## What is Simple Sprint Timer?

I originally built this app for my wife, and wanted to share it in case anyone else finds it useful. It's still in very early beta — expect rough edges, and feel free to reach out with feedback. I've released the source code for free on GitHub in case anyone wants to tinker with it: https://github.com/jasonnmark/SprintTimer

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.8 — 2026-07-01

°F/°C temperature setting (default °F), Imperial/Metric measurement setting (default Imperial) covering wind/altitude/GPS distance/speed/visibility, mph wind in exports, the "Export All Data" toggle with a trimmed sheet-friendly default, newest-day-first / chronological-within-day export ordering, lossless unit-aware CSV round-trip on import, and GPS time removed from new run notes.

### 1.7 — 2026-06-10

* Fixed case where duplicates of runs sometimes created when edited
* Added import feature and added UniqueID to exports so imports can work smartly.
* Continued to refine import
* Added a "GPS time" option to export, and brought it up by default in notes
* Remove feature warning of exceptionally long or short times
* Improved load time and bugs with screens hanging around and hanging the app... (see what I did there? hanging, hanging? Get it?)

### 1.6 — 2026-05-27

Backups now merge instead of replace

### 1.4 — 2026-05-21

* Continue to fiddle with pinch to end runs
* Fixed GPS issues showing "unknown issues" if time was logged when out of range of phone. It should now backfill those using the same code that backfills weather
* Tracking how the run was ended (pinch vs tap), with an offset option in settings if the pinch gives a delay (unknown, requires testing)
* Added option to add notes to "today" before doing runs

### 1.3 — 2026-05-19

- Custom Run Types — Add and manage run types in Settings (e.g. "200m
Hurdles"). Each new run is tagged with its type, so 200m hurdles and a flat
200m show up as separate categories in history, the filter, and CSV / JSON
export. Renaming a type updates every past run that uses it.
  - iPhone edit screen rebuild — Edit a run's distance (via type pulldown),
time, and notes in one place. Brand-new time editor with separate minutes /
seconds / milliseconds fields — no more fighting the decimal keypad to enter
"1:23.456". New Delete button. Swipe down to save.
  - Original Recorded Time and Distance — Every new run permanently saves what
your device captured. Both values stay visible on the edit screen and in
exports even after you edit the run.
  - Hands-free finish capture on Apple Watch — On Series 9 / Ultra 2 and later,
pinch your thumb and index finger together to stop the timer mid-run. A second
pinch confirms Save from the action menu.
  - Behind the scenes — Quieter console logs, fewer redundant watch ↔ iPhone
activation messages, and the App Store Connect encryption-compliance prompt
should stop reappearing on every upload.
