### 4/5 — Cool!

*2026-02-18, version 4.2.1*

Dude, everything here is. Great! I love the old analog sounds, too bad most of it his behind a paywall.

### 4/5 — Great app! One request..

*2026-01-09*

Really wonderful and powerful app. One request: can you please make this Bluetooth compatible? It would be so rad to use my stereo speakers as a playback option. This would open up a wide array of possibilities. It works with earbuds but not Bluetooth speakers for some reason. Other than that, I love it!

### 4/5 — Pretty useful

*2025-02-02*

As a GarageBand user, I like to use some synth apps for more synths. Just plugins and Audio Unit Extensions in general. I get everything free I can and I’ve found some hidden gems. The only way I found this was because I looked at Fingerlab. I use Mynth and Flynth a lot, and they’re nice. I like the Random button on Mynth. But I wanna talk about the SK-51, after all, I’m reviewing it. I only got it a day ago, but I’m already enjoying the experience. However, the only thing I don’t like about the Fingerlab apps is the paywalls. That’s the only thing keeping the SK-51 from being 5 stats. It’s also nice for GarageBand. In my opinion, it’s better and easier to use than the Sampler. They both have things exclusive to them, but I still stand by what I said.

With that being said, SK-51 is a 4-star app. I would recommend.

### 4/5 — Close to the original

*2024-09-14*

This is a lot of fun but after I upgraded to the full version things because a lot less stable. Hopefully an update will fix things

### 3/5 — 3eme avis. Trop de crashs

*2023-07-20*

Après 2 avis très positifs là je rencontre des crashs, l’appli se ferme très souvent quand je change les rythmes…

### 3/5 — hope they will bring it back

*2023-07-07, version 4.0.2*

Rockmate app, its their best app , but sadly they dont develop it,

### 4/5 — Midi for desktop stopped working [Intel/Ventura 13.4]

*2023-05-29*

Flynth & Mynth work fine. It's pretty straight forward to connect, idk what the problem could be though. Other than that, from what I remember, this app was a lot of fun for the price. All fingerlab stuff is great price, and really quick to pick up and just get some inspiration.

UI is classic and simple, also resizable. There's not too many bells or whistles, but tbh...just messin around it's not necessary. Hope there's an update soon.

### 2/5 — Bad demo

*2023-05-23, version 4.0.2*

I would’ve bought this app if it at least let me try the voice sampler to some limited extent first

### 2/5 — Needs Rhythm Fill-In!

*2022-08-28, version 4.0.1*

The Casio SK-1 I had as a child had a button for rhythm fill-ins. Add this, and decrease the empty space in front of the sound when sampling, and this would be a 4 or 5 star app!

### 3/5 — The signature sound isn’t there

*2022-06-06*

SK-1’s portamento feature was the best thing about it.

### 4/5 — Nearly there…

*2022-05-28*

Three suggestions to make it feel more like an SK-5:

1 - On release of the sample button, play a bongo hit. Doesn’t have to have the time limit of the SK-5 but would improve the feel

2 - 8bit 9.75khz sample mode. Perhaps this could be accessed via a submenu (see below) or turned on or off in the FX menu? Problem is it doesn’t sound like an SK-5!

3 - Reverse button. Possibly the best sampling function of the SK-5 (coupled with the bongo confirmation) Again could be a function of the FX menu (or maybe hold down a pad to bring up a submenu?)

### 5/5 — Expérience rétro, top!

*2021-08-14*

J ai deux SK1 et retrouver leurs sons et les intégrer facilement à un setup ipad, c est bien fun. Merci aux dev.

### 5/5 — Please Add Original SK-1 Chord Patterns

*2021-07-22*

The SK-1 had beautiful built in chord patterns in addition to the drum beats. PLEASE ADD THESE. You guys are doing an excellent job otherwise.

### 5/5 — Not worth it

*2021-01-01*

Please make it so we can play any instrument for free. Bye.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Lousy

*2024-10-05*

Would t work’t

### 1/5 — Unstable on Intel

*2023-09-17, version 4.1*

The application automatically quits in an Intel machine, even on standalone mode.

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2023-05-17*

Just to use a keyboard controller the midi mapping is so complex I quite and deleted the app, come on guys any other app you plug in and play.

### 1/5 — crashes on start on ipad pro / ipad os 15

*2021-12-05*

trying to run the au it says i must run the standalone app first to load the samples… maybe a permission problem, in recent ios versions you must ask for some permissions. but in the ios settings for the app there is no permission for network access.

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2021-09-11, version 4.0*

It will record input but no output. That’s the whole reason I paid for it.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2021-02-21, version 3.0.1*

What a piece of junk. Only good enough for a two year ol.

### 1/5 — Mmmm!!!!

*2020-06-05*

Can't record individual drum sounds in Cubasis
When recording drum patterns in Cubasis, nothing is recorded.

Needs a major update then I will give more stars and rewrite my review......

Needs a bit of work..
As does DM1, that needs AUv3....

**Developer response:** SK-51 now support fully AUv3, please update your app.

### 1/5 — Free Ap doesnt let you try any useful features.

*2020-05-12*

The free app is pretty useless without paying to upgrade. You cant even test out the most basic aspects of the sampling feature—the entire point of SK keyboards. So i wont be paying for that feature since I cant even test it out first. The full app may be great, for all I know, but this free version is garbage, since you cant even test out the sampling.

**Developer response:** Hello, sorry but we just can't give you all the apps for free, as this app demand us a lot of work. Does it deserve only one star ?

### 1/5 — Update removed full version purchase

*2020-05-02*

Latest update removed the full version purchase and reverted back to the basic version. Emailed and asked to be refunded for my full version upgrade purchase and no reply from the developer.

**Developer response:** Hello, did you try to restore you purchases ? You have bought it you will get it. We did not receive your email, please contact us at contact@fingerlab.net if you still need help with this issue.

### 1/5 — Lame

*2020-03-29, version 2.0.2*

Meh

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Perfect.

*2026-07-30*

If you don’t give this instrument a 5 star rating, you’re either not a musician or a jerk.

It sounds amazing. I need an AAX or AU version for my DAW.

### 5/5 — AMAZING

*2026-06-09, version 4.2.3*

It is so good it is just like gene’s keyboard from bob’s burgers

### 5/5 — write a rap

*2024-11-27, version 4.1.1*

that’s when my whole life had changed

### 5/5 — digital 8-Bit

*2024-02-19*

I bought a Casio SK-1 back in 1986, at that time a revolutionary affordable 8-Bit sampler. This is his digital son, that remembers me to his father in a good way.

### 5/5 — even the free version is amazing

*2024-01-06*

btw was their dm1 auv3?

### 5/5 — This app shouldn’t be this fun but it is.

*2023-11-19*

As the title says. Woof

### 5/5 — Very handy

*2023-11-18*

Very good, easy to use

### 5/5 — yes

*2022-12-22*

i had the SK1 for nearly 40 years (literally just donated it yesterday because some of the black keys broke off and were missing) and i still have an SK5 that i picked up about a decade ago. this app does what they do and a lot more. it’s excellent.

my only requests would be for a tap tempo and an ability to set the FX separately for the drums and keyboard.

### 5/5 — Thank you

*2022-05-24*

Please audio out through a Bluetooth speaker

### 5/5 — Amazing app.

*2021-11-29*

I very seldom write reviews on here but I just really love this app. Sounds just like the old Casio samplers. The effects are great, too. It has some occasional glitches but it’s worth it.
