This app is great for kiddos learning sign language and also reading. The signs are highlighted in the story and demonstrated clearly. It applies to a wide range of kiddos and makes learning to sign fun and easy! I recommend it for anyone who's teaching kiddos how to sign. Since the latest update, the app has improved significantly. It's added music and environmental noises--another great way to target speech (i.e. "What do you hear?" "What does a car sound like?"). It is a warm friendly message with a message that is accessible to all. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Bad ending *2013-05-27, version 001* Why would you end a kids book with a dog getting attacked by wolves? Pay to find out what happens to the poor puppy. Not cool. Also had problems with the book just skipping around for no reason I would end up back at the start of the book. As far as the sign language it was nice to touch the word and see the sign, but there was only 3 touchable words in the whole book. This book had potential but with their marketing strategy of trying to scare little kids to sell a book I will never download something from them again. ### 3/5 — Interesting Concept *2014-02-19, version 5.2* I have no deaf students, but my other students enjoyed watching and learning the signing of the words. ### 3/5 — Very Different App! *2014-02-17, version 5.2* This app had an interesting addition to a cute story, sign language was demonstrated for some of the words. The demonstrations were given by a young child, and that was an added bonus. I wish that there were demonstrations for more of the words, and the story was a little long. The story is a little long, but to incorporate learning signs in context of the story is logical and should be a great hook for learners. I’m not sure how happy I would be to know I had to purchase part 2 to find out the rest of the story, but I think it would be worth $1.99. It could use more signs associated with the story and there is a bit of a delay in between when they click on the sign and when the video plays. My 8 year-old granddaughter found the signing tutorial very intriguing. The first story offers signs for 26 words. Storyline & characters are marginal, leaving much to be desired. The apps strength is its primary objective of teaching sign language. Beneficial to classroom use. Worth the purchase. I like the embedded video for the signs. I would love to have, as an option, maybe an embedded video showing someone signing the whole story (All the words) perhaps in a small corner window while the story was read aloud, so children could see the beauty of this visual language.
