### 3/5 — Empty Topics

*2026-08-07, version 3.0.8*

I love this app and it’s a great tool overall, my only problem right now is that I used to go into the topics but they suddenly went empty. I would say more than half of the topics went empty, idk if it’s an update or not, but I was really enjoying those and I was hoping I could use that tool again for a new ASL project that I have to start on in this new season. I would love for it to come back because they were so good :(

### 3/5 — Is good but...

*2026-07-17, version 3.0.8*

I have been using this app for a little while and it's very helpful but missing a lot of words. It also isn't always right about certain signs and I can't always see the hand motions people are doing. Also their faces don't always match with the word they use.

### 4/5 — Not for beginners

*2026-06-24, version 3.0.8*

This app is not for beginners. It doesn’t teach you step-by-step how to learn each sign. If you want to learn a specific sign, you have to go hunting for it. This app is just bad for beginners, but if you know what you’re doing this would be great app

### 4/5 — Review

*2026-04-30, version 3.0.8*

I really like signschool and I think it’s a great resource for beginners, but I wish the app was as in-depth as the desktop website.

### 4/5 — Great app, but….

*2026-03-15, version 3.0.8*

I would say it’s helped me a lot and I love it a bunch, and I definitely recommend. This is a pretty good thing to help when there’s just like a certain word you can’t remember or don’t know, but I wouldn’t say it’s great for people who don’t know grammar rules or the basics, as it doesn’t teach much of that. But there are definetly bugs. Recently I was trying to get onto one of the topics provided on the app, but when I clicked on it it was blank and just said “there are no topics available”. So I refreshed the app and tried again, but it just kept saying the same thing. The only thing that works at the moment is the dictionary, can you please fix this? Overall, not a bad app if you’re trying to learn.

### 4/5 — more lessons

*2025-12-16, version 3.0.8*

love this app, but there could be more lessons. i do get that they’re still working on it. also, maybe some more common words in the dictionary that you’d use for more common conversations!!

### 4/5 — Love this app but…

*2025-12-03, version 3.0.8*

I love this app and it is so helpful in learning but there are no lessons. You can click the category of lessons but it just shows you how to say like a million different things. It doesn’t help you retain anything and some words are missing in the dictionary.

### 2/5 — One guy too too fast

*2025-11-21, version 3.0.8*

The black guy is very fast and not clear at all

### 2/5 — uhh

*2025-11-16, version 3.0.8*

hi, so I got this app because I wanted to learn sign language and then I was doing great, but then it kind of just deleted itself. But I wanna talk about the actual app itself. so tbh the lessons aren’t great. There’s a thing where there’s a word of the day but you can’t do multiple words a day only one word. and if you miss a day, it doesn’t show you the original word. There’s a dictionary, but it doesn’t have most of the words I need and that’s kind of upsetting but the video qualities is good but this is kind of an overrated app and I wouldn’t recommend it honestly.

### 4/5 — Review

*2025-11-06, version 3.0.8*

I liked this app because of the no charge the easy why to learn and change the speed can help new learners like me

### 4/5 — Really helpful

*2025-10-02, version 3.0.8*

I’ve enrolled in a night class to learn ASL. They provide a website for home study but I find that this app is more useful.
The only thing missing is a way to ask the app to show you a sign for something specific rather than rooting around trying to find it.
Well done otherwise.

### 3/5 — More of a review tool

*2025-09-16, version 3.0.8*

As a Deaf individual, many people ask me where to find good apps to learn ASL. This is one of the better/larger dictionaries I’ve found - however I would say it would benefit greatly with more details and context for vocabulary, especially when there are multiple signs/meanings for a word. For example, there is a distinction between a car accident and an accident where maybe you’ve spilt some milk - unless you know the difference, you might use the wrong sign.

### 3/5 — helpful but…

*2025-09-07, version 3.0.8*

there is no sign for Palestine on here!

### 3/5 — Websight

*2025-05-25, version 3.0.8*

Ok the websight they have is way better, with that being said, the quality of this app and the limited lessons is not great. The website has way more features and content, and is over all a great program.

This is missing the sync to my account, all the lessons, the finger spelling game, and grammar work along with multiple levels of basic sign. It’s also missing the “my name” lesson

### 3/5 — it was ok

*2025-04-29, version 3.0.8*

There could be more lessons but I get bored really quick there is really nothing to do other than the games, but I am a starter and would like free lessons not just words I don’t know.

### 4/5 — Free and neat

*2025-04-21, version 3.0.8*

If finger sweep left and right can turn page forward or backward would be nice feature.

### 4/5 — Great!

*2025-04-16, version 3.0.8*

This is a really great app, especially for people who are looking to find one for free. It has lots of topics, and you can review all of them. It also has a dictionary to look up any sign! It’s not exactly like I would prefer it, but great for beginners who want to learn!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Whyyyy

*2026-06-22, version 3.0.8*

This app has worked for me since I got it. Completely free and super amazing. Always 5 stars. Paired with my books (of which i don't rly use) and an additional dictionary app I have been successfully learning a few signs. However for no reason at all I randomly opened this app and it said there were no topics available. And I have no reason why. Suddenly its not working. This is frustrating me a great deal.

### 1/5 — Bad :(

*2026-01-25, version 3.0.8*

Not much to learn and it looks like a good app but it is not I do not recommend.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2026-01-24, version 3.0.8*

It doesn’t help at all because the videos are too fast for beginners and it doesn’t have the signs I want. I will be finding a new app.

### 1/5 — DONT USE!!!

*2025-05-05, version 3.0.8*

I downloaded the app and it was going great, until I went to do my first lesson, and it wouldn’t let me get past the letters lesson! I did it 6 times and it still wouldn’t let me do the next lesson! I don’t recommend this, and sign school, please fix this glitch!!!

### 1/5 — Not my fave

*2024-12-24, version 3.0.8*

This doesn’t actually teach you sign language, it only shows you a quick two second video for how to do the sign, the only actually lesson is the alphabet. And once you know how to do this, this app is almost useless

### 1/5 — This use to be my favorite app

*2024-07-23, version 1.8.1*

They removed the topics and now it is just a dictionary, which is good it just was good practice with the topics section

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time

*2024-02-26, version 1.8.1*

Not helpful if you are trying to actually learn sign. You only get one view of the sign and no explanations of how to do the sign. Might be ok if you are rusty and just trying to do a little refresh. Explaining how to make the sign is extremely important…I remember my instructor explaining to us how a slight change in the sign can really change the meaning..for example the sign for when someone meets another person. If it is turned some it becomes sex and if in that position the hands are brought together forcefully then it is rape.

### 1/5 — Loading

*2024-01-05, version 1.8.1*

Unfortunately like many others, I am unable to use the app. All that is presented is the front loading screen, “Your ASL data is loading”.

### 1/5 — I hate it

*2024-01-05, version 1.8.1*

This app teaches nothing useful and teaching you how to say the most stupid and random things. There is no beginner basics or lessons just random phrases and words m. I do not recommend

### 1/5 — …

*2023-08-15, version 1.8.1*

Would be great if the signs were real asl

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — AMAZING

*2026-06-29, version 3.0.8*

I love this app it’s helping me
learn for new experiences and now I have recommended it TO NOT ONE BUT 3 FRIENDS so I do wish there were more words with it like is and other shorter one but I love the experience it has given me and remember it won’t all come at once

### 5/5 — PHENOMENAL

*2026-06-20, version 3.0.8*

I’ve been looking to learn ASL at home on my own since I was young but was never able to afford lessons but because of this app and ESPECIALLY their website I was able to start! I absolutely am SO beyond grateful for this creator (especially for the website) for making it so accessible and FREE!

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2026-06-07, version 3.0.8*

I just got this app a few days ago and have already learned so many words I’ve looked at 20+ apps and this is by far my favorite and it really easy to use I would totally recommend it has lessons, a dictionary, game and more truly is an amazing app

### 5/5 — Four point eight

*2026-06-06, version 3.0.8*

I like How it is free and easy for people but I think in the dictionary you ahould make the letters on the side be like so u can tap the letter and it brings u to them category. Let’s say I press S then it brings me to the S section.

### 5/5 — Love 💗

*2026-02-19, version 3.0.8*

So good I always wanted to do sine language

### 5/5 — I love this app

*2025-09-08, version 3.0.8*

I really love the app but I am worried about everyone else has said I am trying to learn sign language and this is a very handy app for it I also love that this app has a lot of things that you can learn on it but there is some words that you can’t find on the app for example teachers or elastic but if it had more learning in it it would be great

### 5/5 — Love the games

*2025-04-27, version 3.0.8*

This latest update is great, I love that there's a section for games. It's helping me review what I learned.

### 5/5 — BEAUTIFUL

*2025-04-18, version 3.0.8*

Yall, this app isnt like the others. It doesnt cost money for new lessons! I LOVE THIS SM

### 5/5 — Nice!

*2025-04-13, version 3.0.8*

Just found the app. To my surprise and delight it is free! Thank you for making an app where I can learn something that I have wanted to learn for a long time: ASL! The review quiz is a nice touch, too! Thanks again.

### 5/5 — ASL beginner (ASL 2)

*2025-01-08, version 3.0.8*

I just found this app and I’m super excited! It’s been helping me practice at home & learning new Christian signs so I could converse with the Deaf members of my church without being lost! Thank you so much for this app!
