Not good UX in the field. Unfortunately, SiteScape specifically makes use of the LiDAR sensor unit that's only on certain iPhone / iPad models. An iPhone 13 Pro or Pro Max has this sensor, but an iPhone 13 or 13 mini does not. Compatible devices include all iPhone Pro and Pro Max models since iPhone 12 Pro, and all iPad Pro models since 2020. We hope you understand and sorry we cannot be of more help! ### 3/5 — Great app with a stupid cost of subscription *2023-06-19, version 1.7.7* Very nice app but to do anything useful needs a £50 per month sub. Stupidly high price. Check 3dScanner as a slightly less featured but free alternative. ### 3/5 — Scanning works fine, too easy to delete scans *2023-03-20* Scanning works well, it’s just way to easy to accidentally delete scans and there is no way to recover recently deleted scans. At $50/month that’s unacceptable. They should sync to the cloud automatically but don’t since you have to use the cloud portion to get useful results anyway. **Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback! Couldn’t tell you how good it is because I couldn’t make use of it in the way it was advertised. I’ve now wasted 30 min of my life and they should pay me for it or be dumped from the store. Disgusted ### 1/5 — Not compatible iPhone 11 *2022-02-15, version 1.2.1* Says works on this phone(iPhone 11). My phone s up to date with the software but upon opening the app, I says it’s not compatible. Once it is, I’ll update my review. Please change which phones it’s actually compatible with. ### 1/5 — No mention of cost *2021-10-04* Get excited to pay $40/mo for questionably accurate scans that live in some 3rd party cloud! After signing up for an account with no option for Apple login, you get to find out the bait of measuring is actually behind a pay wall. App looks like it was designed by someone who quickly just learned swift and couldn’t be bothered to learn UI design. Normally I wouldn’t be so harsh about this but it’s clear they have cobbled together an app using Apple “gettting started with LiDAR” tutorials and convinced themselves that they are worth $40 FOURTY dollars a month. That’s more than it costs to pay for the iPhone itself. All this, and there are plenty of other apps on the store that offer the same if not better for free. **Developer response:** Hi mailboxhead, apologies for the confusion here but we assure you that the app is 100% free to use! We don't have a measurement tool built into the mobile app but you can freely export scans to professional tools like AutoCAD, free programs like CloudCompare, or other cloud hosting services like Sketchfab, all of which allow you to accurately measure and analyse your scan data. The SiteScape Pro subscription is only for users that would like store scans in the SiteScape Cloud and is completely optional. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Used to be great *2025-08-01, version 1.7.19* It doesn’t work anymore? When I try to scan, the screen just turns black. The app thinks it’s scanning but then when I complete the scan there is nothing captured. I tried to contact support but got no reply. ### 1/5 — Testing *2024-09-04, version 1.7.16* Way too slow unless I’m doing something wrong ### 1/5 — Newest iPhone *2024-04-29, version 1.7.14* Try to open, and a screen pops up saying that the app is only compatible with the newest phones and iOS. I want to test that by doing a couple scans and then exporting the point clouds to my desktop for processing and analysis. But even the most basic functionality requires me to give up personal information for free by signing up for an account with some cloud thing. Le Prix est hallucinant de plus de 50€ par mois soit le même prix pour une année pour une application concurrente. This devices has very minimal apps and a lot of space. Other companies open and work fine. Snake oil *2023-01-04, version 1.6.9* The measurement of the interior of a small house is off as much as more than a foot! Not to mention the interface is very clumsy. Somebody made a half-hearted effort, put it in the App Store, and charge as much as $50 a month for it? Scanning is simple, and requires no skill other than motor skills that a 7 year old could do. When viewing, it lowers the point count when moving the camera so it’s easier to se perspective. Pro Tip: the default point density isn’t even the highest, turn it up! Merci ### 5/5 — Great, simple app for many scanning purposes *2022-06-07* 1.6.1 restores an earlier feature really helps SiteScape be a great tool for landscape planning. SiteScape offers three scanning densities (how closely the scanned points are packed together). The restored “low” density makes landscape scanning quick, easy, and accurate. I haven’t tried the integrated alignment tools yet, but even if you have to manually combine scans, multiple scans in the same session are all oriented and shifted consistently compared to each other. Even using third party tools, this makes it easy to merge point clouds. Beyond the capabilities of the app, the developers have been beyond helpful when I ran into trouble. Despite my frustration, they were patient and walked me through the solution. Cheers & happy scanning! ### 5/5 — Steep subscription price *2022-04-09* Seriously, I just want to scan to pointcloud and export. Literally all of the computations are being done on my device. I realize you need to pay for development. The subscription cost is rather steep when I can get Matterport for the same amount. **Developer response:** Hi there, sorry for the confusion here! Only try to capture about 1000 sqft at a time this keeps export time down and phone from over heating. Do as many of those smaller areas as you can back to back. The cloud compare software is free and will stitch them back together if done properly. Save selected surfaces as e57 then to ReCap save as .Rcp then to civil 3D for countours etc…. Amazing!!! Would love to see what future updates can bring. Export for .XYZ and USDZ for viewing in AR would be top of my list. The speed it pulls in the data points is fantastic. It’s great to scan the room, see a room from a birds eye perspective and the ability to pinch, zoom, pan and rotate fluidity in seconds. ### 5/5 — Perfect for Architecture Business *2021-09-16, version 1.0.13* We’ve been using this since early beta-testing and find it an indispensable tool. We use another scanner to capture point cloud data for most of a project, but this goes where that doesn’t (roof spaces, voids etc). Then during construction meetings, staff can just get their phone out, scan the site and import the .e57 file into our project file to compare to the design!
