## What is Simstreet?

Learn how the stock market works by trading it — with $10,000 of practice money and none of your own. SimStreet is a paper-trading simulator built for people who want to understand investing before risking anything real.

Every account starts with $10,000 in fictional funds. There are no real trades, no brokerage account, no deposits and no in-app purchases. Nothing you do here touches real money.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

- Buy and sell any company in the S&P 500, plus an S&P 500 index fund, using practice money
- Read a report card for any company: a letter grade, plus four numbers that matter — what you pay per dollar of profit, how much of each dollar the company keeps, how fast it is growing, and how much it owes — each shown against the median for its sector, so a figure always has something to be compared to
- Say why you're buying in one sentence, and see that reason again months later when you go to sell
- Watch your portfolio's value, your mix of index versus individual picks, and how far you have drifted from the balance you set

LEARN AS YOU GO

Five levels cover time horizon and what a real crash looks like, what a share actually is, why owning the whole market works, how to read a company, and how to think about a portfolio. Finishing a level credits $1,000 more practice money to invest.

Nothing is locked. You can buy any company from your first day — the levels teach, they don't gate.

PLAY WITH FRIENDS

Create a private league, share the invite code, and compare returns with people you know. There is also a global leaderboard where portfolios appear under rotating anonymous handles rather than names, and you can opt out of it entirely. There is no free-text chat between members by design.

IMPORTANT

SimStreet is an educational simulator. It is not a brokerage, not investment advice, and no real money is ever involved. Prices are delayed — refreshed about every ten minutes — and are provided for learning, never for making real financial decisions.

You must be 13 or older to create an account.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 4 — 2026-09-11

The Compete leaderboard now ranks everyone on their overall return since the $10,000 start — the same figure your own Portfolio shows. It could previously rank a portfolio on a single strong day, so the board and your home screen could show two different numbers for the same account on the same day. Private league standings already worked this way; both now agree.
Your own return on the leaderboard is labelled for what it is: your overall return, not "this month".
The Portfolio trend chart stays inside its card. On an account with only a few days of history the shaded area could run past the edge of the card and off the side of the screen.
Tab labels at the bottom no longer break onto a second line when the system text size is turned up, which had made the bar grow and push into the content above it.
Clearer wording on the Portfolio screen: each level you complete credits $1,000 to your buying power.

### 3 — 2026-09-05

See how your league actually plays.
Tap anyone in a private league to see their portfolio: what they hold, how much of each, and how their mix compares to yours. Read-only — you can look, never change anything.
Prefer to keep yours to yourself? Profile > Holdings in leagues hides your positions while your name and return stay in the standings.
League standings now rank on real returns rather than showing everyone at 0%.
The Portfolio trend chart draws your history again, and says so plainly on day one instead of showing an empty box.
Slow or unreachable connections now fail in seconds with a message you can act on, instead of a spinner that never resolves.
