04-15, version 1.1* I love it so amazing im not deaf but I am learning sign language for fun. However, I wish there was a ‘sign of the day’ feature. I would use it more as a vocab builder then. ### 5/5 — An excellent app! *2018-01-15, version 1.1* What an amazing app! I’m not deaf, but love to use BSL as a teaching tool to help scaffold learning, making language more accessible to visual and kinaesthetic learners. Sign BSL is not only easy to use, it’s comprehensive, dynamic, and the developers have worked hard on improvements, adding definitions to make signs more explicit. They’ve also added additional features eg zooming, to make for more accessible functionality. Finally, the support team are great! They are open to suggestions and are 100% responsive. Please stop crash bug *2018-01-12, version 1.0* Very good app has come in handy for my level 1 and progressing onto my level 2. But can you please please please fix the crash bug as every time you go to try another video of the same word screen goes black and crashes and you have to start all over again which is very annoying. However, it is disturbed by the app crashing after every video. Although their is often a few different versions I now recognise the guy I usually go with. Checked a couple of the searched words. Watched one video, then went onto another of the same word and it force closed. Done it again to another 3 words and all of them forced closed. It last 2-3 minutes on my phone before deletion ### 1/5 — Could be better *2017-12-14, version 1.0* I do basic sign language with my little boy and thought this app would be great for those words that I haven’t learnt yet but the app crashes after playing each video so I have to reopen it and search all over again. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.. ### 1/5 — Broken *2017-11-14, version 1.0* This app used to be really helpful with a variety of different signers to illustrate not just the vocabulary but the discrepancies that occur with the way people sign. Now, the app will open then crash as soon as I try to tap a second sign. It’s now useless. Please fix this. ### 1/5 — Waste time *2016-09-06, version 1.0* I ever see that is really pathetic when I notice that you sign coke which say cocaine which you say coca coke that don't specify match of drug sign. Also when I notice that has no feel like a robot look like you really not bother to teach them where is the feel. Last thing I have notice this look like SSE (sign support English), BSL (British sign language) look like mix up which is specific right group. There is no uniformity, no consistence. It is not clear at all and too many variations to one word or expression. Deleting this misleading app! ### 2/5 — Crashes *2017-12-17, version 1.0* The reason for only 2 stars every time I type a word the videos come up I click on it and app goes down so I go back on and type in search again this time I can watch one vid but if need to watch another goes down again so I am Constantly Have to go back into app repeatedly when it shouldn’t be closing down all the time. There’s definitely areas to be improved, as the other reviews suggested, but you really can’t beat a FREE resource like this! I really like how you can search what you would like to say and how if you scroll to the bottom sometimes it gives you other words which are similar. It’s really useful but i do wish you could like do a course and I wish it showed you key sentences like my name is and hello how are you so you don't have to search individual words. Bar those two things really loved it and would definitely recommend it. ### 5/5 — Good app *2020-05-09, version 1.1* This app is good but I think that there is only one problem, when you go onto search the suggestions are random words. I would like it more if instead of the suggestions it had your recent searches so you can refresh. But other than that, this app is great. I started learning BSL a few days ago and I used to always go on the website, and have to keep searching for it.
