### 1/5 — Not a Merry Christmas

*2025-12-25, version 2.0.1*

As others have said, the 5 star reviews have to be from the developers and/or employees. What a horrible app and/or device. I work in tech and I can honestly say that I’ve NEVER seen such a colossal failure in setup. The device will not connect even setting my WiFi to 2.4. Multiple factory resets later I was finally able to get it into manual mode - POINTLESS, bought this FOR the app features. This was a Christmas gift to my husband, so embarrassing. You should be stripped of the use of any connection to Amazon. Merry Christmas!

### 1/5 — Update: app works but...

*2025-11-12, version 2.0.1*

Update: I got the app to finally work. However, the customer service from this customer is trash. I was an early adopter and when I finally did receive my items one came wirh a broken lid. Sent a few emails back and forth to get a replacementid. As of tsdy it's been radio silence since my last Email several weeks ago.

As others have mentioned this app is pure trash. I downloaded the app and connected it to the network it created. It then wants to connect to the 1.4 GHz network as all IoT devices do. Tried that. Failed multiple times. I’ve run other IoT devices with no problems on the same network. This tells me that the device is a massive failure. My network runs both 5 & 2.4 GHz at the same time and I know they work properly from past experiences. Now I have a glorifies $290 food vacuum system. We waited 7 years and got a device that can barely work and an app that is useless.

### 1/5 — Good product, bad app

*2025-09-24, version 1.19.7*

I really like what the product itself does. The silo device works well. But the app is extremely lame. It has no features that are beneficial. It constantly loses its connection. It just overall a poorly written app.

### 1/5 — Needs a lot of improvement

*2025-09-22, version 1.19.7*

My new silo device arrived yesterday afternoon. I tried to get it to connect to my Wi-Fi network, but that didn’t work so I stopped until this morning. Tried it again. Failed three times. It would detect the network and then it would disconnect from the network, but the app thought the device was connected. Of course it wasn’t. Instead I kept getting Siri telling me all about the silo. So there was a disconnect between the device and the app. I also am unable to get the base of the silo to reset to factory settings. Every time I try, the two approaches mentioned in the pathetic manual, it simply revert to Alexa introducing me to silo. Finally I got it into basic mode and I’m able to vacuum seal the containers. But it does not detect them and thinks that I don’t have any. Very disappointed.

### 2/5 — Similar to other reviews - trash.

*2025-08-19, version 1.19.7*

I’m able to connect to internet and Alexa. But can’t label anything. Trying to manually label stuff in the app just gets an error message “under construction”. Seeing as these scam artists had over 5 years of holding on to our Kickstarter money, you’d think the app would be done and functional. Nope.

### 1/5 — Trash app

*2025-08-09*

As others have mentioned this app is pure trash. I downloaded the app and connected it to the network it created. It then wants to connect to the 1.4 GHz network as all IoT devices do. Tried that. Failed multiple times. I’ve run other IoT devices with no problems on the same network. This tells me that the device is a massive failure. ### 1/5 — Garbage

*2025-08-08, version 1.19.7*

I keep checking for an app update that might actually allow me to setup my device, but it’s been over two months since the last update. All troubleshooting leads to factory resetting and trying the process again. I don’t even know how many times I have tried this on both the android and IOS versions and have given up at this point.

### 1/5 — Fraudulent product

*2025-07-27, version 1.19.7*

This app setup REQUIRED to start using the vacuum features is so poorly implemented that any person giving more than one star is likely affiliated with the company or a fraudulent paid review. At this point, I’m convinced that the product was only sent out to silence criticism of vaporware, and the company is trying to stay just one town ahead of the sheriff.

The WiFi setup doesn’t work, period, and the app is not usable without it. The workaround they offer on the site doesn’t work either. Let’s not talk about any of the “smart” features the company claims - I could not even get the basic vacuum feature working. And I work in tech, so I’m well versed in the intricacies of product setup. If someone moderately technically inclined like me cannot get this to work, I don’t see any possibility of a layman doing it.

At this point t, I’m only using the containers as Tupperware without any of the vacuum functionality. This product is essentially a writeoff for me.

### 1/5 — Failed Execution

*2025-07-25, version 1.19.7*

The silo is a very good idea but the execution has been poor. The silo device itself works. It vacuum seals food inside the plastic container and allows you to easily open and then re-vacuum the container. However, NONE of the “smart” features work. My unit doesn’t label, connect to Alexa, or provide any info in the silo app. I am unable to keep track of any of the food items stored inside the container. The device vacuum seals the container and the LCD screen displays prepping to label and then nothing. It doesn’t connect to Alexa. It doesn’t label or keep any info on a single container. The unit connects to my WiFi but does nothing that it’s supposed to do while connected. Until this is fixed I can’t rate it higher than one star or recommend the device.

### 1/5 — 7 year wait a FAIL

*2025-06-07, version 1.19.7*

Can’t connect because my wifi is too fast? Can’t even pair it because the networks shown aren’t picking mine up. Should have sold it on marketplace…

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with 5g

*2025-05-28, version 1.18.19*

It is a pain to get my network to broadcast in 2g which is required to connect but you expect people to run all of their devices on a slower connection just to connect a food sealer? Crazy. 2g made sense in 2018 but not today.

### 1/5 — Worst support ever

*2025-05-24, version 1.18.19*

I just received the unit. It won’t connect to my 2.4 WiFi. There’s no way to progress or get support when it doesn’t connect. Going to the App Store and clicking on support gets a cornucopia of opportunities to buy lots of stuff and NO WAY TO GET SUPPORT. A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App fails to load

*2026-09-01, version 2.1.3*

Expensive but very cool system. But now the app is unresponsive and fails to load what we have saved. Also, the Alexa feature has super-sonic hearing compared to all other devices. The constant “I can’t do that from this device” is very annoying when you are used to having an Alexa managed smart home.

### 1/5 — Failed execution

*2026-07-16, version 2.1.3*

I concur with the negative criticisms of this product — set up is dysfunctional. It just simply doesn’t work. You have to use the alternate method and then you’ll be lucky if you can get it to link up. Secondly, if you actually just want to vacuum seal your products and not get involved with Amazon you can’t do it which is tragic - all the integrations emails, marketing, etc.. Make this product highly undesirable. If you do manage to get it set up you’re going to be badgered by it to continue trying to set it up because it doesn’t realize you set it up. The idea is great. It’s shocking that the engineers couldn’t get the software right.

### 1/5 — Can’t set up the base

*2026-07-05, version 2.1.2*

“Your wi-fi network has spaces” are you kidding me? First the base isn’t recognizable via Bluetooth, then it’s not compatible with my home wi-fi network, and then when a friend visited so I could borrow their phone hotspot (with no spaces in the name) to set up the Silo, Silo can’t find the hotspot. A $220 piece of junk is sitting on my kitchen counter. I regret backing this on Kickstarter in 2019.

### 1/5 — Worst most disfunctional app ever!

*2026-06-25, version 2.1.2*

Unusable.

### 1/5 — SILO FIX THE APP- Amazon connection issue Now !

*2026-06-25, version 2.1.2*

SILO FIX THE APP- Amazon connection issue Now ! This is unprofessional service!

### 1/5 — Well the app is useless

*2026-03-25, version 2.0.1*

just got my silo system and it won’t connect to the app at all - thankfully I really don’t care anything about the app - time to see if this works!

### 1/5 — Needs improvement

*2026-03-06, version 2.0.1*

The actual vacuum sealing works well enough though there needs to be more variety of container shapes and sizes. The app is useless and wifi connectivity is a pia and unreliable.

### 1/5 — Terrible App

*2026-01-15, version 2.0.1*

Opened package to set up the system. Looks nice… then the app won’t connect. This is all worthless if you cannot even vacuum seal a single container.

### 1/5 — It doesn’t work

*2026-01-14, version 2.0.1*

Just got my Silo…after backing it 8 years ago on Kickstarter (that’s another story). This machine doesn’t work without an app, and the app doesn’t work so it’s useless! I only wanted it for the vacuum sealing. This is dumb

### 1/5 — Garbage app and software. Waste of money. Buyer beware.

*2025-12-28, version 2.0.1*

The equipment works great. The software, setup, and app are garbage. Used the help center with troubleshooting docs and it’s a joke. No way to talk to an actual support rep. Enjoy your circular AI Agent experience with no resolution.

Great concept, terrible execution. Save your money and hard pass on this waste of time and money.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Beautiful design and super practical

*2026-03-16, version 2.0.1*

The Silo device looks really nice on my kitchen counter and the containers feel really high quality. I use this product on a regular basis. It’s a game changer!

### 5/5 — Works great! Finally can eat my salad greens before the expire

*2026-02-28, version 2.0.1*

Great app, works flawlessly. See a lot of people have had issues but once it’s setup (which they walk you through) it works with zero effort. Just place it in the base, say what it is when done and manage inventory via the app. Great to see when I have food getting close to expiring so I can prioritize eating versus it going to waste. My only issue is I can’t figure out how to mark the occasional food as ‘discarded’ so my dollar savings based on consumption is overstated. That said, if definitely saves us a lot of money by avoiding food waste!

### 5/5 — Works Great!

*2026-02-20, version 2.0.1*

Very easy to sync with my app and my phone, I signed in using my Amazon account. You do not need Alexa to use this because Alexa is built into it. I LOVE being able to catalog what I’m putting in the containers. No issues at all. I wanted people to know everything went fine. Thanks again for helping me with all my questions prior to purchasing your product. I appreciate it. Only reason I bought it!

### 5/5 — Not terrible

*2026-01-23, version 2.0.1*

I am mainly giving the five stars because these one stars don’t seem fair. It’s not the best app experience I’ve had. I accidentally logged in under my mom’s Amazon account and all sorts of confusion in the app stack happened. But I was able to recover and did get it setup and working without too much trouble. Two vacuums in and it’s showing great promise. Time will tell but so far I love the app experience and the voice commanded vacuum sealer and scale.

### 5/5 — So far so good

*2025-11-20, version 2.0.1*

Got worried when I ordered this product and then read the reviews about the app…. Not sure if they miraculously fixed the issues just before I got the product and downloaded the app but so far everything is working great! Setup was beyond easy with an existing Amazon/alexa account and I had my wife try it out for the first time (nothing against my wife - I love her to death - but she is definitely technology challenged) and we both agreed the product couldn’t be easier. Loving it so far.

### 5/5 — Jack Sheriton

*2025-05-11, version 1.8.17*

Really nice app helps with managing my food inventory and keep me up to date with updates on when my food will go bad. Love this APP. Really easy to navigate. Thanks Team Silo 💙

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2025-05-10, version 1.8.17*

Works perfectly. Easy set up and the app is simple and eloquent. Excited to keep our “ fridge of death” stick with fresh long lasting items.

### 5/5 — Seamless connection!

*2025-05-10, version 1.8.17*

The setup was seamless for me, can’t wait to start using Silo for all my food!

### 5/5 — Awesome experience!

*2025-03-31*

I love using the Silo device for cooked food as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. Everything stays fresh and the app allows me you easily track how long my food is good for! Love also the scale option on the device too.

### 2/5 — Vacuum is great, app is poor

*2026-08-11, version 2.1.3*

I love this device and have no problem using any of its functions including the connection to Alexa. But the app is frequently dysfunctional. For a couple of weeks now it won’t load so I can’t see my inventory. I’ve done everything g except delete it bc I don’t want to lose my inventory info. There is really no customer service or support for the app at all it seems. No “contact us” on the website either. I am back to manually tracking my inventory, freshness, etc
