### 3/5 — Good App One Big Flaw

*2025-10-20*

Overall a good app for heart rate zone training, however it does provide distance on display.

### 3/5 — Custom zones not working

*2025-08-17, version 5.5.2*

You cannot customize the Zones as you want or as you medical lab defines them e.g. ZONE two 110 to 135. Sad.

### 4/5 — Need a timer on main screen

*2023-02-03*

Takes a bite to sync the heart rate. Definitively needs a timer on main screen when working out

### 3/5 — Not as good as previous zone

*2023-02-02*

What I didn’t like is I cannot access my score easily. I cannot see how long I am on each zone. It is not keeping history. I see nothing in settings to fix this.

### 4/5 — Almost there…..

*2022-08-02*

Just downloaded app and used it for the first time and had no issues of crashing or other things. Still learning the in’s and outs to use the app. The only issue that I did have was after my workout it doesn’t record to tell you how long you were in each zone. Maybe in the next update it can happen to make it a 5-star app

### 4/5 — Simple et efficace

*2022-01-29, version 4.0.1*

### 4/5 — Great app for monitoring heart rate zones

*2021-09-10*

If you are looking for an app that just displays your heart rate zone during your workouts, without all the other clutter that many other apps provide, this is the one. Nice simple clean interface, perfect for just letting you know where are you are within your heart rate zones.

### 5/5 — A Good App

*2021-08-23*

I like this app because:
1 I can read my HR on my phone or watch as I jog or cycle - finger on the camera unnecessary
2 Heart zones are included on the screen.
3. It is accurate compared with my chest strap

I would be useful to have the records recorded on the app for future reflection.

Recommended.

### 5/5 — Simple and effective - love it!

*2021-05-26, version 1.3.5*

Love the simplicity of this app! Gives me exactly what I need to know and nothing more. Super fun to change my zone model for different works. And love that it has the new Peloton Strive score for my rides!

### 5/5 — great hr zone app!

*2021-05-17, version 3.1.2*

I love tracking my workout intensity with zones and this app is super simple to use

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not sure about kcal accuracy

*2026-05-08, version 5.5.2*

I do strength training and cardio. For cardio I use bowflex bike withe stupid jrny app from bowflex. It lists all the stats for the ride but doesn’t connect to my apple watch to be able to show heart rate during ride. I do heart rate zone training so needed something that would show on my iPhone. They suggested I buy I chest strap monitor but the polar h10 one I decided was best is like $100. So I decided to try to find some heart rate app that would work with apple watch first and found this app.
I bought it and tried it out starting both this app and the jrny app at same time then riding for 45mins. This app seemed to work fine for heart rate but I noticed calories didn’t match on both apps. Like it was even close. This app showed much less calories burned than the jrny app. So not sure I’m gonna stick with the app or not since idl which app is correct kcal number.

### 1/5 — SCAM

*2025-04-29*

Paid for the pro version just for it to display 130bpm no matter what the actual HR Monitor says.

**Developer response:** Sorry you are having trouble. It sounds like you may not have the necessary permissions enabled for the app to read your heart rate from the app. Reach out to us at support@pkfitness.com for help.

### 1/5 — Better Apps

*2024-05-23*

This app does not notify you when you are out of Zone, and does not give you an overall summary of the activity. I bought the app and will get use out of it. Just understand there is no trial because they the developer knows it falls short

**Developer response:** We appreciate your feedback. The Zones app writes workout information to Apple Health, it is intended to be used in conjunction with the Apple Fitness app that provides the workout summary and details.

The Zones app does have the ability to set a Low and High Alert range to be notified when you are below and above the set numbers. Are you looking for a notification for when you go in and out of each zone? Would you want this as a haptic vibration or a visual indication?

With regard to the 'no trial' comment, our app can be used on workout for up to 20 minutes in length. The Pro version is provided for users that wish to utilize the app for workouts longer than 20 minutes.

If you are not satisfied with the App, reach out to us at support@pkfitness.com and we can help you get a refund for your purhcase.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2024-03-09*

First few tries after I already bought the Pro version, the app would not track absolutely anything. All the app is is a colorful clock that you payed 10 bucks for

**Developer response:** Hi Mtn Bike boy,
The Zones app requires heart rate which means you must have an Apple Watch or connect a heart rate monitor. Are you trying to use the app without a heart rate monitor?

If so, if you purchased the app, let's get you a refund. Reach out to us at support@pkfitness.com.

### 1/5 — Lousy

*2023-11-10*

Not sure why everyone loves this app

1. Unable to get it till link to my chest HRM (Wahoo TICKR) or my smart watch

2. There is a link in settings to email support. It does not work

Maybe you have to pay to get these features. I sure won’t if I cannot even try the free version (ie it’s worthless - I got exactly what I paid for, namely nothing)

Pretty disappointing

**Developer response:** Thanks for submitting a review and sorry you are having trouble. The free version of the app should give you the ability to connect your Wahoo TICKR. Please reach out to us at support@pkfitness.com. We are happy to help figure out what is going wrong for you and get you up and running with the app.

### 1/5 — Couldn’t Connect it to my nordictrack

*2022-09-15, version 4.0.5*

Wasted $9.99 on this app. What a bummer.

### 1/5 — Don’t buy

*2022-06-20*

App deleted my purchase after 2 months of use. Support won’t respond

### 1/5 — It forces the workout on my watch to stop. Complete waste of money

*2021-05-27, version 3.2.0*

I was hoping this would run at the same time as the workout on my watch as a better way to monitor my heart rate. But whenever I start this app it stops my workout. So I won't be using this anymore.

### 2/5 — Got bug still broke

*2026-08-03*

I use polar h10 chest strap with simple zones app for indoor bike workouts. The app recognizes and connects to the chest strap and tracks my heart rate fine. The problem is with workout calories. It won’t show calories on screen during a workout even tho I have that toggled on in settings but it somehow does record calories in apple health app when I finish my workout.

### 2/5 — Was great before the update

*2022-03-03*

The last update broke this app for me. The heart rate updates on the main screen before you click start but once operating the heart rate stays at whatever it was when you clicked start. It doesn’t work for me anymore.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Found my app

*2025-10-22*

Tried a bunch of heart rate zone training apps, this is the one. I can’t believe I’m actually writing a review for this lol. (I never write reviews)

### 5/5 — Zones are great

*2025-07-01*

Zones are a neat way to display you’re workout burn and other important variables. Thank you for creating useful products

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind comments and for using the Zones app. We love user feedback, let us know how we can improve the app! support@pkfitness.com

### 5/5 — Essential if you need reading glasses and even if you don’t

*2025-03-28*

I bought a Polar H10 to monitor live my HR. Great on a treadmill where I could display my HR on a console, but not outdoors: to see my HR without buying an expensive additional dedicated wrist display I need to stop, don reading glasses, and navigate several screens on my Apple Watch. Very inconvenient if you are training intensively. Enters Zones with its LARGE HR display, that stays on for the duration. I need only to lift my wrist to see it. Problem solved.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the review! We love user feedback, let us know how we can improve the app. support@pkfitness.com

### 5/5 — The simplest yet most effective and accurate!

*2024-08-18*

After trying at least eight different apps to measure heartbeat and zones in my Apple Watch I settled with this one as the best by far. I use other things like a Whoop to track my fitness so all I wanted is an app that displays in big letters on the watch the heart zone and the heartbeat. All you need is 2 taps no complications no sweat great accuracy and works with external Sensors! The heart rate is displayed really fast no waiting time like the native Apple Watch heart.

**Developer response:** We appreciate the review! We love user feedback, let us know how we can improve! support@pkfitness.com

### 5/5 — What I’ve been looking for

*2023-02-27*

Update: latest update from iOS and or WatchOS broke the ability to display the icon via watch complication. It only exists in the all apps view. Please fix!

Love the simplicity and the ability to quickly glance at the color and big heart rate. I do wish that it had a small elapsed time of the workout so I don’t have to get out of the app to view that.

**Developer response:** Hi Jonny, thank you for the review. The elapsed time of the workout would be a great addition, we'll add that in an upcoming release.

### 5/5 — What I’ve been looking for

*2023-01-04, version 4.0.5*

Love the simplicity and the ability to quickly glance at the color and big heart rate. I do wish that it had a small elapsed time of the workout so I don’t have to get out of the app to view that.

### 5/5 — Exactly what I needed for my clientele!

*2022-07-16*

💪🏻👏🏻💪🏻👏🏻💪🏻👏🏻💪🏻👏🏻

### 5/5 — Zones are great

*2022-02-21*

Zones are a neat way to display you’re workout burn and other important variables. Thank you for creating useful products

### 5/5 — Super clean app!

*2021-10-26*

Easy to use! No clutter!
Simply select your zone model (I use the heart health zone) and commence workout. A great tool that lets me focus on my heart health with each type of workout.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the review!

### 5/5 — Elegant and fast!

*2021-10-26*

I like that this app is straight to the point and shows me what I want to see. The fact that the phone and watch show the same info in sync is really cool too.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review.
