Bad UX. Not possible to upgrade easily *2026-06-21, version 5.2.4* Not worth the price. The app hangs occasionally. The interface is not easy to figure out. The one saving grace was the AI effects. However it stopped working halfway thru our event citing lack of credits. The worst part is that there’s no way to easily add credits. You have to jump thru an insane set of hoops to do it, which we couldn’t spend the time on during the image. So we had to toss it out. Wish I could ask for my money back! ### 2/5 — Update Ruined My Presets *2026-04-07, version 5.2.1* I used this app for a year and loved everything. The update took away a lot of the features the lite version use to have. Now I can’t use it for my family events . Very disappointed. I will look for other apps that work better and update this review with options that work better than this app. ### 3/5 — Nikon DSLR *2025-12-14, version 5.0.6* I hade to switch to Luma Booth since this app is only supporting Canon DSLR cameras. I have a Nikon D600/D610. Can’t use it with Simple booth Halo. I’ll come back to use if it supports my Nikon camera. ### 2/5 — No longer works well *2025-12-05, version 4.3.1* I’ve been using this app for over 5 years now. Unfortunately this latest update has made the app hard to navigate and doesn’t set up correctly from the settings done on the back end. Won’t let us take pictures horizontally anymore. Doesn’t let clients to opt out if they don’t want to share. I had to tear it down at our event as it was causing too much of a commotion for not performing well. Such a disappointment. ### 3/5 — Settings wouldn’t save *2025-11-04, version 4.0.4* Very disappointed in the app this time around. I used this app for my best friend’s baby shower a couple years ago and it worked fantastically. This time around I couldn’t get it to work properly at all. I set it up to take strips of three photos however, every time I tried to take a photo, it kept defaulting to a single. Also, despite ensuring the iPad was an appropriate distance away and the screen and test photo was clear, not a single photo we took actually came out clear. overall, I found the set up to be incredibly challenging this time around and none of my photos saved. It was a waste of $30 and memories lost. Additionally may I suggest the save option default to saving onto the device or into the app. I had so much trouble setting up the app this time around that I didn’t notice neither were selected. ### 2/5 — Account *2025-10-02, version 4.3.2* I’m giving this two stars because My daughter had a graduation and she recommended the simple Booth for our business. She set it up under her name. We use our business card to pay for it during her graduation. I decided to use it for other events and realized that all of our new pictures was under her account. I logged out of her account and I created my own account and when I made a payment that should be applied to my account it applied the subscription to her account even though I was not logged in under her account when I made the payment. It tells me that I have to login under her account if I want to use the subscription I just paid for and there’s no support ready ready to call to get it fixed . I did a chat and they said that they were responding, but I haven’t heard anything back yet. We want to use it for the business and we paid for a business plan. We are in crunch time trying to get ready for an event and cannot use the services that we paid for. ### 3/5 — Understand user experience before using this app *2025-01-28, version 4.0.9* It works quite well, but I was not aware that photos would not be saved in ANY WAY unless the users complete the dialogue after the photo is taken. If they walk away without hitting done, the app considers it to be abandoned and it is not saved. I lost all the photos from my mom’s 70th birthday party and they cannot be recovered. If you use this app, consider having someone stationed by it to help users complete thr process. ### 1/5 — Paid for subscription and can’t use app *2024-11-24, version 4.0.2* Absolutely the worse! You have to choose Photo Booth options (gif, photo, rebound) OR video booth option. The start screen won’t have booth for guests. You’d have to close the app and re enter to switch between both. Other apps have all the options on the start screen for guests… ### 1/5 — Rubbish *2024-10-29, version 3.5.4* Enable to try the software ridiculous, deleting the app straight away ### 1/5 — App not functioning & poor support *2024-10-17, version 3.5.3* I sent multiple messages saying the app wasn’t giving me a print option and it took ages to respond and their fixes showed they weren’t looking at the images sent and no fix. I often had issues with starting the camera because the app didn’t react. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Canot try without buying *2026-02-28, version 5.1.4* Its a scam that they con you into downloading the app only to find out you cannot even look at the interface without subscribing. I even updated to iOS 26 just to make this garbage install. (Prob wrecked my old ipad with that ios update). Bait and switch cisco ith the "free download". Update: Im frustrated at the developer response.. their own customer service team acknowledged how many complaints they were getting regarding these updates. I stand by my original review. The app went from being user friendly to being incredibly difficult to figure out. Like no Home Screen or option to go back. I had to delete and reinstall to get to Home Screen. Also the Core doesn’t allow you to change background color. I will not be using this again. The HaLo version seemed good option to explore prior to that purchase. Downloaded the app and gave my email only to discover there is no ability to even look at the app without the $29 payment. Feels like dishonesty to list as “Get” app. This is not an in app purchase, it is payment to even get access to the app. Didn’t want a free app, just to look at the platform prior to purchase. I may ask Apple if this is how it should be listed in the App Store. I feel a little conned. Even if it’s just girl’s night we have so much fun just taking different pictures and the online gallery always cracks me up the day after our shenanigans lol My bestie even asked to borrow my setup for her wedding. I was a little nervous TBH but it was a huge hit and everything went flawlessly. I just wish I’d had it at my wedding bc the Photo Booth the DJ brought for free was NOT good. The setup I have now is prolly better than his “professional” one lol. So glad I discovered Simple Booth!
