### 2/5 — Need a beginner level

*2020-02-02, version 1.4.1*

I am just starting out and chose this kit because there was a trainer app. The first “easy” level available is much too hard for me. Please update to include beginner level.

### 2/5 — What’s the point?

*2020-01-11, version 1.4.1*

This app is pointless. All the offerings from this app are available from the kit’s control module. Offer something useful, we’ll check that out. Until then...deleted.

### 2/5 — Missed Opportunity

*2020-01-05, version 1.4.1*

I’m so disappointed in the teaching tools function. The easiest level is way too hard for a beginner drummer. Ridiculous! It really couldn’t have been that difficult to add a few really beginner levels so that this would actually function as a teaching tool. Such s huge missed opportunity here.

### 1/5 — Play along function does not work

*2019-10-10, version 1.3*

Bought the SD350 for my 10 year-old son. One of the big selling points was the play along learning function.

It will not upload any songs. False advertising. Nice job disappointing a kid.

### 1/5 — App constantly crashes

*2019-10-01, version 1.3*

This app is worthless. It constantly crashes and cannot be used. I purchased the SD600 drum set so that I could utilize this app to practice my set list and can’t. Very frustrating for such a big selling point for the drum set. Debating on returning the drum set.

### 2/5 — Can’t play along

*2019-09-30, version 1.3*

App crashes every time I try to open my music. I’ve also had problems editing my kit. Using the SD600.

### 1/5 — Useless app. Save your money for better drums.

*2019-06-20, version 1.2.13*

This app is terrible. Nothing works.

I try to adjust a drum sound, nothing.

I try to change kits on the app, nothing.

I try to change the sound of a Tom, nothing.

I try to use a play along track, nothing.

Do yourself a favor and spend the money to get better drums.

I will be returning mine very soon as this is completely unacceptable.

For those whom it may concern I’m using the SD350 drums.

### 1/5 — Won’t connect to iPad 2

*2019-05-31, version 1.2.13*

Running 9.3 version update. Will not connect. Was one of the reasons I bought the drum kit was for the use of the iPad adjustments. Bluetooth will not even recognize the iPad.

### 1/5 — App needs work

*2025-01-21, version 1.5.5*

I bought the titan 50 because of how it works with the app. The app says my kit is connected but none of the features work it. I can’t access the kit tuning from the app

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2022-07-04, version 1.5.5*

Agree with other reviewers. It takes a minute or two of trying to load a song from itunes and that’s all i want to use it for.

### 1/5 — App Does Not Work

*2021-02-17, version 1.5.2*

The issues with this app basically make it unusable. For starters, the app would quit any time I tried to load a song to play along with. This is the key feature of the app, no one cares that you can select your drum kit with the app. The module works for that, but the one functionality that would make it useful doesn’t work. They out out a “fix” and now the song loads and plays through my phone speaker not the headphones. If my parents hadn’t gotten this for me as a present I’d return the whole set. FIX YOUR APP ITS BEEN MONTHS/YEARS IT HASN’T WORKED.

### 1/5 — Hugely disappointing

*2020-07-08, version 1.5.1*

I have the Simmons 600, but no matter what I do the app will not let me play along with my own music. They say that the new update fixes it, but it doesn’t. One of the only good things the app does, doesn’t even work. It is disappointing, annoying, and a huge waste of time.

### 1/5 — Bad app

*2019-12-04, version 1.3*

Crashed when selected play along. What a poorly written app. Please update.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2019-11-30, version 1.3*

Like many others, I picked the SD600 for the play along features and how they said it works great with iOS and iTunes music. No matter what I do, it won’t work. It crashes on my phone and my iPad just says “connecting to cloud library” and never loads anything. I would give zero stars if I could.

### 1/5 — Won’t work with ITunes

*2019-11-09, version 1.3*

Disappointed. Playing along with iTunes was one the major reasons I bought the SD600. Get it fixed please!

### 1/5 — No updates to fix the bugs?

*2019-11-06, version 1.3*

My only complaint so far and it’s a big one, is that every time I open the iOS Music app, the Simmons app crashes. Unusable to play along. Also, what about being able to record straight into iOS device? That’s gotta be doable these days, man.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2019-11-04, version 1.3*

app would be fantastic if the main selling point of adding your own songs actually worked, but sadly it just crashes the app. please fix

### 1/5 — App crashes

*2019-10-25, version 1.3*

This app would be awesome if it worked as advertised. However, it crashes every time I open “my music.”

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-02-20, version 1.5.2*

It works best for me.

### 5/5 — Great way to work with SD550

*2018-01-09, version 1.0.6*

I got the app and the apple cable to hook this up. It worked right out of the shoot and it's a big help for editing the kits in my SD550. I also like the teaching tools. I mostly use the music player function for practicing songs along with my SD550. Pretty good experience and it's free.

### 5/5 — Brilliant extension ...

*2017-07-06*

... of my sd300! <3

### 4/5 — Really good but..

*2020-04-16, version 1.5.1*

Ok so I finally got my adapter to plug in my device but noticed to play with the song you need Apple Music. I have Spotify and not Apple Music and was wondering if there would be any way to play along through Spotify. So if you are hoping to play through Spotify it doesn’t work rn I guess.

Secondly, I really want to know how to record on it. I tried looking up tutorials on it but couldn’t find anything. I am using garage band for most projects and just want a easy way to record.

(Using SD-350)

### 3/5 — Eh. Needs work.

*2022-07-08, version 1.5.5*

The app overall is relatively easy to navigate. Adjusting different sounds for every single aspect of the kit really opens up the customization of the set you choose to get. I think my only complaint though, which is why I gave it 3 stars for one thing, is that it won’t connect 80% of the time. Really frustrating when I’m trying to dial in what sounds I’m really looking for and want to experiment with.

### 3/5 — The Simmons APP does NOT work with GarageBand

*2020-02-27, version 1.5.0*

The Simmons drums app whether for the sd350 or sd600 and between, does NOT work with Garage Band at all, unlike as advertised. GarageBand will not recognize it at all, as inter audio app or effect or anything whether connected as midi (the best and proper way to connect) via Bluetooth or the midi USB. Yes of course the kit can let GarageBand CONTROL it’s midi sounds under drums instruments in GB, but won’t let you use your Simmons drum module, in ANY non analog, MIDI connection or the app either, as the midi master or controller. Thus you can only use the entire kit and app, itself, BUT you can’t use the built in Simmons kits or your saved kits or ANYTHING to record or use digitally/ MIDI with GarageBand.

Gotta admit Simmons kits, esp. 550 and 600, both of which I’ve purchased are excellent for the money, perhaps the best out there as a pro drummer (who doesn’t care about practice functions or learning functions) but NEEDS to use these kits to properly record and otherwise use in GarageBand. But you can’t actually record ANY Simmons kit via midi at all. Plenty of other free apps even crappy DRUMS apps can be used in GarageBand.

But it won’t recognize at all, any Simmons drum kits- so Simmons needs to revamp or update the brains of their kits or at least the app so that GarageBand will allow players from beginners to pros, to actually use the Simmons brains and/ or app for MIDI RECORDING- too many drummers are wasting time and money to buy useless accessories to record their electronic Simmons kits in an ANALOG mode- but now Simmons needs to make sure we record in GarageBand in MIDI- the only way drummers should be recording or using as Simmons brains or apps, etc. for years past and present- too many drummers don’t realize the enormous difference including sound quality and editing after recordings. Simmons mis advertises to drummers that their “app” allows you to use GarageBand- it’s tricky and technical- but this is FALSE. Any drum kit with any midi out (just about any brains made in last 20 plus years) lets you use GarageBand as the midi controller- and GarageBand drum sounds are amazing and that’s terrific! But for one they don’t recognize dual zone drums, cymbals, etc. other than the snare if that= huge difference. But Simmons needs to make this right so that you can use any Simmons brains whether via usb midi or the app or Bluetooth- to be the controller in GarageBand like Alexis and their other competitors- please straighten out your advertising with your features Simmons and please get this fixed ASAP! Otherwise the app in and of itself is really cool as are the brains and the kits Simmons has been coming out with esp. the sd600 which was only $380 during Black Friday! Please figure this out guys ASAP it is a HUGE deal for pro drummers! Thanks.

NOTE: The developers response was that “hello this app was not made to be used with garage band. The Simmons app controls garage band.”

That is like saying that the Simmons app won’t work with GarageBand. But that the Simmons app works with garageband.

Pretty weird management at Simmons. Guitar center owns and manafactures Simmons. Guitar center bought the name “Simmons” over 20 years after Simmons went out of business. It’s also misleading and should just be called a guitar center drum kit. Also guitar center and/or Simmons sold me a sd550 but both lied about it being an 11 piece kit and I got a 8 piece kit, missing dual zone 2 tons and floor toms (except for snare none were dual zone but both companies openly advertised that they were). That is getting an 8 piece drum kit when you paid for 11 drums- same thing in digital drum kits. The excuses from guitar center, their managers regional managers and corporate for making me buy a new sd600 kit at my own expense just to get what I originally bought in the store and paid for, have been absurd. For nearly a year now. It’s my fault because I relied on them even what’s on the box and website and then didn’t tell them soon enough they claim. Pretty absurd.

My point is both Simmons and guitar center have serious false and misleading advertising which is fraud and that’s illegal. Especially when both are the manufacturers and did it deliberately. Yes hands down great PRO kits these aren’t amateur kits and hands down the best prices period since they entered the market a few years ago- forcing competitors to lower prices by 50% or more.

But just look at the developers response here. Either they just don’t get what they are manafacturing or talking about- or they’re engaging in fraud deliberately and knowingly. Either way a class action lawsuit ought to straighten them out- come on guitar center just get it straight and tell the truth! Thanks.

### 2/5 — Trash

*2020-11-21, version 1.5.2*

If you’re gonna advertise the app on the box that the drums come in, make it a better app. The ability to play with songs of your choosing doesn’t work, which would be the only reason this app would be worth even opening. Extremely underwhelming app. Looks like it was put together in 1 day by 1 person.

### 2/5 — Play alone feature doesn’t work

*2020-09-16, version 1.5.2*

Play along does not work. When you select a song it freezes and then crashes. I tried reinstalling multiple times and still won’t work. Hopefully there will be a fix soon.

### 2/5 — Play along

*2020-05-30, version 1.5.1*

Play along doesn’t work! The most useful feature of the app doesn’t work!

### 2/5 — Doesn’t quite work

*2020-04-19, version 1.5.1*

I have version 1.5.1 and play along will not work at all. I’ve tried multiple times with multiple songs, and even tried deleting and redownloading the app; nothing worked. It also has troubles when I try to connect to my drum set (SD350) and won’t let me alter any sound settings.
It’s really a shame, because I was looking forward to the app with great expectations.
