## What is SimuLook?

SimuLook is the community app for Fujifilm photographers who care about
how their photos look straight out of camera. Discover, create, save, and
share film simulation recipes — the exact in-camera settings (PROVIA,
Classic Chrome, ACROS, Velvia, dynamic range, white balance, grain,
clarity, and more) that give Fujifilm's JPEGs their distinctive look.

Local recipes, community browsing, reading supported Fujifilm photos, and
reading or backing up C1–C7 are free. Premium unlocks verified camera writing
and, on supported Macs, physically proven in-camera RAF development. A
SimuLook account is optional for local use and browsing, and is required only
for community actions.

— DISCOVER —
Browse published recipes in the Fujifilm community feed. Search by text,
switch between Latest and Trending,
and use the Black & White filter. Pagination loads more as you scroll.
No account required to browse.

— CREATE —
Build your own recipes in a guided four-step wizard. Add up to six sample
photos with EXIF metadata. Save as a draft, then publish to the community
when you're ready. Edit, reorder photos, or delete published recipes at
any time.

— SAVE & ORGANIZE —
Bookmark recipes from the community feed into your personal library.
Favorite the ones you actually use day-to-day. Import or export your
local library as JSON to share with friends or back up.

— CAMERA COMPATIBILITY —
SimuLook knows which film simulations and settings are supported by 17
Fujifilm bodies (X-H2, X-H2S, X-T5, X-T4, X-T3, X-T30 II, X-S20, X-S10,
X-Pro3, X-E4, X-M5, X100VI, X100V, X100F, GFX 100 II, GFX 100S,
GFX 50S II). Compatibility
badges on every card and a "My camera only" filter keep you from
recipes that don't apply.

— FOLLOW PHOTOGRAPHERS —
Sign in with Apple or email to follow creators, leave comments, like the
recipes that inspire you, and message a photographer directly. An
activity screen tells you when someone follows you or reacts to your
work. Your activity stays private to you — we don't sell or share your
data.

— READ A RECIPE OUT OF A PHOTO —
Pick a supported original Fujifilm JPEG that retains its camera metadata and
SimuLook reads the available recipe settings out of the file itself. No cable
or connected camera is needed. It then tells you which of your own recipes it
matches, and names the settings that differ rather than only a percentage.

— STUDIO: TWO HONEST WORKFLOWS —
Open a JPEG, HEIC, or PNG from Photos or Files and compare six recipe directions
with professional tone, color, detail, crop, text, zoom, undo, and export tools.
These are always labelled Software preview. A Fujifilm RAF follows a separate,
explicit path: only a JPEG returned by a supported connected camera is labelled
Camera-developed, and C1–C7 stay untouched.

— RUNS EVERYWHERE —
Universal app: native SwiftUI on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Silicon Mac.
Your local library, saved recipes, and JSON import/export work offline;
community browsing and search require a connection.

— READ YOUR CAMERA'S OWN RECIPES —
Connect a supported Fujifilm camera by USB-C. SimuLook identifies the body
and inspects its available custom slots. X-H2 connection and slot inspection,
plus full photo-recipe read/write on X100VI firmware 1.32, were tested on real
hardware. Unsupported or video-only slots are reported clearly. Reading changes
nothing. Writing requires your explicit choice, one slot at a time, and every
value is read back afterwards. The app never takes a picture.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.7 — 2026-08-24

Publishing a recipe to the community now works. If it failed for you before, please try again — nothing you made was lost.

In My Recipes, the From camera, From photos and Published filters now show the recipes they promise. Until now they came back empty no matter what you had.

A recipe read from a photo or from the camera now keeps its High ISO NR value, and signing in with the wrong password now says so instead of showing a general error.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-08-22

Sending a recipe to your camera is now one tap from the Recipes tab — you no longer have to plug in first to discover the feature exists. It appears only for cameras SimuLook can actually write to.

The purchase screen now tells you plainly when writing is not calibrated for the camera you shoot, before you pay rather than after.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-08-19

Sign in with Apple now takes you straight into SimuLook without requiring another name or email form. Profile setup and editing remain optional, and their Mac windows now scroll cleanly without clipped text. This update also improves onboarding at large text sizes, recipe-card actions, tab-bar spacing, camera recovery messages, accessibility targets, privacy disclosures, and localization across all nine languages.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-08-12

A simpler five-tab layout and a new Create hub make every recipe path easier to find. Create manually, read an original Fujifilm JPEG, copy from a connected camera, or import a file. Recipe origins and Preview labels are clearer, camera sessions recover more safely, and new system-permission explanations are fully localized. Includes fixes across onboarding, authentication, legal fallbacks, recipe editing, and iPad and Mac layouts.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-08-09

You can finally edit your profile — add a picture, change your name, username, bio and links.

• Like comments, and reply to them
• Turn notifications on or off for messages and for likes, comments and follows
• Change the email address on your account
• Tap any tag to find more recipes like it
• Share your profile with a link
• Reading a recipe from a photo now also recovers sharpness, colour and noise reduction
• Fixed: a long recipe name was quietly shortened when you saved it
