## What is Sit?

Sit is a beautiful, simple, meditation timer, designed for everyone – beginner to expert.

* Set the Timer – Set any amount of time for your warmup period, main session, and cooldown period. To skip warmup or cooldown, leave just set it to zero.

* Visual Progress – Sit uses a fullscreen progress bar to show how far you are into your session. It resembles a glass filling with water.

* Record Your Thoughts – After your session, write an journal entry about what passed through your mind while you sat. Your entries are also available later for editing.

* Sit Has a Great Memory – Sit remembers your session from last time so your next session is as easy as opening Sit and pressing "Begin."

* Streaks and Past Sessions – Sit keeps track of every meditation session you've done and shows them in a log, along with your optional journal entries. Continuous days of practice are shown along the left side of the screen so you can keep track of streaks.

* iCloud Upload – All sessions, new and old will be uploaded to your iCloud account for backup (cross-device support, coming soon)

Special thanks to the San Francisco Zen Center for providing the singing bowl sounds that you will hear in the app.

### 5/5 — Elegant

*2023-10-01*

Both this developer’s apps are simple and clean. Just what you need and no ads or upselling. I’d gladly pay for them if that was an option.

### 5/5 — Copy and pasting it into the email

*2023-09-06*

G C I have to be there at five thirty so I’ll

### 2/5 — Deleted journal entries?

*2020-05-19*

I love that it’s really simple but as someone else noted it does randomly delete certain journal entries and that’s a bit frustrating because it makes it harder to keep track of my progress, and sometimes those entries are pretty important. That’s my only complaint but it is frustrating sometimes especially when I can’t pinpoint why they’re deleting.

### 3/5 — Lately there are problems

*2019-10-29*

I love this app for its simplicity however in the past couple of months (new phone software? I’m not sure), when I make an entry in the journal it gets deleted when I close the app. I often have to rewrite it once or twice. Does t matter if I close the app or power off the phone. It happens either way. As I’m trying to create a more consistent meditation practice I’m trying to keep track of my thoughts and progress. It’s a real bummer when I don’t have the notes to reflect on.

Any thoughts on this? I would give it five stars otherwise.

### 3/5 — Good, but needs improvement.

*2018-08-12, version 1.1.1*

I love the simplicity of the app, and the visual indication of how much time I have left, but there are a couple issues I have with it.

For one, it keeps randomly deleting my notes, which is getting increasingly frustrating. I’ve tried using another simplistic meditation app, but there’s no note function.

The other problem is that this app doesn’t pair with Apple Health, a feature that would’ve been nice to have.

I’ve noticed that the last update was a year ago. I hope the developer(s) haven’t forgotten about this app, as I can’t find a decent enough replacement.

### 1/5 — No sound. No support.

*2018-07-17, version 1.1.1*

Sound no longer works. No one to contact for support. Was a great app but without the timer bell, it’s pretty useless. Tried to re-install. Still nothing.

### 5/5 — Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

*2017-07-13*

Every meditation or timer app I've tried (and I've tried them all) is either oddly childish (really Headspace?), overly complicated, or just plain ugly. Seeing the sit icon on my screen alone calms me down.
Unless looking for a guided meditations (in which case I recommend 10% Happier for the Joseph Goldstein mini class and meditations), Sit is all you need. Lovely.
On a side note, I wish Zack would design a simple interval timer. I'm dying for a simple timer that plays a meditation bell at different intervals throughout the span of an hour.

### 3/5 — Simple, clean.

*2016-12-12, version 1.0*

This is a nice little timer with the key feature (for me) of being able to set prep time beyond 30 sec. it doesn't run in the background, and it doesn't remember time settings. But for general meditation works well. Simple, clean, nice sounds.

### 4/5 — Elegant — Watch app wanted

*2016-05-10*

There's elegance in its simplicity. It's straightforward and functional. I've just began using it because all I need for meditation is a timer with gentle sounds.

However, I'd like an Apple Watch app. I'd honestly rather wear the Watch than have my phone — and all its potential distractions — laying in front of me.

Color themes could also be nice. I might go for moss green or stone brown over blue.

### 1/5 — Mauvais

*2015-11-25, version 1.0*

Très mauvais, pas d'instruction pour garder les notes en mémoire.
