## What is Sketudio?

Sketudio is where your drawings start to move.

Sketch a scene, bring it to life with motion and sound, add speech bubbles and your own voice, then share the whole story as a single file that plays in any web browser — no app required on the other end.

Sketudio is a draw-first storytelling studio. You build your story one frame at a time, exactly the way you imagine it, and Sketudio turns those frames into a cinematic comic you can play and share.

DRAW EVERY SCENE YOUR WAY
- Sketch with pen and color tools, pick your frame shape (square, wide, or tall)
- Drop in photos from your library as backgrounds
- Cut out the subject from any photo you import — the background is removed on your device
- Add captions and text labels with built-in text tools
- Start in Simple mode, or switch to Advanced for canvas zoom, layered photos, and on-canvas text

BRING IT TO LIFE WITH MAGIC
- Add cinematic motion — zoom, pan, and playful spins
- Layer in sound effects and screen flashes
- Add speech, thought, shout, and narration bubbles
- Record your own voice, or generate on-device English speech for any bubble

MAKE IT INTERACTIVE
- Turn a frame into a choice — show two buttons and let your reader pick which frame to jump to
- Mark a frame as an ending so every branch of your story can finish its own way
- Build branching, choose-your-own-adventure comics that play right in a browser

PLAY IT TWO WAYS
- Animated Comic: scene-by-scene autoplay with motion, flashes, sound, and bubble reveals
- Comic: a vertical-scroll page where every scene is visible at once

SHARE WITH ANYONE
- Export to a single self-contained file that keeps your motion, timing, audio, and bubbles in one shareable story
- The person you send it to just opens it in any browser. No account, no app, no sign-up
- Keep every export in your Exports Library to replay, re-share, or reopen later
- Back up or move a whole project as a single file — export it to JSON and re-import to pick up right where you left off

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
- Your comics, drawings, photos, and voice clips stay on your device
- Works fully offline — create anywhere, no internet needed
- No accounts, no ads, no tracking

Whether you're sketching a quick gag strip or directing a multi-scene animated comic, Sketudio gives you the studio — you bring the story.

Start with the built-in "How to Use Sketudio" walkthrough and make your first comic right away.

### 4/5 — This app is actually REALLY good BUT

*2026-08-31*

OK, I definitely 100% recommend this game if you wanna make a visual novel but don’t have Renpy or anything or a computer, it’s like genuinely actually easy to use, and I’ve tried lots of different apps to make visual novels. Although I do recommend it, it does have its flaws. Especially if you’re trying to make something a little bit more detailed. So I’m gonna list the things that I don’t really like about it. Take this with a grain of salt. I know I’m the only written review on this app so far. First, the sound effects are really limited and it would be a lot better. If you didn’t have to to only record your voice as a sound effect, but be able to import sound effects that’s definitely something I don’t like about it. Second you are unable to copy or paste frames I feel like this is something that does need to be implemented because for every frame you make (especially if you wanna have a talking scene) you are unable to copy and paste it like at all… that’s something that made me really annoyed. Third I wish there was a way to import characters. (I mean this as in have character puppets or files, you can use inside the app that you can switch their emotions with I can’t explain it that well but… but basically I’m trying to say if I choose a specific option I want to be able to make it so my character can be angry(???) or I can make them happy to sad and such it’s just really hard to do that when you have to constantly keep importing the same pictures over and over again and the fact that you can’t remove them or move them after you pressed place it’s really bad imo. The game is really simple, but I feel like it. It’s a little bit too simple even when you press advanced there’s not a lot of detailed options to use, which in itself seems OK but for something like this, you might need to have a bit more or more specific options. Fourth, in itself is actually good. I’m not using it for its intended purpose. I’m using it for a visual novels instead of the comic reading. But I think if I did do it for the comic, I feel like it would still be lacking… I don’t know what else to say. The app is good but too basic and there’s not much you can do with it. I wish you could customize it a lot more. Especially with the chat bubbles and you not being able to change them or make your own. Like being able to lower the chat bubbles opacity or being able to import your own chat bubble design… again I feel like I might be asking for a little bit too much but yeah, this is just my honest opinion here

UPDATE!!
Thank you for responding to me! I can’t wait to see how the new update turns out and I’ll deff leave another review after the new update!^^

**Developer response:** Thank you - this is the most useful review I could have asked for, and you weren't asking for too much.

Most of your list is in the next update: duplicate a frame with everything on it (drawing, bubbles, voices, effects), import your own sound effects instead of only recording them, and pictures you can move, resize and delete after you place them. Bubbles now take an opacity slider as well as custom colors, so you can fade the fill and let your artwork show behind it.

Re-importing the same picture every time is fixed as well - import it once and it's a pick from your project's list on every frame after that.

Thanks for taking the time to write it all up in this much detail.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.1.1 — 2026-08-31

Sketudio 1.1.1 is all about pictures.

PICTURES YOU CAN KEEP EDITING
- Place a photo and it stays yours: move it, resize it, and in Advanced mode flip, rotate or fade it. It is no longer baked into the drawing.
- Undo a placement if you change your mind, and fit up to 12 pictures on a frame.
- Import a picture once, then reuse it on any frame — the picker shows your project's own pictures first.
- Manage pictures: rename the ones you keep, delete the ones you don't.
- Hide pictures and text with one tap so your pen has the whole frame to itself.

DUPLICATE A FRAME
- Copy a frame with everything on it — artwork, effects, bubbles and their voices, captions and pictures — placed right after the original.

MORE SOUND, MORE STYLE
- Import your own sound effects (mp3, m4a, wav, aac) instead of only recording them.
- Make a bubble's fill see-through so your artwork shows behind it.
- Custom bubble colors now preview in a live swatch as you choose them.

FIXES
- Placed pictures now appear in Comic mode, in frame thumbnails and on project covers.
- Clear now removes placed pictures too.
- Imported photos use far less memory, so picture-heavy projects stay smooth.

As always, everything stays on your device — no accounts, no ads.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-07-23

Sketudio 1.1 makes your comics interactive.

CHOICES & ENDINGS
- Turn a frame into a Choice: show two buttons and let readers pick which frame to jump to — build choose-your-own-adventure stories.
- Mark a frame as an Ending so each branch can finish its own way.
- Style a Choice's buttons: pick their colors and font so they fit the scene.

CUT OUT PHOTOS
- Import a photo and cut the subject out in a tap — the background is removed, right on your device.

SHARPER, BIGGER STORIES
- Frames now render up to full HD, so tall and detailed drawings look crisper.
- Fit up to 30 frames in a single project.

As always, everything stays on your device — no accounts, no ads.

### 1.0 — 2026-06-01
