## What is Silo Sweep?

Silo Sweep is a 100% on-device photo-library cleaner for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It finds duplicates, near-duplicate clusters, burst best-picks, blurry shots, and screenshots, then hands you a swipe-to-review queue where nothing is deleted without your explicit decision.

KEY POINTS
* 100% on-device cleanup — no cloud, no account, no analytics, no data collected. The cleanup path works in Airplane Mode. On macOS, an optional SemanticKit photo-question pilot downloads a pinned 5.65 GB model only after consent and runs offline afterward.
* Finds what Apple Photos can't: near-duplicates, burst best-picks, and blur/junk scoring — the layer above the free built-in tool, not a paid clone of it.
* It cannot delete anything by itself: every removal passes your swipe, then Apple's system confirmation, then 30 days in Recently Deleted.
* One purchase, three platforms — the Mac library and the storage-full iPhone are the same one-time purchase.

WHAT IT IS NOT
* Silo Sweep is a photo-library cleanup tool, not a cloud backup or storage service. It never uploads your photos and never moves money.

PRICING
* One-time purchase, universal across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no trial paywall.

REQUIREMENTS
* iOS 18+, iPadOS 18+, or macOS 14+. The optional SemanticKit pilot is macOS-only, needs an Apple silicon Mac with at least 16 GB memory, and requires a consent-gated 5.65 GB model download.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6.0 — 2026-08-31

Export a truthful deletion record after review. The new CSV separates what you asked Silo Sweep to delete from what the system later confirmed, and clearly marks canceled, failed, already-gone, sample, and Limited Library results without including Photos identifiers.

### 1.5.0 — 2026-08-11

Stopping a scan now really stops it. On a large library the duplicate-finding pass kept running after you tapped Stop, so the app carried on working in the background and the progress bar sat still for minutes at a time. Both long stages of a scan can now be interrupted straight away, and both show how far they have got.

Stopping or repeating a scan no longer breaks the groups you already had. Duplicate groups from an earlier scan could be left listed on the dashboard but open with nothing in them, over photos that were still there. They stay intact and reviewable, and copies are now reviewed oldest first.

Space figures are honest about ordinary photos. The dashboard counted every photo it had no opinion about towards recoverable space, so most of your library was described as reclaimable. That column is gone, and the total now means what it says: everything the scan examined.

A scan that cannot run says so. If Photos access has been turned off, or a scan stops or fails, the dashboard now tells you instead of leaving the previous results on screen as if they were new.

### 1.4.0 — 2026-08-06

Makes duplicate detection safe. Photos that merely looked similar could be grouped together and queued for deletion in one tap without you ever opening the group: matching was based on a small perceptual fingerprint, and a chain of near-matches could pull in a photo that was not a duplicate of the one being kept. Every member of a group is now checked against the photo you are keeping, and the one-tap action is limited to exact duplicates — now proven by a checksum of the actual image data rather than inferred from size and dimensions. Similar-looking groups open for review first. Deletions are also verified: if the record of a sweep cannot be written, the app reports the failure instead of a successful sweep, and photos that were already gone no longer count as deleted. Deleted photos continue to go to Recently Deleted.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-07-22

• New Videos section on the dashboard: Sweep now finds screen recordings and large videos (over 200 MB) alongside duplicate photos
• Each video category shows its reclaimable space and lists the biggest items first
• Deletion still goes through Apple's own confirmation — nothing is removed without your tap
• Clearer copy when a review queue has nothing left in it

### 1.1.0 — 2026-07-11

• Keep sharpest: one tap keeps the best shot in a cluster and queues the rest for review — deletion still goes through Apple's confirmation
• Scan again without relaunching
• Copy or share your Sweep Report
• Open Settings shortcut if Photos access was denied
• VoiceOver labels on controls
