### 3/5 — Great app for parents, but needs improvements for sitters

*2026-07-15, version 11.15 (535)*

I think SitterTree is a great app for parents and families who need last-minute care without too much hassle. However, from a babysitter’s perspective, there are several areas where the app could be improved.

First, the recent change to how rates are handled has made things more difficult for sitters. Previously, families posted jobs with the hourly rate they were willing to pay, and sitters could decide whether the job was worth applying for based on the pay and responsibilities. Now, sitters have to choose their rate based on the number of children, which sounds good in theory, but it can cause families to choose the cheaper option rather than the best fit. It also does not allow sitters to adjust their rate based on the details of each individual job. For example, a job with four children who are asleep for most of the booking is very different from actively caring for four children. I think the platform would benefit from allowing families to choose a price range and/or allowing sitters to set their rate based on each specific job.

Secondly, the 11% service fee taken out of sitters’ pay is pretty significant, especially considering families already pay either a subscription fee or a fee per job posting. Many families also do not tip, or tip less than 10%, so this fee can have a noticeable impact on sitters’ earnings. I think the fee structure should be reconsidered to create a better balance between supporting the platform and fairly compensating the caregivers who provide the service.

Lastly, I have concerns about how difficult it can be for qualified sitters to receive bookings. For almost two years, I have consistently applied to jobs and have only been booked for one job this year and one job last year, despite having excellent reviews, extensive childcare experience, and a strong background as a sitter and nanny. I have a 5-star rating, professional experience, and have completed the required background check, yet it has still been extremely difficult to receive consistent opportunities.

I also have concerns about possible bias in the hiring process, particularly affecting Black sitters and other sitters of color. Based on the patterns I have noticed from the types of nannies families have previously hired, I believe this is something the platform should consider looking into. When sitters are required to pay for a background check and maintain a professional profile, there should also be efforts to ensure qualified sitters have fair access to opportunities and that potential bias is being addressed.

Overall, I believe SitterTree has a lot of potential and provides a valuable service for families, but improving rate transparency, reconsidering sitter fees, and creating a fairer booking experience for all qualified sitters would make the platform much stronger.

### 5/5 — Amazing Sitter app

*2026-05-28, version 11.10 (520)*

I’ve had a wonderful experience using the SitterTree app. It’s easy to navigate and I love all the children and working for all of the amazing families and churches. If you’re a sitter in need of extra money and you have a heart for childcare please use this app.

### 5/5 — Thankful

*2026-05-08, version 11.07 (512)*

I’m really thankful I found this app. As a first time mom I’m very anxious on who is with my child but have been in need of a sitter. The app gave me a peace of mind once I saw all the thorough background checks that were done on the sitters and well as certifications such as CPR! Once I figured out how to navigate it, I found it simple to use.

### 5/5 — Working for SitterTree

*2026-05-06, version 11.07 (512)*

I really enjoy working for the families and churches on sitter tree and it’s been a great experience for me thank you sitter tree for giving me an opportunity.

### 5/5 — I’m a mom and I love this app

*2026-04-30, version 11.06 (511)*

It makes booking sitters incredibly easy. We are often able to link up with “favorites” that my kids already know. Sometimes if I book super last minute we end up with someone new but they have all been great! I love the peace of mind that every sitter is vetted, and also knowing I will always be able to get a sitter when I need one. Highly recommend SitterTree!

### 5/5 — 1st Assignment

*2026-04-05, version 11.03 (503)*

It was a pleasure representing SitterTree on my initial assignment at Grace Midtown Church. The staff, sitters and parents were wonderful! I even met a “fellow” SitterTree contractor in the Kidtown Room! Awesome experience!

I’ve had a great experience with SitterTree 👍🏾. I’ve used them for and substitute teaching coverage, and everyone has been dependable, on time, and really good with the kids. As an educator myself, I pay close attention, and I felt comfortable with the care provided. Booking was easy and stress-free. I definitely recommend!

The only thing is the fee I don't think anyone likes the fee

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time or money

*2026-07-08, version 11.15 (535)*

I paid $20 for the app to conduct my background check. They will not let you sign up for jobs without it. I really wanted the daycare jobs because they seemed more guaranteed. When I tried to sign up for DECAL to be fingerprinted it didn’t work. I even tried to sign up on my laptop. I called the company and told them that it wasn’t working and I asked if they could schedule it on their end. They said no and that they are having a problem with DECAL and they are no longer accepting new Daycare jobs for substitutes. So don’t waste your money like I did.

### 1/5 — No jobs

*2026-02-05, version 10.33 (475)*

So far, I have had the app for about two weeks and after I paid for the background check and verify my identity and set up a payout account I have received no job listings at all. I thought it might be because there was none of my area so I tried. Cities and still no jobs. I wouldn’t be upset, but I did pay 20 bucks for the background check in hopes of finding something. I would love to know if I’m doing something wrong.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2026-01-31, version 10.32 (472)*

App is full of discrimination if you are a MALE in the field, you will not be booked for any jobs if you are a MALE

### 1/5 — Price Gouging

*2025-11-08, version 10.21 (431)*

I used to love this service and recommended them to everyone. But the new pricing structure is ridiculous and everyone should just run. For how it’s now run, you might as well find someone on Care.com. What a disappointment!

### 1/5 — I’ve been trying this app for two years

*2025-10-19, version 10.18 (422)*

This is probably the third time i’ve tried to use the app and it does not work. Not only does the location not update when I change my zip code but it’s letting me to add a payment plan when I already did. I’ve deleted and redownloaded it multiple times and now it’s telling me to pay for a background check AGAIN when i did four days ago.

### 1/5 — No jobs available

*2025-09-16, version 10.14 (404)*

I get so many notifications for a job and when I click it’s not there. Literally the worst babysitting app I’ve used. No way to contact the families and you can’t really see much going on except job postings.

### 1/5 — Awful app

*2025-08-31, version 10.10 (393)*

Terrible app. I downloaded after learning about it from another caregiver app. I followed all the steps to set up the account and paid for the background check. I had to unfortunately cancel a booking and it completely closed my account after charging me $20. Terrible app, they take part of your pay from jobs and close your app immediately.

### 1/5 — Sitter

*2025-07-08, version 10.04 (377)*

Why deny a job because you only want to give it to the favorites instead. Not fair for the ones that apply and don’t get the chance to get the work. Treat everyone the same, equal. That’s a waste of time for sitters who apply over and over again to many jobs, knowing it went to the favorites instead .

### 1/5 — Pay and app issues

*2025-07-07, version 10.04 (377)*

I have been with Sitter Tree for a little over two years. Even though I have enjoyed the church as I’ve been to, I do not like the fact that the company charges us a referral fee which takes away part of our pay that we have worked for I recently completed a job that was worth $300 but had a payout of 260 so that was about almost $30 a little over $30 taken out. Plus, not being able to access the instant access feature that has been down for the last couple of days. . inquired about a T-shirt numerous of times, but their customer service does not reply.

### 1/5 — DO NOT GET

*2025-07-06, version 10.02 (369)*

It’s actually $20 to even get jobs after I already did everything, a complete waste of my time and extremely frustrating.

*2026-07-17, version 11.15 (535)*

I have received the perfect assignments thru Sittertree. I’ve interacted with an amazing church, the leaders are anointed and the children make my heart skip a beat.
I’m truly grateful!!

### 5/5 — Overall Great App

*2026-07-17, version 11.15 (535)*

I really enjoy SitterTree and the app. My only complaint is when you apply for a job that may have been posted 2 days ago and the daycare facility will choose you for the job 20 mins before the job starts. Living in the city there is traffic. It would just be nice to know a little more in advance if one had been chosen for a job. Other than that i love the flexibility and quick pay.

### 5/5 — Love this app
