Even after saying I don’t want the free 3-day trial of the premium upgrade, it keeps asking. There are more complex ones out there, but they give the same answer, only to more decimal places (try setting your focus to 19.37 feet, I challenge you!). Most suffer from inconvenient method to enter data: focal length, distance, f/stop; you have to erase current value, then use the keyboard to enter new values. So slow in practice. Many offer long lists of camera models to choose from; kinda nice but the DoF calulation mostly related to sensor size, not camera model. Likely you only need to do this once, though. Many cameras models use the same or equivilent sensor. And lastly, the DoF formula is based on a specific value for the circle of confusion (CoC). (In fact when you pick a camera from the list, you are really selecting the CoC that will be used in the DoF calulation.) Many photographers prefer to choose a value that is somewhat smaller than commonly specified; this has the effect of suggesting a smaller f/stop and larger DoF. Here's where this app shines: it uses scroll wheels to enter data. This makes it incredibly easy to fine tune the DoF values when making compositional changes to focal length using a zoom lens. And in addition to the common list of camera models, you can simply select the CoC you want to use. It also support two camera model (or CoC settings) if you have cameras with different sensors. Whether you decide to use a Camera Model or select a CoC, this app is fast to use and easy to read DoF values. Die App rechnet genau wie eine andere Webseite verkehrt. Der Schärfebereich einer Sony RX10 (1" Zoll Sensor) liegt bei 50mm und F 2.8 bei 61,84cm. Bei der a6000 (APS-C) ist der Schärfebereich 1,13m und bei der A7 (Vollformat) bei 1,73m bei gleicher Brennweite und Blende. In den FAQs steht geschrieben, dass die Brennweite automatisch auf KB umgerechnet wird, also daran kann es nicht liegen. Also sehr interessant, dass je kleiner der Sensor ist, der scharfe Bereich größer wird. So ein Quatsch. Letztendlich sind also alle Angaben in der App ein Witz. Der Entwickler soll aber auf die Richtigkeit bestehen und sich auf die falsch rechnende Webseite berufen. Und dafür auch noch Geld bezahlt. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Prima *2026-05-14, version 9.12* Ich empfehle, den optimalen, persönlich akzeptablen CoC zu justieren: Zollstock in ein paar Meter Entfernung bei offener Blende fotografieren, bei 100% Ansicht den DOF ablesen, dann in der App den CoC so einstellen, dass die App etwa die gleiche DOF berechnet, die man im Bild gesehen hat.
