## What is Sir Linkalot Spelling?

This is the 'Future of Spelling' - Sir Linkalot’s award-winning app improves spelling for children of all ages and ability.

With hundreds of spelling animations and ‘links’ to help you learn them, the app is perfect for boosting school lessons, assisting home schooling and hitting UK national curriculum SPAG criteria (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar).

The app is suitable for students of 4+ years with words grouped into varying difficulty levels.

Challenge yourself with the app’s multiple-choice test and crossword challenges and keep track of your scores as you improve. Students using the Sir Linkalot app typically improve their spelling scores by 70%, with a 150% improvement for those who find learning tricky.

The app is divided into six key elements of literacy: spelling, homophones, rules & patterns, punctuation & grammar, prefixes and etymology (origin of words). A new addition is the Times Tables (2x2 to 12x12) with lots more Maths to come. These are categorised into bundles with each based on a renowned literary or Maths figure. We're always adding more bundles to further your knowledge.

Sir Linkalot’s partner-in-crime, Lady Lexicographer (aka TV’s Susie Dent), whose favourite book is the dictionary, will reveal the origin of certain words on the app that have an interesting story to tell including prefixes.

“Sir Linkalot is a fascinating and fun means of memorizing and visualizing words” – Skillswise, BBC

### 5/5 — This is the best app

*2026-01-28, version 2.1*

I love this app it’s so easy to learn from the links work really well!

### 1/5 — Not Free

*2026-01-08*

This app is not free like it claims. You download and literally can’t do anything. Big bummer

**Developer response:** Hi Nick

The app costs £6.99 or £49.99 a year. The latter has a week's free trial.

Would you mind taking a screenshot of where it says it's free as it's the first time we've been told this? So, I'm guessing someone in our team has changed something.

Here's a clip to show you what it's all about (you'll see a recently-knighted wordsmith wizard giving a ringing endorsement at the end)...

Please accept my apologies if you have seen some wrong information.

### 4/5 — Niec

### 4/5 — IT IS SO GOOD FOR MY KIDDOS

*2025-04-29, version 2.1*

my kids love it maybe you try it!❤️

### 3/5 — Ok but…🤔

*2025-01-06*

It is cool but it’s not free. I had to subscribe and it was not just spelling there was math and to many videos. There are levels but it does not tell you what level your on it only will go to level three my child said it was not that cool but she will still do it. I got another spelling app it was better.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback; it's appreciated. Apologies for the app not being free but these things cost a fair bit to maintain. If we could make it free, we would, as we wouldn't want someone missing out because of the cost.

We would love to know what other resource has got ways to help students learn to spell tricky non-phonetic words like 'they', 'was', 'special', 'business' and 'separate'.

There are many resources that cover phonics, spelling rules and patterns but. as far as we know there isn't anything for the red/sight words that children need to commit to memory.

Would it be possible to elaborate on your comment about the levels?

Thanks again.

### 5/5 — :)

*2024-11-17, version 2.1*

### 1/5 — Not that good

*2024-04-12, version 2.1*

So I had to spend money for my son to learn and it’s not that good but i wouldn’t recommend it but it’s good
