The app includes names, scores, and participation history of children, effectively creating searchable profiles of minors — which raises serious privacy and safety concerns. While some competition results may be public, aggregating and distributing this data in an app, without any way for parents to opt out or request removal, is irresponsible. There appears to be no clear privacy policy or mechanism for data correction or deletion. Children’s digital footprints should be treated with care and respect, and this app falls short of ethical data practices. I urge the developers to reconsider how they handle sensitive information and to implement proper privacy controls — especially for minors. **Developer response:** Thank you for raising this important concern. We understand how concerning this can feel as a parent, and we take that concern very seriously. The moment we this parent reached out to us directly, we took action and responded within minutes to hide their child’s profile. While Skater Stats only surfaces information that has already been made public through official competition results that are indexed by search engines, we understand that seeing it in one place can feel different, especially for parents. Skaters and families deserve agency and control, which is why parents and guardians can always request a change or removal at any time, and we’ll act quickly. We appreciate this feedback and as a result are also building new tools to make those choices even easier, by strengthening our privacy tools so skaters and families can manage visibility even more easily and directly in the future.
