### 3/5 — What happened to Canadian Channels?

*2026-06-08, version 3.0.8*

First off I love this app.
I use it all the time to check my signal strength for my OTA antenna, but when I first got it the map showed Canadian stations so I was able to use it to point my antenna better. Now, after the last update (I want to say) the Canadian stations aren’t on the map. This is a feature that I hope comes back. Had to knock of a star for that.

### 2/5 — Doesn’t support fractional channels, otherwise kind of works

*2025-07-05, version 3.0.7*

I have hd pbs on channel 2.1 (and many others like it) but it isn’t able to support/find them.

### 3/5 — Doesn’t work for channels 4 and 5 (NBC and FOX) in the DC area.

*2024-11-29, version 3.0.6*

Doesn’t work for channels 4 and 5 (NBC and FOX) in the DC area. This was very confusing until I double checked the frequencies being dialed in on the tuners and they were off by >400MHz.

### 4/5 — GREAT!

*2024-02-08*

This app makes troubleshooting and optimization a breeze! From problematic tuners to problematic cable connections, to Splitters, preamps and antennas, getting complete data from the actual point of usage, after passing through the Entire system, makes diagnosing and resolution a quick matter. THANK YOU!

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind review.

### 2/5 — Not Happy

*2024-01-18, version 3.0.4*

App freezes and has to be restarted to unlock. We receive way more channels than what shows up in the app. App provides no value.

### 5/5 — A MUST for proper antenna placement

*2023-11-25*

The fact that this app samples many channels at one time is a wonderful advantage when placing an antenna because you can see the signal of all of the stations at one time. If you have trees, as most know, one station may work well at a specific height or location, and another may not. With this app, you can move the antenna around until you have ALL channels at 100% and your DONE! Takes the guess work out of finding the optimum signal location for your antenna. Very good!

### 2/5 — Major issues and Glitches

*2023-03-18, version 3.0.2*

This App Crashes constantly. Channel numbers are wrong. Experiments don’t work. Pretty useless. I recommend to skip this and use the HDHomeRun PC app. Lookup HDHomeRun_config_gui. It’s available after installing the pc app on your computer. I wished this worked. I gave it 2 stars because it is a great idea.

### 4/5 — Helpful app, few suggestions

*2022-10-27*

1. Add an option to leave the screen on when on the signal page. When pointing my antenna, it was annoying to constantly wake the iPad screen. Additionally, it would be nice if the app would still poll when the screen was

2. Tweak the UI so it’s clearer which circle is signal strength and which is signal quality. It was pretty confusing and I constantly mixed up the two.

3. Increase the signal polling frequency and store a longer history. I’d like to be able to review a longer dataset to ensure the channel is stable.

4. Plot signal quality levels on the signal chart by the reference lines. Also some indication to indicate loss of symbol lock on the chart would be real nice too.

Other than that, this app was extremely helpful in helping me find the perfect position for a high gain antenna in a cramped attic. Watching the signal graph made it easy to try different positions. The experiment page made it easy to determine which antenna/filter/preamp works best.

Nice work!

### 4/5 — Good dev response

*2022-09-20, version 3.0.1*

(See below for response)

I can no longer switch channel that I’m monitoring because the list of channels drop-down refreshes on every tick, so I can scroll it before it refreshes - scrolling me back - every time.

This is on an iPhone 12 Pro (not max).

### 5/5 — Fantastically helpful - get it!

*2022-09-04*

We have been using this app for the past few years to optimize our Mohu antenna for our HD home run. The app was indispensable for helping us figure out the best antenna location and continues to help with fine tuning and maximizing signal. I highly recommend the app - its fantastic!

### 5/5 — Makes Antenna Aiming Easy

*2022-08-15, version 3.0.1*

Using this app with my HDHomeRun really made it easy to re-aim my antenna and get instant feedback on signal quality without having to go up and down the ladder to check the signal on the TV.

### 2/5 — ATSC 3 support broke scanning

*2022-08-09, version 3.0.1*

I really like this app, but the latest version broke scanning. The app starts to scan and the stops with no channels (stations) found. Before this version I would have given 5 stars, but it’s useless now. Note, if I disable the two ATSC3 tuners the scan will proceed.
Note 2 - The email author option is disabled.

### 3/5 — New version takes some getting used to

*2022-06-25, version 3.0*

I have been using this app for years and it has been very useful. The new version has a few issues. Id like to be able to select an individual virtual channel eg channel 5.1 and have that displayed on the UI instead of the the broadcast channel. The hdhomerun UI lists virtual channels this way, and these are the ones everyone is familiar with. Why make more steps for the user to have to go and figure out the which virtual channel is assigned to the broadcast frequency and hide that under the menu, when you have got a continent of room above it if you just made the graphing smaller.

The old app worked that way and is way more intuitive and easy to use.

The signal meters on the new app are way too small. I used to be able to keep my iphone or ipad far away from me while adjusting the antenna. The old bar graphs were very readable that way. There is too much space wasted on the real time graphs, and not enough space for the channel status indicators which to me are just as important , if not more important when adjusting your antenna.

Can there be an option in the build to choose the old UI?

Also, there may be a bug here. The software allows one to change a tuner station even though its “in use” (locked).. This can potentially clobber other apps that are using the tuner. It definately clobbers my DVR. Shouldnt there be a lock out mechanism for the tuner when its in use by another app?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No longer works

*2026-07-02, version 3.0.8*

I’m having a problem with the app connecting to a HDHR Quatro. It used to work, but no longer does. It sees the HDHR, but won’t do a scan and quickly disconnects. There are no issues connecting to it via its web page or Plex. The problem exists using this app on iPhone, iPad, and AppleTV. Unfortunately there is contact information for developer support. Disappointed.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2026-02-12, version 3.0.8*

Completely non functional. Can’t detect HDHomerun unless IP manually entered. Then it promptly forgets it. If you do manage to get the scan to run it promptly freezes the app. Don’t waste your money. There is a reason there is no free trial.

### 1/5 — Not able to Locate HDHomeRun

*2025-08-02, version 3.0.7*

Based in all the reviews I thought I found Gold! Unfortunately the software can’t find my HDHomeRun 4k Flex - neither with auto discovery nor IP address. The HDhomeRun app in my phone finds it just fine and I can stream channels. Can’t find support to see how to fox - seems like I am out $2.99 - maybe this only supports older devices…

### 1/5 — app no longer works

*2024-11-18, version 3.0.6*

App says no tuners found, no “about” tab to contact author, 2 tuners are working but app says none found and no option to do anything but refresh which does not work, I wonder if the app stopped working in IOS 18? It worked before but not now, tried reinstalling

### 1/5 — Meter

*2023-02-02, version 3.0.2*

Put in IP4 address and still not working.

### 1/5 — No ATSC 3 support

*2022-08-05, version 3.0*

It says it does support with experimental but I see nowhere to choose those channels to see the strength. Since I had to pay for it I’m very irritated they lied about the support for 3.0. I have the hdhome 4K and I have the channels in 3.0 in my HDHomeRun app so I know I pick them up.

### 1/5 — Was better before the update.

*2022-07-04, version 3.0*

Not a fan of the new UI in 3.0. Yard to understand and read.

### 1/5 — crashes on 14.0.1

*2020-10-05, version 2.3.3*

crashes as soon as I enter the IP address. subsequent reopenings result in immediate crash.

### 1/5 — Generally unhelpful software

*2020-10-04, version 2.3.3*

The app crashes a few seconds after it starts. It never gets past scanning for a tuner. I’ve updated the OS, and rebooted the phone. Deleting the app and reinstalling doesn’t work either. It’s buggy software. Don’t buy it. I want my money back.

### 1/5 — Crashes immediately on iOS 14.

*2020-09-28, version 2.3.3*

Completely unusable and I’ll be looking for a refund if it’s not fixed ASAP.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Incredibly useful

*2026-06-19*

I had been grinding through optimization of my antenna setup using spreadsheets and hdhomerun_config when I discovered this app. Wow! Incredibly comprehensive data represented visually in real time. The ideal tool for what I want to do at a very reasonable price. Great app. Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — Superb diagnostic tool

*2026-06-12*

I rarely spend the time to write a review, but this is the app that convinced me to spend the time. I was trying to use the HDHomeRun-supplied tools to tune the antenna and test reception and just found it totally inadequate. I read some online forms of people having similar issues and they recommended this software. I couldn’t be happier. It gave me everything that I needed in a quick simple easy to use interface that I needed to optimize my reception

### 5/5 — Excellent tool for “OTA TV Hobby”

*2026-03-21*

I joke about over-the-air TV being a hobby. Years back I had mixed luck and was constantly tinkering to improve marginal reception.

At his point tinkering is minimal and I’m lucky to have very good reception. This utility has been essential to getting my antenna optimized and signal stable.

One nit. My one ATSC 3 station seemingly takes a bit of time for my hdhr box to lock the signal. The experiments feature maybe samples a bit too short a time showing randomly 0% or 100% for a signal that in reality is a solid 100%. I bet increasing the experiments sample time a bit would eliminate this false alarm.

### 5/5 — So handy!

*2025-08-16*

Does what it says on the tin. Hint: if you aren’t able to see your HDHR, make sure you granted Local Networks permission when it asked during startup.

I’ve used this to verify my setup is doing the best it can to cope with passing aircraft and to verify the cables and connectors are behaving themselves (with a shake test).

I have just a few minor suggestions that would make the app even better:

* an option to keep the screen on in the graph view
* a “passive” mode so it only graphs what the tuners are actually doing (without turning on any tuners beyond what’s active)
* allowing tuners to be enabled and disabled for graphing right from the graph screen

Overall quite a time saver and well worth the price.

### 5/5 — WVEC Hampton, VA is UHF now

*2025-01-24, version 3.0.6*

This was a VHF station on ch. 11 (displayed as 13). Now they are a UHF station on ch. 35. Much better signal.

WVEC 35.1 - 35.8 (displays as 13.1 - 13.8).

Old FCC data is used in the app.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2024-12-30, version 3.0.6*

This is a great App. Instead of running “Detect Channels” in HDHomeRun after redirecting the antenna in order to determine signal strength, this App will allow you to do so for all active HDHomeRun Tuners second by second so you can easily determine the best direction for your antenna.

### 5/5 — Thank Gawd I Found This App!

*2024-11-27*

Tyler (The Antenna Man) referenced this application and I quickly found it and purchased it. Signal GH fills a missing void in the HDHomerun software and it works like a dream. I had previously been using a Samsung TV for OTA tuning and it was a very sensitive tuner. The HDHomerun is decent but not nearly as sensitive and I needed to move my antenna to restore some of the stations I used to get with my Samsung TV. This app is CRUCIAL to anyone trying to fine tune antenna placement with any HDHomerun.

### 5/5 — This app saved me a couple hundred $$$

*2024-06-18*

I've been pulling my hair out trying to fix a couple if signal quality issues with my OTA antenna. I thought I had tried everything. Moved antenna incrementally only to resolve one problem and create another. I decided to try this App out before ordering a new Channel Master Pro plus the preamp. To my surprise, I set up the app to monitor my problem channels and went outside at the antenna. Watching the channel signal quality and signal strength on my iPhone, I slowly moved my antenna. Wow! Just turning it 1.5"-2" on the mast fixed everything. Hard to believe such a small change affected the reception so much. Thanks to this app I could easily see what was happening. Amazing helpful app. Thanks so much.

### 5/5 — Worth every penny

*2024-03-09*

This app is amazing. In less than five minutes, I was able to make very small adjustments to my attic antenna to get 100 percent signal, symbol and quality on ALL of my over the air channels using HD home run. There is no way I could have done it without this app. In fact, I assumed some channels simply would not come in. Wrong. This app gave me feedback on tiny antenna adjustments so that I could get all stations. Really cool.

### 5/5 — Highly recommended if you have an HDHoneRun and need data to best choose and position your antenna

*2023-12-16, version 3.0.4*

I don’t normally leave reviews but this app is great. It does exactly what it says, which was what I needed to help me troubleshoot choosing and positioning my antenna. I’m in the Toronto area, so can confirm this works for Canadians as well.
