## What is Sim Daltonism?

From the perspective of a color blind person, some colors are impossible to distinguish. Sim Daltonism lets you visualize colors as they are perceived with various types of color blindness.

Point your camera at something and let Sim Daltonism show you what it looks like to a color blind person. Use it to improve visual designs by making them more accessible, to understand better strange colors choices on a child’s drawing, or simply to get a better understanding of the world from the perspective of a color blind person.

Simulated Vision

Sim Daltonism can simulate the vision of many forms of color blindness:

Red-Green
• Deuteranopia (no green cones)
• Deuteranomaly (anomalous green cones)
• Protanopia (no red cones)
• Protanomaly (anomalous red cones)
Blue-Yellow
• Tritanopia (no blue cones)
• Tritanomaly (anomalous blue cones)
All colors
• Monochromacy
• Partial monochromacy

Note that the colors shown are only an approximation. Color blindness varies from person to person and the simulator cannot represent everyone’s vision. Many other factors can affect the results, such as the automatic white point calibration of the camera. Nevertheless, Sim Daltonism is a good tool to better understand color blindness.

Sim Daltonism is open source.

### 5/5 — Colour Blind Camera Sim

*2026-06-24, version 2.1.5*

This shows you the problems colour Blind people have identifying colours, and how drab the outside world can be.
A straight forward app, that can specialise in colour Blind specifity for each trait of colour blindness.

### 5/5 — Danke!

*2025-12-25, version 2.1.5*

Tolle minimalistische App. Endlich die Welt der Rot-Grün-Schwäche verstehen.

### 5/5 — FANTASTIC App

*2025-05-13, version 2.1.5*

An example of great interface design - simple to use and with great utility.

This has helped me understand how family members see the world.

Thank you developers - great job.

### 5/5 — Essential Development Tool

*2025-04-01, version 2.1.5*

I’ve used Sim Daltonism for many years, to ensure that my apps are usable by as many folks as possible.

### 5/5 — A suggestion

*2024-01-17, version 2.1.5*

I was wondering if y’all can add an option for cat and dog vision, we already know they see less colors than us, the closest I can find to cat vision based on my research is protanomaly but it’s not exact, something like this would help with buying toys my cats will actually play with, plus I wana see the world through thier eyes

### 5/5 — “Eye” opening

*2022-10-01, version 2.1.5*

I have a child who is colorblind and I’ve always wondered what the world looks like through his eyes. Now I can see exactly that! I had him test it for me to make sure the colors lined up with what he sees, and for deuteranomoly, it is spot on!

### 5/5 — I'm glad this is still available

*2022-09-30, version 2.1.5*

This is a crucial tool for anyone who wants to understand, well, anything. Our default is ourselves and everything we do in order to stretch the view? Hallelujah! That means if the "only" thing someone begins to understand is unique between them and another person is color and other differences in visual perception *and* they should make accommodations their worldview may shift. - — - I didn’t write that metaphorically but because a huge part of our brains are dedicated to vision it’s hard to not be metaphorical and literal.

### 4/5 — A little piece of advice

*2022-07-30, version 2.1.5*

So I tested this and I myself have protanomaly, and, fun fact, the reds actually are the same as a normal persons perception of red. It is just hard to differentiate purple from blue, dark red from brown and yellow from lime. I’m criticizing I’m just trying to give some advice.

### 5/5 — Accurate

*2022-03-04, version 2.1.5*

Great! As someone who actually has a mild form of deuteranamaly, this is accurate!

### 4/5 — Extremely Helpful!

*2022-02-09, version 2.1.5*

As a UX designer this app is amazing. But when you take pictures I would like an option for a label that tells you which type of color blindness is being used
