## What is Singing Tutor?

Singing Tutor is a real-time pitch training tool that shows you exactly where your voice lands as you sing - note by note, with instant visual feedback on a scrolling piano-roll display. Whether you're a vocal coach running lessons, a student working through exercises, or someone who loves karaoke night, Singing Tutor turns your device into a precise vocal practice studio.

REAL-TIME PITCH FEEDBACK - Sing along to MIDI or karaoke (.kar) while watching your pitch accuracy in real time. The app draws your voice as a continuous line over the reference melody, so you can see exactly where you're sharp, flat, or right on target. No guesswork - just clear, visual feedback that helps you improve faster than listening alone.

FULL KARAOKE LYRICS DISPLAY- Load any .kar karaoke file and see synchronized lyrics scroll across the screen as the music plays. Customize every aspect of the lyrics display: font size, highlight and base colors, animation timing, line opacity, number of visible lines, text alignment, and more. Supports a wide range of text encodings - including Japanese (Shift-JIS, EUC-JP), Chinese (GBK, Big5), Korean (EUC-KR), Cyrillic, and many others - so your international karaoke library works out of the box. The active syllable highlights in real time, giving you a true karaoke experience with pitch training on top.

AUDIO DEVICE & MIXER CONTROLS - Choose exactly which audio output device and input microphone to use. The built-in mixer gives you independent volume control over four output tracks - Background, Melody, Accompaniment, and Voice Reference . So you can dial in the perfect practice mix. Mute or solo any track instantly. On the input side, configure your microphone and enable or disable mic loopback to hear yourself through your speakers while you sing.

VISUAL REFERENCE TRACKS - Load a MIDI or karaoke file and see the target melody displayed as note blocks on the piano-roll. You can also load previously recorded voice files (.stf) as a visual reference - great for comparing today's attempt against your personal best. Follow the melody visually while you sing, and watch your voice line track against the target notes.

BACKING TRACK PLAYBACK - Load any MP3 as a backing track to sing along with during practice. MP3 tracks play as audio only — no visual reference on the piano-roll — making them ideal when you know the melody and just need accompaniment. Use the built-in mixer to set the backing track volume exactly where you want it.

CUSTOMIZABLE PRACTICE SESSIONS - Toggle individual tracks on or off during playback or recording. Turn off the melody line to test yourself, keep the accompaniment for context, or solo the voice reference to study phrasing. Every combination is available for both Play and Record modes, so you can structure sessions around exactly what you're working on.

RECORDING, PLAYBACK & EXPORT - Record your singing sessions and save them as .stf voice files for later review. Replay any recording with the reference track to see how your pitch compared. When you're ready to share, export your recording - including the background track - as an MP3 file.

LATENCY COMPENSATION - On some systems, audio input and output can be slightly out of sync. The Latency Compensate setting lets you adjust the voice line and cursor offset in milliseconds, so what you see on screen accurately reflects when you actually sang each note. Dial it in once and every session stays aligned.

VOLUME INDICATOR - A real-time volume meter sits next to the piano keyboard, showing your current input level at a glance. In Duet mode, two independent meters are displayed - one per singer.

Singing Tutor works with the files you already have. Load MIDI files for melody and accompaniment, .kar files for karaoke with lyrics, or MP3s for backing tracks. No built-in song library required - use any song you want.

Start singing. See exactly how you sound.

### 4/5 — Does what is says

*2018-10-14*

Simple piece of kit, import midi files or mp3 and get a line drawn to to demonstrate the picth you are singing to. Works fine on High Sierra. Would be great to add Note names e.g. C2, D2, A4… on the keyboard so you know where you are, and the ability to use your keyboard to play notes as well, that would make it 5 star

### 1/5 — OK

*2018-08-06*

This was the most disappointing, stupid, trashest app…it literaly just pops up a screen on your device that plays the same thing over and over till you want to punch your screen to give your ears a big favor…Don’t waste your money, even if it is only $0.99, doesn’t even deserve that much.

### 1/5 — Buggy / Doesn’t work on Sierra

*2017-12-31*

Just bought this and have spent 20 minutes trying to get it to work but it just feels super buggy. The main interace contains four sliders (two horizonal and two verital) and it’s not clear what they do. When you try to move the sliders with the mouse, they slider controls jump around all over the place in a seemingly random way. It’s a shame because it looks like this program had potential. Perhaps it worked better on earlier versions of OSX but I can say that this version doesn’t work on Sierra in December 2017.

### 1/5 — Should have paid attention - Don’t Buy!!!!

*2017-10-22*

I didn’t mind that it only showed the pitch change of my voice. that's what I wanted, but it doesn’t do it very well. It really does just go up and down. I thought it would have a pitch read out rather than just the keyboard at the side. It doesn’t. Also, if you stop the midi player and record your voice it only records for a few seconds. That’s not much good is it!

### 2/5 — this is a waste of money.

*2015-04-17*

This app is a waste of money. You just see the thingy-ma-bobber go up and down every time you sing or speak.. DONT BUY!

### 3/5 — Its OK

*2014-05-13, version 1.0*

For $1, I am getting something out of it ….. fun for one thing.
Though all the midi "reference" songs I have downloaded - the voice part is an octave too high. So it doesn't look like your screenshot there. Is there a way to change the octave of the midi or of the position of the voice trace? I would suggest you have a few "training" reference midis on your web-site for us to download, one for each voice: soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, and bass. Also it may be better to adjust the color of the note bars - I wasn't sure at first where to aim - maybe more contrast with the blue bars would help. I think it is a little tricky to relate to it at the start, but its fun and helps my flat singing issue.

### 1/5 — Not worth 99 cents!!

*2013-10-02, version 1.0*

This App is horrible!!!

### 1/5 — this app does not do anything

*2013-07-13*

there, i said it.

### 1/5 — don't bother wasting 99 cents

*2013-05-16*

sorry, but the pitch recognition works only about 50% of the time. Even if there was an actual User Interface with this app you couldn't use for anything other than watching how bad the pitch capture is. sing for your grandma, she has a better ear even without her hearing aids.

### 2/5 — Good idea, how do I use it but?

*2013-03-13*

Its quite a good idea, being able to visually see what notes your voice is hitting (+ve) but when I load a recording of my voice in it is not actually doing anything with respect to mapping the pitches visually like it says it supposed to. Could you include documentation on how to use it? I feel I have wasted 0.99cents without knowing how the program works. I thought it would be simple but at this stage its nothing but a basic mp3 player for me at least. (-ve) 2 stars, if you show me how to use it and finish the program i'll give you 4 stars.
