Sing to Say is a learning tool that uses (original) music to help children learn language. Our goal is to provide a path for early learners to learn words through music. Sing to Say was developed for early communicators ranging from the nonverbal to those with advanced language skills. Our research shows that music and language are acquired in different parts of the brain Music boosts learning language by activating centers of the brain helpful in teaching vocabulary. Sing to Say uses music to bridge to the language centers. It boosts your child’s communication skills through music and engaging learning activities. CONTENT: There is no AI in Sing to Say. All the content is original and developed by the Sing to Say team. The music was composed by Ray Fabi and recorded in studio by professional musicians. Music performances are exciting and original. The songs are well-paced, clear and geared to early learners. The lyrics were written by Stacie Carroll, a special needs educator at TDSB and co-founder. The music tracks were produced by Neil Smolar, film composer and co-founder. Our animators bring the songs to life! It’s a language board that isn’t static. You hit the button and it animates. There’s definitely something about the animation… it triggers a response that’s very powerful. What a great way to teach children who use augmentative/alternative communication (AAC) skills. Sing to Say uses fun characters, animation, music, and song to teach diverse core and fringe words. This app could work great for students with many differences and communication levels. The Help menu is genuinely helpful and the fact that there is data tracking makes this very useful to teachers. When kiddos are in the ‘Learn it’ mode, there are really helpful stimulus prompts to help them get the correct response. Being able to ‘sing’ learned vocabulary after you learn the words makes Sing to Say a fun, language learning AAC game. How’s that for engagement and motivation?! There’s simply nothing else like Sing to Say. There are apps that teach words but this app really uses music and animation in a special way. The little “jingles” for each word are so engaging. And the animations really help to keep attention.
