*2024-06-07, version 3.2.7*

This app no longer works on my iPhone. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it still refuses to load. It used to be pretty good, but is now worthless. I’m m guessing their failure to update the app in over 3 years is why it no longer works.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Dead app

*2025-12-28, version 3.2.7*

The app is dead and shouldnt be on the App store

### 1/5 — App no longer supported

*2025-11-02, version 3.2.7*

Used app to link garage door opener to Alexa as many others stated. This app has stopped working for months not where it just opens to a white screen.

App should be removed from App Store since developer no longer support it.

### 1/5 — Does not work on my phone

*2025-10-16, version 3.2.7*

I was going to try to use this app to automate my garage door opener, which is not supported by Amazon Alexa. However, was downloading the app and opening it. All I would get is a white screen and the app did not load. Kind of a bummer as I was looking forward to being able to use this app to connect my garage door opener to Alexa through this app I wish it would’ve worked.

### 1/5 — Where is the App?

*2025-10-11, version 3.2.7*

Is there actually an app? I downloaded it, and it opened to a blank, white screen. I waited…nothing. Close and reopen…nothing. Re-downloaded…nothing. Restarted my phone…nothing. The app appears to be a blank white screen with zero functionality.

### 1/5 — App down and defective

*2025-09-22, version 3.2.7*

Downloaded the app but just a blank screen. I deleted and re installed the app 4 times but nothing. Just a dead white blank screen. This definitely matches up with its general 2 star review. I’m giving it a 1 star since it doesn’t even open up. This app needs some serious reconstruction.

### 1/5 — Waste of time. Doesn't work with iPhone...

*2025-09-17, version 3.2.7*

Just downloaded this app upon recommendation from a reddit post. I try to open the app on my iPhone 15 pro max, and all I get is a white screen. When I look at the app listing in the App Store, I see that it hasn't been updated in over 4 years...... Why is this app even available for download, if the developer stopped maintaining it?!

### 1/5 — Don't download this app

*2025-09-08, version 3.2.7*

It does not work. Last update was 4 years ago. Just blank screen.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t do ANYTHING

*2025-08-22, version 3.2.7*

Downloaded the App - opened it - get a blank white screen.

### 1/5 — Outdated and doesn't open

*2025-08-15, version 3.2.7*

The app is outdated and doesn't open. Don't waste your time downloading. Odd that the app still hosts the app.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2025-07-17, version 3.2.7*

Does work

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great

*2023-01-18, version 3.2.7*

Perfect app when integrating smart switches and plugs with Ring

### 5/5 — LiveKey didn’t work, so I went back to this

*2022-07-14*

All I wanted to do was use Alexa to open and close my garage door. I installed this app, it said I needed to use their new app LiveKey. Well LiveKey doesn’t work for me for whatever reason, after hours of frustration I decided to just do what I needed in SimpleCommands and it worked perfectly first try. If you don’t already have an account, create one in LiveKey then come back here and use this.

### 5/5 — Truly amazing

*2021-12-02, version 3.2.7*

You have done a awesome job simplify and integrating a lot of products. We’ll done!

### 5/5 — Now I can use Siri/widgets with myQ

*2021-09-25*

I found this app via Reddit, because myQ makes it impossible to set up your own Siri commands to open/close their garages. They also don’t provide any widget access whatsoever. Instead they want you to buy yet another expensive “Siri” device that is barely ever in stock and a pain to set up. This type of stuff should obviously come with your original purchase, like every other company does. Just poor business practice.

Long story short, I had my myQ open/close Siri commands running in about 10 minutes with this app. Thank you to the developer(s) for that. I will say that this app isn’t exactly for the novice user, but the developer(s) attempt to do so via EXCELLENT instructions.

I did hit one hurdle in the setup process, though. Note that when they say to click “see more”, just click on the right arrow in the “get contents of” section. Good luck!

### 5/5 — Today’s update fixes everything!

*2020-10-13, version 3.2.3*

Apple Watch can now control Kasa light bulbs in addition to the switches that did also work fine before the update.

Ring alarm support is great. Won’t properly control my Honeywell thermostat but as their own app doesn’t work, I can’t really blame them.

### 5/5 — Terrible update

*2020-09-19, version 3.1.43*

Thank you for fixing the update

### 5/5 — Great support and great product

*2020-09-18, version 3.1.43*

I have so many smart devices, I was able to control 95% of them with Alexa, now with this app I can control 100% with both Alexa and the watch app and with Siri shortcuts. Amazing!

### 5/5 — Impressive automation with Siri and Alexa

*2020-06-28*

I have a LiftMaster garage opener that only worked with the proprietary MyQ app. Using SimpleCommands, I was able to connect Siri and Alexa to my garage opener so I can open AND close with my voice. This is a life changer as I always come home with more stuff than I can carry so closing it with my voice is a major convenience. Customer support is very responsive and helpful when I stumbled with the initial setup.

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2020-01-06*

Ok for simplicity it’s 5 stars!
I have used this to allow Alexa to control our Chamberlain garage door with flawless success... awesome. Have used it to setup some routines on my 89 year old fathers Alexa at home making him happy and feel very safe.

The ONLY thing that they must do is add more connections. We have the Honeywell Total Connect Comfort thermostats upstairs and downstairs in our home as well as my fathers apartment. Would be awesome to be able to get control via SC. The IFTTT app has it, I really hope these folks get it.

### 5/5 — A bit of a learning curve but great app to increase use of Alexa

*2019-12-01*

I first downloaded this app in order to control a MyQ garage door (I’ve since added some other devices). I’ve read many reviews stating the app did not work with MyQ which simply is not true. However, it does take a bit of setup and background research. Note that you cannot simply add the myq device and then sync with Alexa app. You must create routines (one to open and another to close) inside the SimpleCommands app. You will then add those to the Alexa app as scenes and you can then run those within an Alexa routine. I admit it is a bit cumbersome but the SimpleCommands app is providing a workaround that otherwise doesn’t exist so I appreciate the developer for creating a solution. By the way, I learned of the need to create a routine from the app developers support page.

The developer has lots of support articles so take a few minutes to read them and give it a try before leaving a negative review. Again, this app allows me to control something with Alexa that wouldn’t be possible otherwise so thumbs up!
