I will keep my word. Also just to let you know, Your SMS Filter Application works better than Norton. IDK about anyone else but to me, that is DEFINITELY saying something. IDK if you received my previous review but i stated i was having security issues with someone sending me fake identity verification code from a fake code generator. I did find the code in unknown and that’s okay. The first one did not come through and thats really good. That mean’t that it was coming from the fake generator. I’m sharing this app with friends, family, and coworkers. I’m also sharing to social media post’s. Great app!! Version 2 works great with iOS 18 *2025-03-27* This is my go to text spam blocker. You won’t find a more full featured text spam manager, free or paid for, on the App Store, IMO. You can choose automatic blocking from pre-configured lists (useful during political season). You can block by sender and/or body content. Within that context, you can choose case sensitivity, “exact vs contains”, and even route messages to different folders. It’s all in a very simple and intuitive interface. The ability to block email senders, which these days is almost always spam, is built in. Best of all, there’s a “test your filter” option so you can see the results of your blocking or allowing. There are even more filtering options, so download the app and check them out yourself. It is completely free, no restrictions on the number of entries, and no ads. It’s useful to put the iPad native version on an iPad, even one without cellular, if you are forwarding messages to your iPad from your iPhone. This is because the app settings and filters are synchronized over iCloud. So, you can put in a new filter in the app on your iPad and have it take effect on your iPhone for both devices (note that the installation instructions are for a cellular iPad and you do not need to install it on a non-cellular iPad for it to block forwarded text messages) Thoroughly thought out and highly recommended👍 **Developer response:** I am very happy you enjoy the application, thank you for this very thoughtful review! 💚 ### 5/5 — Great *2025-03-26, version 2.0.1* This filter works pretty well but the "Block Email Senders" doesn't seem to work. This app has worked spectacularly well for me since my first review. I can't recall the last time a spam text came through. I am using the developer's automatic blocking feature, which he is constantly updating. Occasionally, I check the "Junk" folder to see if a text message was accidentally blocked. That's very rare and the application makes it easier prevent that in the future. The flexibility the author provide you in terms of allowing and blocking text messages is incredible. And it's free with no ads. 👏 ----------------------------------------------- One of the problems I have with texting is that I receive scam text messages that are sent by email. Supposedly my carrier can block this, but I haven't seen it work yet. When I saw this app had a setting to block text messages sent by email, I decided to download it and take a look. "Simply Filter" offers incredible flexibility in terms of blocking configurations. Once you have created a configuration and/or selected some options, it allows you to test to see if your block will work. That's a pretty cool feature. I also found this app uses iCloud to synchronize settings between multiple installations (ie: installed on an iPhone and an iPad). That is a huge timesaver if you have complex filters set up. If your block is valid, the test will tell you so. The "blocked" text message is treated just like email spam and quietly sent to a text spam folder. For those that don't want to dive into this level of detail, Simply Filter offers a predefined "automatic" configuration. And did I mention it's completely free with no ads?! For now, I'm just going to try it with these emails scammers. If it works as I'm hoping it will, I may set up some additional rules for some more discrete blocking. Finally, I'm really glad to see an application privacy policy from the developer. From my experience, that is often a good sign of application quality. Thanks 🎩 ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — PERSONAL & BANK INFO AT RISK! DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!! *2026-01-01, version 2.1.1* Huge cyber safety risk here. New developer and this is their only app. Also developer is outside of US and a google search shows from Israel with minimum info/history. I downloaded this app and was about to allow access but it states that “The developer of "SimplyFilterSMS" will receive the text, attachments, and sender information in text messages from senders not in your Contacts. Messages may include personal or sensitive information like bank verification codes.” On the app download page it shows data not collected which I find the developer purposely did to be misleading because if you read about those terms the developer doesn’t have to mark that they do if user gives access in the way they have the app setup Please don’t download this app! And if you have delete immediately! The developer dan get every message you get from unknown numbers. Think of how many times a bank or other app sends y a text code for safety. They can easily get that since your email is also used given to them when downloaded app. Basically you risk giving up access to every account online that you have to someone out of the county. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2025-01-04, version 2.0.0* I installed this app because I keep getting bombarded with political messages and I wanted to get rid of them. This app has failed to stop it and I’m still getting political text messages asking for donations. This app doesn’t do anything at all. It has an incredible amount of configurability for blocking or allowing text messages. However, I wanted to write a new review because with iOS 26 filtering simply filter sms becomes much more powerful. That's because Apple now allows you to select whether or not you want to be notified if a SMS message is sent to the "transactions" or "promotions" folders. You could let iOS try to figure it out how to route an incoming message, but I've already had one message that was not a transaction end up in the transaction folder. With simply filter SMS, you have a lot more control over where you want to route messages and how you get notified about them. The app is free with no ads, no paid upgrades. The developer is providing a great service to the iOS community by providing such a useful tool. ### 5/5 — Probably the best message filter to use with iOS 26 *2025-10-28* I have happily been using simply filter SMS for several years. Spam only comes into iMessage when you don’t put effort, and I’ve also had one message from a valid sender show up in my morning summary but not in my texts.
