## What is SizeCap?

SizeCap compresses a video to a file size you choose, and checks the real bytes before calling it done.

Pick a video, set a cap (10, 25, 50, or 100 MB, or type your own), and SizeCap works out the bitrate from your number. After compressing, it reads the finished file's actual size. If the file is under your cap, you get it. If your cap is too small for the clip's length, it tells you the smallest size that would work, instead of handing you a file that still fails to upload.

WHAT IT DOES
• Compresses up to 9 videos in one run, each one under the size you set
• Shows the original size, the result size, and the time it took
• Imports from Photos, Files, or the iOS share sheet
• Lets you choose Automatic, Quality (HEVC), or Compatibility output
• Keeps HDR clips in HEVC Main 10 with HDR color information
• Preserves separate audio tracks, or removes every audio track when you want silence
• Queues share-sheet videos safely, then imports them when you open SizeCap to review settings
• Restores the current task after relaunch, keeping finished results and restarting interrupted items
• Pauses the batch when storage is low so you can free space and continue without redoing finished items
• Shows source names when available and lets you remove individual videos before a batch starts
• Lowers resolution before quality collapses when a small cap calls for it
• Saves to your photo library or hands the file to the share sheet
• Lets you keep or remove the capture date on compressed copies; location is not copied
• On iOS 26, a user-started compression can continue in the background with system progress
• Cancel any time; completed batch results stay available
• Leaves your original video untouched

WHY A NUMBER, NOT A SLIDER
Email attachments, course platforms, and upload forms reject files by size. A quality slider makes you guess and re-export until something fits. SizeCap starts from the limit and does the math for you.

YOUR VIDEO STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE
Compression runs on your device. The app has no account and no network code, and the privacy label on this page says no data collected.

WHAT THIS VERSION COSTS
Nothing. No ads, no watermark, and nothing to sign up for.

REQUIREMENTS
iOS 17 or later. Runs on iPhone and iPad.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6 — 2026-09-07

New size preflight warns before encoding when the duration and audio budget cannot fit your limit, with a one-tap suggested adjustment. Longer jobs show an approximate remaining time for the current pass. Relaunching now checks saved output file sizes and keeps the source available for retry when possible. Single-video imports avoid reading the same media details twice. Improved retries for difficult, high-noise clips without relaxing the output size limit.

### 1.5 — 2026-09-06

Restore the current task after relaunching: finished results stay available, while interrupted videos restart without redoing completed items. Low storage now pauses the batch so you can free space and continue. Source names are shown when available, individual batch items can be removed before starting, exported names include SizeCap and the target MB, and the A/B view now includes size, limit, resolution, codec, HDR, and audio details. Output settings, iPad layout, Dynamic Type, dark mode, and VoiceOver are also improved.

### 1.4 — 2026-08-31

Choose a use-case cap with clearer compression guidance, then switch between the original and result at the same timestamp to inspect quality. A new privacy control lets compressed copies keep or remove the capture date; location metadata is not copied to compressed results. If a source already fits and you choose Original, SizeCap shares it unchanged. This update also brings a vivid redesigned icon and workspace, clearer Back, Exit Task, and Close controls, larger accessibility targets, and a more reliable share extension.

### 1.3 — 2026-08-30

Share videos into SizeCap directly. HDR clips remain HDR in HEVC Main 10, separate audio tracks are preserved, and on iOS 26 long user-started compressions can continue in the background with system progress. Photos and Files import, result previews, clearer batch actions, and safer cancellation are also included.

### 1.2 — 2026-08-29

A redesigned iPhone and iPad interface makes the size limit, progress, and finished result easier to read. Batch compression now loads videos one at a time to use less storage, adds thumbnails, real progress, targeted retries, and one-tap sharing. Difficult videos also get safer size targeting and clearer recovery guidance.
