## What is Skein?

For people who already read.

Skein doesn't deal you a card or tell you what it means.
It records the cards you draw — from your own deck or in
the app — and turns months of that into something you can
actually look at.

The reading is yours. Skein keeps the record.

PATTERN MIRROR — MONTHS OF YOUR PRACTICE, IN ONE VIEW

Everything here is arithmetic on entries you made. Nothing
is predicted, nothing is interpreted:

• Which cards keep returning — and which you have never
  drawn
• Suit balance and reversal rate across weeks
• A calendar of every day you showed up
• Per-deck breakdown, physical decks included
• Filter by theme, deck, or your own keywords

YOUR DECKS, TRACKED

If you read with real cards, Skein is built for you:

• Register the decks you own and log which one you used
• Pick the cards in the order you drew them, photograph
  the spread
• Write what each card meant to you, today, in your words
• Per-deck stats show which decks you actually reach for
  — and which ones sit on the shelf

THE DAILY CARD — LOGGED, NOT DEALT

• Record the card you drew this morning from your own deck
• No deck to hand? Draw one in the app instead — your
  choice, your entry
• One card a day, kept as a clean series so the patterns
above have something honest to read

A JOURNAL THAT REMEMBERS

• Free-form entries for thoughts, intentions, dreams
• Photo attachments for the moments that matter
• Voice-to-text when typing breaks the flow
• Chronological timeline, fully searchable
• Offline-first — your practice stays on your device

THE NIGHT SKY

A quiet daily ritual that isn't a reading. Catch the star
that drifts across your sky and it stays there, joining a
constellation you weave one night at a time. Miss a night
and nothing is taken away — the thread simply runs unlit
through the gap.

Alongside it, the observable sky: moon phase and
illumination, planets in retrograde, upcoming eclipses.
Facts, not forecasts.

NO AI. NONE.

Card meanings are static reference — traditional keywords
and symbolism, the same text every time. Skein never
generates an interpretation, a reading, or a prediction.
No horoscopes. No personalised forecasts. If you want to
know what a card means to you, you write it.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

• No advertising, no profiling, no third-party trackers

  your device

WRITE HOWEVER SUITS YOU

• Voice-to-text in every reflection field — speech is
transcribed on your device and never leaves your phone
• Supports larger system text sizes
• Animations can be calmed down in Settings

MAKE IT YOURS

• Journal cover themes — leather, botanical, academic,
  witch, stellar
• Four illustrated archetypal card decks
• Customisable card backs, table surfaces, reveal effects
• Cosmetics unlocked through practice milestones

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-10-30

0.1.2 — Your spread, laid out

• Log a reading on a table: pick a spread, tap the slot you
want, place the card. Cards can be marked reversed with a
tap and lie on a cloth, in the order you drew them
• Deck not to hand? Draw in Skein — the card lands face
down and turns over on your table
• Skein remembers the spread and deck you used last time
• A redesigned journal page: captions under every spread,
the question and reflection written on the page
• The default journal gets its own parchment and ornaments
• Share any constellation you have woven — tap it in your
sky's collection. The card has been redrawn too
