### 1/5 — SCAM

*2025-05-16*

I’m being forced to pay $130 ($250 total) for just an electric bill. I live in a 600 sq ft (or less) apartment with a roommate, and they claim we owe $250 which is absolutely ridiculous. I had no problem paying bills before my apartment decided to switch to this app to pay electricity. We both work and I go to school as well, we are hardly ever here and we don’t even have AC either. I have never wanted to get out of a place more. Apps that scam people like this are proof of money hungry, evil people in the world.

### 1/5 — 100% scammers

*2025-02-25*

If you’re reading this make sure you check with you apartment that this app is TRULY affiliated and connected with your apartment. I told my apartment that I already paid my first months utility fees and they told me that I haven’t paid for anything yet. That’s when I knew this app is a scam. They started sending me emails to sign in right after I’ve signed my lease to my apartment. I don’t understand how they got this info, but this is very much predatory.

SimpleBills just a little warning if you charge my bank there will be a problem.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2025-01-13*

I live in a 2 bedroom apartment with one roomate, lights are always off and we never use heat or air conditioning. Simple bills is routinely charging us about 220 dollars a month for utilities. Obviously they are overcharging and taking the extra, even my apartment complex was like yeah that bill makes no sense. Take this app down and send the developers to jail.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2024-09-13*

This company is a scam. My bills normally ranged from $60-$70 every month including the dead of winter in Colorado. The estimated bills they gave me for June and July was $207. I requested the actual bill and somehow that ended up on me being charged an extra $75. So a total of $282 for 2 months of utilities split WITH 4 ROOMMATES. My bills at my other apartment with 4 of us total was around $20 a month in the same city with the same roommates.

### 1/5 — $60 annual fee??? really??

*2024-08-14*

It’s so irritating that i’m forced to pay a annual $60 fee just to sign up when my apartments are partnered with this scalping company so i have no choice but to. other apartments don’t ask a fee when billing so why are they being so greedy?? I already have to pay for rent and food and bills and the annual fees for my complex. seriously?

### 1/5 — Complete Scam

*2024-08-02*

I was asked to pay $235 for my final bill including their “estimation” (yes, 4 ppl in my unit and each pay $235) and when I ask if they would issue me a refund for the overestimated portion of the bill, they replied: I can certainly understand your concern regarding your final bill. Unfortunately, we are unable to make any changes to your billing and are unable to issue another invoice later when the actual bills arrive and if the bill was underestimated or overestimated as we will no longer be managing the utilities for your property after this invoice.

### 1/5 — This Company is a Scam

*2024-07-17*

Absolute scam artists. They will completely overcharge you on each and everyone of your bills and even use “estimations” as part of their billing process. Be prepared to pay over a dollar a day on some bills due to “inclement weather.” They are also no help when you call and only follow a very obvious script. Just a predatory, scammy company that is only out to get as much of your money as possible.

### 1/5 — Almost tripled my normal bill???

*2024-07-15*

I usually pay around $50-60 for my utilities but they’re trying to charge me $170 for a bill an apartment I haven’t been living in for 2 months?? Horrible company. I’m a college student and I don’t have that kind of money since I’m already paying for my apartment, tuition, food, and everything else.

### 1/5 — Greedy business practices

*2024-06-14*

This company will make you pay 2 months worth of “estimated” utilities + the previous months utility bill a month before move-out/renewal and not give you the option to back out of this “estimated” bill.

### 1/5 — Random fees

*2024-06-13*

They will charge you initial $60 for using their free app. They will also charge you additional fees towards the end of your lease because they know people will pay to avoid more fees.

### 1/5 — So expensive

*2024-02-24, version 1.15*

The bills come so expensive

### 1/5 — Worst company, Website and App

*2024-02-22, version 1.15*

Absolutely terrible! The website is impossible and basically forces you to gather personal data on your roommates FOR THEM just to get access to your bill to pay for $16 of utilities! Absolutely Useless! Do they make you jump through these ridiculous hoops in hopes that you’ll make your payment late so you can be impacted by late fees? Hmmm.

### 1/5 — Not even split with roommates? What’s the point

*2024-01-09, version 1.15*

Comparing charges with roommates, the service fails to inform the breakdown of charges and is inconsistent on the divide of rent. Terrible Ui.

### 1/5 — Keep it rolling

*2023-12-01, version 1.15*

Just wanted to hound the 1-star movement

No problems with the actual app

### 1/5 — Worst App Funtion

*2023-10-16, version 1.14*

Tried the website, horrible. Can’t view the bill until a payment method is entered. Tried with this app. Not only can’t view first, it really drives set up of autopay.

### 1/5 — SimpleBills Service Fee?!

*2023-10-04*

I have never written an Apple Store review in my entire life until now. It is absolutely outrageous how much this "service fee" is. Upon receiving my first utility bill, the total ended up being almost $122, with $66 being the actual utility. What’s with the rest of it? The service fee is literally almost the amount of my utility. This is only for a two person apartment by the way. There was no indication of this service fee, and worst of all, my apartment complex reassured their tenants that SimpleBills would be a great option to pay utilities. Anyway, if anyplace uses this application for any payments, please turn away! It is not worth the extra charges.

### 1/5 — $880

*2023-09-18, version 1.14*

$880 dollars a year is what I’m paying this app in “services and taxes”

I’d give no stars if I could.

### 1/5 — Random fees

*2023-08-27*

Being overcharged with 0 explanation is common. If your apartment uses this, get ready

### 1/5 — All The Overcahrge Reviews Are True

*2023-08-16*

Horrendous how much they charge and all the fees they add. My $42 utility bill was turned into a $118 charge because the “Service and Taxes” were $75. I had the AC off nearly all month. Absolutely unbelievable. I know someone else in my complex who payed $180 for their bill last month…. And they have 3 roommates. That’s over $700 just for utilities. Honestly insane. Once they even randomly decided to charge me for electricity twice in one month because they “forgot” the month prior.

### 1/5 — App

*2023-08-08, version 1.14*

shi ssa , the whole app and apartments 🚮

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Utility bills

*2026-03-12*

I have to use this system for my college property and it’s the worse. Bills piles up fast, and at times their system won’t take my payment they forge the owed money to my property which adds a 50 fee to my already payment…they don’t allow you to fix the glitch or anything costumer service is no help. Just pure scam service college properties use to scam their tenants.

### 1/5 — Overcharging is their favorite

*2026-01-22*

Just recently, me and my 3 roommates were gone for the entirety of December excluding a few days but the price of our bill only lowered 5 dollars. Everything was unplugged and unused and our answer that we got for this was just that they practically didn’t know. So unless someone decided to live in our apartment while we were gone, their “per unit” utility chargers are definitely not accurate and the truth is not being said.

### 1/5 — HungryBills

*2025-12-02, version 1.24*

SimpleBills is a predatory company that LOVES to take advantage of their college students. They constantly overcharged my roommates and I and could never prove with it was that much. I called various times to complain and get a breakdown and never got one. Towards the end of our lease they charged us an additional $145.60 charge that would “cover the last months of rent” but instead they pocketed that money and still continued charging us after our lease ended. My roommate and I followed through to receive our money back but we had to do a true up. It was step after step, conversation after conversation just to get our refunds back. At this point we’re 6 months post lease and I finally received my refund. I hate HUNGRYBILLS and I will never ever recommend them to anyone.

### 1/5 — FALSE CHARGES AND MADE UP NUMBERS

*2025-09-08*

Simplebills is a predatory company that manipulates and deceive its users by making up utility figures with no proof. When asked to provide evidence of the electricity we used they said they could not provide it… because they MADE IT UP. They can basically charge you whatever they wish and refuse to show any proof when asked. They continued to charge us months after ending our lease claiming that we had another charge left to pay. They ended up charging us 14 months for a 12 month lease. Their behavior is shady and the support is none existent. They created a whole new bill to charge us for the single final day of rent (31st) and taxed on a “monthly” fee for a period that was one day??? It’s straight up criminal and unethical behavior. I genuinely don’t understand how they are still operating and haven’t been sued into folding.

### 1/5 — listen to the other reviews

*2025-08-27*

take this off the app store. they use predatory tactics to lure people in. DO NOT TRUST THEM AND DONT GIVE THEM ANY FINANCIAL INFORMATION.

### 1/5 — Worst 3rd party company ever

*2025-07-07*

The worst 3rd party company ever they mess up our bills like crazy and just expect us to just pay it if your apartment building uses this go ahead n break your lease

### 1/5 — scam app

*2025-06-30, version 1.21*

estimated fee IMAO

### 1/5 — a literal scam… RUN!

*2025-06-23*

if i could rate 0 stars i would! overcharges, takes advantage of students and expects them not to notice the overcharge, the month you move out will be “estimated” to “save you time” but they will take this opportunity to charge you WAYYYYY more.

if you’re looking at a lease and they use simple bills for utilities, DONT SIGN… look somewhere else! again, they target and exploit students!

### 1/5 — I hate it here

*2025-06-20*

First, not only do they literally force you to pay to use the service, they preemptively charge you in the last month by “estimating” how much your utilities is even if you move out and the total amount is ridiculous.

### 1/5 — Terrible service

*2025-06-17*

Service fees are expensive and they love to double charge you

## Most praised reviews (4 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — It’s so weird to see all of those bad reviews

*2023-01-13, version 1.11*

You guys need to see the app itself and I hope that Apple terminates the accounts of those scammers who try to mislead the general public. It works just fine and it runs pretty smoothly.

### 5/5 — Works just fine

*2021-08-12, version 1.07*

Every company has some fees and 3$ for a credit card isn’t that bad

### 5/5 — Ratio

*2021-06-02, version 1.05*

Having a 1 star because of one review is dumb, this app has been helpful and makes paying bills quick and easy!

### 2/5 — Too expensive service fee

*2020-02-01, version 1.0*

They charges a service fee for managing utilities, but it is too expensive. My electricity cost was $39 and simplepay added $18 for only service fee. Moreover, the credit or debit card store fee is $3 per month, ridiculous
