### 3/5 — Wish it vibrated watch when getting a visit

*2023-01-24, version 2.1*

Needs a watch notification when getting visit, whether it be a vibration, or a color change on screen.

Otherwise, becomes “work” and misses all timely moments

### 3/5 — Really cute when it works!

*2023-01-03, version 2.1*

My boyfriend and I have each other paired on this app. I get notifications on my phone about half the time while he never gets notifications. Also, if the notification is a little older and you tap on it, his otter does not come up on mine. We have tried sitting on the app at the same time and sending each other otters, but they don’t come. Wish this could get figured out because it’s a great idea!

### 4/5 — Super cute

*2022-06-11, version 2.1*

The app is lovely. I really like the animations. I am however seeing issues where is don’t get notifications reliably. An update to the app would be great.

### 3/5 — Absolutely adorable, but has some flaws

*2022-05-02, version 2.1*

I love this app, me and my partner have otters together. (Their names are Snickers and Puddle! ❤️) I must say though, this app does not come without its flaws. Whenever my partner sends me something I can not react to them and it makes me feel SO bad! It seems to just disappear. :( I really hope you can fix this.

### 4/5 — Just some ideas :)

*2022-04-26, version 2.1*

I love this app. It’s just adorable. However, there’s a couple things I think could be improved.
For starters, I think it would be great if there were a more convenient way to pick a “state” without having to scroll through them all.
I would love if there were a way to personalize your otter like with color, accessories, etc. Maybe even have a living space for your otter that can be personalized.
Lastly, I think it would be super sweet if there was a feature that allowed your otters to know when you and your partner are actually physically together.
Very sweet app, definitely recommend if you and your partner are long distance!

### 3/5 — It is so good!

*2022-04-22, version 2.1*

I love this app! It is so cute and works very smoothly! I actually found this app through a TikTok video so I really hope this app reaches a lot of people. The only thing I wished is that people who have Androids or Samsungs could use it too! My boyfriend has a Samsung and is really sad that we couldn’t do the app together.

### 4/5 — No apple watch

*2022-02-01, version 2.1*

This is great! However i don't have access to some emotes because i don't have an apple watch it says the scroll function isn't recognized. Hopefully there will be a solution id love to be able to use all emotes!

### 4/5 — So adorable!! More features in the future?

*2021-10-20, version 2.1*

This app is perfect for LD relationships!! the otter design is sooo freaking adorable and lovable and its fun that you can send notifications to your partner. However, I hope to see more features in the future! More emotes or maybe even a feature where your otter can invite your partner’s otter to hangout in the same space! (Since yknow.. LD couples can’t do that) Other than that this app is amazing :))

### 4/5 — This was great at first!

*2021-09-16, version 2.1*

Hello,

I was looking for a way to connect with my girlfriend while we were apart and I found this cute and wonderful app. Despite seeing some glitches in the reviews, I wanted to try it and we loved it! However, the glitches started to show up. It started with sending my otter and they received the notification but when clicking on it, didnt get the animation. Now, we dont receive eithers otters at all and no notifications from phone to phone reactions sent. I hope it can get patched because it was awesome while it was working. Thank you for making this app.

### 3/5 — Please update

*2021-06-25, version 2.1*

I get notifications that my significant is here but when I open the app nothing happens it’s just waiting for me to send something and it’s quite annoying been dealing with this issue for weeks

### 3/5 — Such a cute app but doesn’t work right

*2021-06-04, version 2.1*

This app is adorable and I love the idea of it! However, 90% of the time I send an otter my partner gets the notification but when the app is opened it doesn’t show anything is there from me. Same goes to when my partner sends me an otter or a reaction, I’m notified that my partner sent me something but the app won’t show me what it is which defeats the purpose of the app. It’s a very neat app I just wish it worked correctly.

### 3/5 — Good app but needs work

*2021-05-26, version 2.1*

This is a wonderful concept. My boyfriend and I like how it’s another way to stay in contact while apart. However, it doesn’t always work. We’ll both get notifications that the other is visiting, but when you go into the app we can’t see what they sent. It’s frustrating since we do like the app and like to use it… when it works. I also would like to see the developers allow for customization of the otters so that it’s a little more personalized. Just needs more work!

### 3/5 — Eh..

*2021-02-24, version 1.9*

It’s very cute but every time I open the app, it takes forever to load, no matter how strong my Internet connection is. Additionally, if I send, for example, a sleeping otter, the app will tell me that my partner has responded to something different instead. All in all, good idea, poor execution

### 3/5 — Apple Watch doesn’t work

*2021-01-25, version 1.9*

This app is so cute, but it doesn’t work on my Apple Watch. It doesn’t allow me to send otters from the watch, and it doesn’t receive them when my boyfriend sends them. The app on the watch says the phone is disconnected when it’s not.

### 2/5 — A lot of potential

*2021-01-22, version 1.9*

This app is really good for being in longer distances away from your significant other. It would help a lot more if it was easier to navigate on the Apple Watch. For example when I receive a notification on Apple Watch it just shows up randomly, and without vibration. I believe making it more prominent when it comes to notifications would help a lot, but an overall decent app

### 2/5 — I Love the Concept

*2020-12-31, version 1.9*

I really love the potential of this. I wish it rose to the level it could. It’s so glitchy because it’s not been updated, but I’d be willing to upgrade my rating with a performance upgrade that works. It’s the sending and receiving that is so problematic and almost never works. But occasionally it does, which is why I haven’t completely abandoned it. You’ve updated the BFF app; I appreciate that and use it with a good friend. PLEASE update this app, because I really want to enjoy sending significant otter emoji‘s with my guy.

### 4/5 — Super cute

*2020-12-15, version 1.9*

This app is super cute and I’m in a long distance relationship so it is really fun to send to each other, I think it would be cool if you could customize you otters so they are different I was kinda disappointed when I found out his was the same color as mine but it just flips depending on the phone. I just think is would be a cool fun thing to add Otherwise I love this app and it’s a really good way to tell each other we are thinking of them

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Where are the notifications?

*2021-12-03, version 2.1*

I get no notifications on my watch or my phone, I’ll send a message to my partner and when they respond I get absolutely no notice at all. Also, half the time when my watch and phone are right next to each other, my watch says there’s no signal to send a message.

### 1/5 — I was so excited about this

*2020-04-28, version 1.9*

I expected an app where I could feel the other person’s heart beat when the otters hugged on the watch. I basically got a very cute app that really does nothing. I get the floating otter notifications from my other half but they get nothing. I was so excited to get this working because the animations are so cute. But sadly, this has a long way to go.

### 1/5 — I think is a good idea but

*2020-02-20, version 1.8*

In general I think is a good idea but first of all the only way to signup is GOOGLE or SnapChat... So, I don’t have SnapChat because I don’t need it and I don’t use Google services at all not even web search engine or Chrome or any other service and I’m not interested in use them. So, for start the app will have limited users that can be maximize with other options of signup; for example: email, signin with Apple, Facebook... Now I can’t make another reviews from other categories like UI, appearance or other, because I can’t signup. I don’t think that I have to signup into other app or services that I’m not interested for been able to signup into a other app...

**Developer response:** Update: We now have a version that does not require logging in. Hope you try it out and let us know what you think. Feel free to contact us at contact@pinelabsapps.com.

### 1/5 — They want your Google or Snapchat credentials

*2020-01-13, version 1.5*

I was excited to download this app. Upon entering the app, they will only let you use it if you sign in with Google or Snapchat.
Once you do that, they have access to your accounts info. This is not for me or my wife.
I will redownload the app once they allow me to create an account with my own email.
I never trust an app that wants my Google or any other account info.
Please let us create an account without giving up my info.

### 2/5 — App isn’t working right

*2023-06-07*

I giving this app two stars because I was really excited about the premise of the app. Otters are my favorite animal and when my coworker recommended this app I downloaded it immediately. Sadly I’ve been trying to signup and start exploring the app but no matter how many times I try to sign up, login, delete and reinstall the app. I never am able to get passed naming my otter. It’s say first there is an error because it skips sign in but then it has me verify that i am over 13. After that no matter what I try to name my otter I just get an error saying there is a network error issue. I try to report a bug on the website but I get an error about the websites IP address. I really want to use this app but I have no idea how I can even fix my problem.

### 2/5 — Love it but it’s bittersweet

*2022-04-27, version 2.1*

I love the idea of the app since I’m long distance with my partner- but the developers really dropped the ball when it came to making the app. It doesn’t load more than it does- and is overall very glitchy. Imagine the app is like high school senior’s final in making an app class. You probably won’t get notifications either- and the app can be drastically improved. Will revisit it later once they offer an update.

### 2/5 — Cute but very inconsistent

*2022-04-24, version 2.1*

This app is great and cute but it’s extremely bare-bones in what it is. You just send reactions to your partner and react to what they send you. It’s simple enough, but notifications for some reason don’t always work, and even when they do, the app itself is so buggy. Half of the time my partner sends me a reaction, I can’t even react to it because nothing will load.

### 2/5 — not for long distance

*2022-04-23, version 2.1*

Definitely not for seriously long distance couples. my boyfriend and i live 5,000 miles apart. im american and hes swedish. ive seen that its not only open for samsungs, but also not allowed in sweden. therefore he cant get it eitherway. i think thats really limiting and bums us both out.

### 2/5 — Cute but buggy

*2021-06-11, version 2.1*

I really like the idea of this since my partner and I text a lot but have a hard time maybe just saying how we're feeling. The issue is though that I can't seem to be able to see or receive his otters either on my phone or watch, and when I send mine to him, it doesn't send my emotion, just the general hug emote every time. There's a lot of room for growth so I'm hoping these problems will be fixed. Seems great for communication.

### 2/5 — Needs an update

*2021-03-11, version 1.9*

otter names don’t show up
You can’t log out you can only delete account so if you need to refresh oh well guess you just have to delete the whole app and start over. Otter name also can’t be changed once it’s picked just FYI.

Cute idea. Fun theme. Just needs work. Hasn’t been updated in almost a year.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — amazing! + suggestion

*2022-05-02, version 2.1*

me and my bf use this everyday :))
I was hoping we could customize our otters a bit? like just little accessories or colors would be very fun !

### 5/5 — Good but could be great!

*2022-04-25, version 2.1*

This app is so cute. I love the animations the otters have! I’ve only just started using it with my bf, and we like it a lot. He thinks it’ll be boring eventually. I can definitely see that since the app only lets you react to what each other sends. Yes, that’s the point; however, I think if you could add a message or voice memo this could be more entertaining.

### 5/5 — Heccin Adorable

*2022-04-23, version 2.1*

We love the app and its subtle methods of communication for when were apart. A few minor glitches here and there but nothing that cant be polished. Wed love to see future updates involving the otters holding signs to deliver little messages, or to deliver voice memos. Wed also think adding a way to customize the otters such as clothing, hats, fur color, etc. would make the experience much more enjoyable!

### 5/5 — App achieves exactly what it sets to do!

*2021-07-08, version 2.1*

Most of the poor reviews are from old versions over a year ago. Many of the issues these reviews have suggested have definitely been repaired, at least from my testing. I saw this app while searching for things to do with an Apple Watch. I didn’t have one at the time, so I downloaded it to my phone and told my girlfriend to get it too. She did have an Apple Watch but never used it. This app gives her a reason to. Fast forward two weeks, I finally got my own Apple Watch and tried out the app. It’s awesome! It was already fun and cute on the phone, but the emotion detection on the watch is pretty accurate and cool. I can lay down, and quickly send a sleepy otter to visit my girlfriends otter. Amazing for long distance and really recommend if you want to add a fun touch to your relationship. Both the phone and watch apps are awesome.

By the way, our otters are named “Whiskers” and “Egg”. The hardest part of this app is choosing a name for your otter, as it’s permanent I believe.

### 5/5 — Helps me feel close to her

*2021-03-24, version 1.9*

I am an OTR truck driver and not home much. Even as I’m typing this I am beginning to get ready eyed. My and my wife’s otters are absolutely adorable and I am so happy that we found this app back in 2018. We have been using it ever since. I know that her otter isn’t her, but it really helps me feel closer to her when she is psychically so far away.

In closing, thank you devs. Thank you for allowing my wife and I to still feel close, even we are thousands of miles apart. ❤️

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2020-10-18, version 1.9*

This app is so cute! I'm not in a relationship, so I use it with a friend of mine that lives very far away from me. My only complaint is that you can't be connected to multiple friends. That would be awesome if you added that feature in a future update. Other than that, I'd highly recommend downloading this app and using it with you're partner or a friend💕

### 5/5 — Love it, just optimize it please

*2020-07-19, version 1.9*

Has a few slow spots and yah. Give us a way to customize our otter for like 99 cents and then hire someone to debug the thing.

### 5/5 — this saved my relationship.

*2020-05-19, version 1.9*

my and my boyfriend have been having troubling being long distance recently due to corona virus. I made him download this app, and while he thought it was stupid at first we both love it. so cute.

### 5/5 — Great potential, sluggish interface

*2020-02-17, version 1.8*

I’m giving this app five stars because of the potential that it has to make me and my wife closer. However, the interface is sluggish in Apple watch series 1.

### 5/5 — Fun way to connect

*2019-08-22, version 1.0*

My husband and I love the simplicity and have found this a wonderful way to say I love you quickly when we are both at work. It’s brought us closer for sure. Definitely recommend!!
