## What is Simple Arrows?

We live in a time of great archery apps, many with spreadsheet-level knobs and levers, dozens of stats to track, and a million ways to configure every round.

This isn't one of them.

Simple Arrows is a light, fast and private archery training companion for iPhone and iPad. Pick a face, start shooting, and it works out which round you're in on its own. It scores your session, keeps a calm timeline of your practice, and quietly helps you notice what's changing. We built this to be a training companion, not a performance dashboard.

LESS SETUP, MORE SHOOTING
Pick your target face and start shooting. Simple Arrows watches how you score and recognizes the round for you, from Portsmouth to the WA 1440 to the imperial rounds and plenty more, without asking you to pick from a list first. It handles the rounds you actually shoot, and you stay in control the whole way. Score on the target face or the scoresheet, whichever feels right. Every tap is instant, and nothing gets between you and the next arrow.

WA full face, 6-ring, vertical 3-spot and 5-spot. Vegas 3-spot. NFAA single spot and 5-spot. Worcester and Worcester 5-spot. Plus a blank bale for form work.

DELIGHT IN THE DETAILS
We poured some craft into the small things. Arrows land on the target with a satisfying little settle. Hold your finger down and a magnifier opens so you can place a mark exactly where it landed. The Finish button gently fills beneath your thumb as you hold it down. All of it, hopefully, makes scoring feel terrific. We wanted to build the archery app we'd want to use ourselves, so we spent an ungodly amount of time making scoring feel right.

A TIMELINE OF YOUR PRACTICE
Every session, note, and milestone lives in a clean, filterable timeline you can revisit even after years of shooting. Personal bests appear quietly as you go. Recognition, not a scoreboard.

INSIGHTS THAT STAY CALM
Lightweight, honest reads on your training: trend, consistency, and volume, with enough context to notice what changed after a new string, a new tab, or simply a good week of practice. One clear picture, not a wall of charts.

SHARE THE GOOD ONES
Shot a round you're proud of? Export it as a clean scorecard image and send it to a friend, your coach, or the club chat. It looks like something you'd actually want to share, not a screenshot of a spreadsheet. The card is free for everyone; Supporters just get a few extra styles to play with.

YOURS, AND PRIVATE
Your training data stays on your device and, if you choose, in your own private iCloud account. It's always private. Anonymous analytics are off by default, and if you turn them on, they help improve the app, and nothing else. Export your whole archive as CSV whenever you like. It's your data.

Faster with a big archive, and edits that stay in step across devices.

Finishing a session, launching the app and scrolling the Timeline are all quicker when you have a long history behind you. Each end now does some fancy math, so the app reads a few numbers instead of every arrow you have ever shot, which programmers and apps hate. The first launch after this update does a one-time catch-up; leave it in the foreground for a minute and you will not notice anything after that.

Changes made on one device now reach the other properly. Correct a score on your phone and your iPad updates that session's total, its place in Insights and its personal best without a relaunch, once iCloud delivers it.

Moving an arrow is deliberate now. Rest your finger on a mark and it rises off the paper, then pops into your hand to be dragged. Sliding your finger no longer picks one up, so scoping in beside your last arrow places a new one instead of dragging the old one. On iPad it rises with a cue.

Insights charts no longer go stale or empty when you switch periods quickly or step back mid-load.

This update makes blank-bale practice easier, adds more rounds, and smooths out scoring and session finishing.

• Imperial scoring: choose 5 Zone scoring for scores of 9, 7, 5, 3, 1 and Miss, with Score, Hits and Golds summaries. Your choice is remembered for next time. York, St Nicholas and Warwick rounds are now recognised.

• Simpler blank bale: count arrows, correct any end, and move between ends more easily. A countdown ring shows when the current end will close automatically. Fixed a bug that could leave the counting controls hidden.

• More rounds: added recognition for NASP Bullseye and S3DA indoor rounds on the blue NFAA faces.

• Scoring that remembers: your score sheet sort order now sticks, and changing the distance updates round suggestions straight away.

• Smoother sessions: reduced pauses when finishing a session and improved Insights responsiveness.

• iCloud fixes: turning off iCloud Sync now correctly stops syncing after restarting the app. Previously, syncing could continue despite the setting. Fixed an issue that could add an empty end when opening a synced session.

There’s also a new About page in Profile, easier access to support, and small visual refinements throughout.

Fixes and a few gentle improvements.

If you use iCloud, sessions could briefly show as zero or empty, while your history was still syncing. Nothing was ever lost, but it looked alarming. Fixed.

The app no longer opens to a blank screen while it starts up, and it gets out of your way faster once it has. If you have a lot of history behind you, the Timeline used to lock up for a moment before it would take a tap. This was especially true for folks with over a thousand sessions. It doesn't now.

Distance and face size now carry over from your last session, so a regular practice setup stops being something you re-enter every time. Simple Arrows fills them in at the end of a session, tells you it did, and leaves the correction one tap away.

Session Patterns now shows your usual shape behind this week's, so the comparison is on the card instead of one screen deeper.

Dragging along the Insights charts to read a particular week or session keeps up with your finger now. It was heavy before, especially on iPad.

You can save an export straight to Photos.

Profile has been tidied up. Everything that changes how the app looks now sits together under Appearance, instead of being scattered around.

If you use 3D arrows, there are now two nock shapes to pick from under Customize Arrows — Symmetric, and a chunkier Asymmetric one. Nocks also sit a little better on the shaft than they did.
