Cannot add 10 more cards or any other action on the dialog. ### 4/5 — Very Helpful *2014-06-14, version 3.0* I've been looking for an app that would allow me to play flash-card type games based on words from my Kokugo class. I've not tried the import/export functionality, but just based on entering Japanese and English text right from my iPad, then using the cards in front/back and multiple choice drills, I can say this is exactly what I was looking for. Any other features are icing on the cake. I now no longer have to rely on index cards and notebooks or lug around my laptop to play flash-based learning games. However it would be much more convenient if there could be folders to organize the large number of flashcards I make and use for spanish and french. My son is studying sign language and this is the only program we know that allows us to type or say a word he is studying and then have the answer demonstrated in a video. My kids prefer to use this app to study than regular cards and we don't lose these. The program is not super intuitive. It took a little longer to figure out. The graphics are mediocre. I can make cards with words he has learned at school for practice. I can do the same for my older son for his spelling words. The app crashes very frequently, particularly when switching between it and other apps (as is common when looking up info for cards). Moving cards between decks is only accomplished through re-creating the cards, making it nigh impossible to use for a staggered review practice drill (daily, weekly, monthly decks). ### 4/5 — Needs cloud support. *2013-10-17, version 2.5* This is a really great app. I love the flexibility of what you can put on the cards, I love how you can change the size of the font really easily. The tap-to-peek idea is so so useful. The only thing I could recommend is using cloud technology so that people using it on multiple devices can easily sync their cards automatically without having to deal with iTunes. Otherwise, definitely worth $4.49! One more thing, when you tap into a box, the text that says "tap here" should automatically disappear instead of the user having to physically delete it. ### 3/5 — Great for making flashcards/ not a great game *2013-09-16, version 2.4.1* I'm just starting to use this app and am finding it very good for taking pictures and editing, etc. Unfortunately the game is a bit too cluttered for young kids to use. I guess there is no way at this point to use bigger cards for the matching game, thus less images /cards for each game? This would make it much less confusing and more fun for kids. After reading the description, I thought I was getting exactly what I was looking for. Not the case. First of all, it is not user friendly so I'm on pages and I don't know how to get out. Secondly, the touch screen is not sensitive at all; I found myself tapping forcefully only to be further confused because pages I was not anticipating we're showing up. Thirdly, the menu is what 3 or 4 buttons? I still don't know how to navigate app or find what I'm looking for, which is to customize flashcards. The thousands of cards I have created using this app have done more for my language progression than any classroom or other piece of technology. The app allows for images, sounds, multi-language text and has an easy copy/paste function. Each card allows for multiple entries, so users can include synonyms and variations of a given word based on tense. Users can test themselves with their flash cards in variety of ways, from the standard drill test to matching and multiple-choice trivia games. Though, Simple Flash Card Maker truly shines as an on-hand reference, which is something any language learner will respect. If you’re in the middle of speaking your new language and forget a word mid-sentence, the app can be used to quickly retrieve and remind you of that word; it’s like a dictionary, but smaller and faster. Currently, the app is only available to download on iOS devices, so only Apple users will appreciate the app’s seamless and handy synchronization abilities. If you alter or make additions to your card deck, you can easily export your updated cards to another device using either iTunes or iCloud. Out of the two options, iCloud is your best transfer choice. Press export file on one device and import on the other, and your improved card deck will be transferred shortly (a few minutes for giant-sized card decks). ITunes is good to use if you intend to email your card deck to someone, but this requires a computer to play the middle man. Lastly, the developer of the app, Paul, is approachable and friendly. He is more than happy to assist you with any question that you may have. Paul responds quite fast to any email that comes his way, which says a great deal since I live on the other side of the world in relation to him. In summary, this is my favourite app and it should yours too. ### 5/5 — A Great App *2017-11-05, version 3.7* I am using this for basic Japanese and it does exactly what it should. You can easily add and edit cards and using the "any 10" drill I have been adding 30 - 40 new words per day. After 33 years as a chiropractor and desiring to get a NC license, I have national board exams to take which did not exist in the past. A friend turned me on to this APP and I just love it. I type much faster on a keyboard than a touch-screen. 2) Different ways to study the cards. This app allows you to do things like work on 10 cue cards at a time, or go through an entire deck. 3) Most importantly, the main reason I used this through college.... If I know the answer to a cue card, it doesn't ask me again. If I don't know an answer, it re-shuffles that cue card back into the pile. This means you spend more time on things you find challenging and less time on things you've already memorized. ### 5/5 — Love this *2014-01-22, version 2.6* I use this for my sons reading words. I love that you can record the sound on the back of the card, so he can study on his own if he needs to. These flashcards are easy and fun to use.
