### 3/5 — Good app needs update

*2017-11-16, version 3.0*

The series is excellent however a bug has omitted the how to ski powder film in this version. Replaced with a redundant how to ski crud. An email to the developer went unanswered.

### 4/5 — Some videos missing

*2017-02-05, version 3.0*

The app works well - a collection of videos. Some of the videos are missing though. The "powder" video for example is actually the "crud" video. So you get that video twice and no powder video... not the end of the world but a bit annoying.

### 5/5 — Very helpful

*2015-01-03, version 2.0*

I like the way you can use this app to get the advice you need at the point you need it. It's great that you can watch it again, after a day's skiing and think about your technique. He's got a really nice manner and explains things clearly, and doesn't jump too many steps at a time.

### 5/5 — Taught me how to ski

*2014-10-06, version 2.0*

This app and the amazing instructor taught me how to ski. I've been on skis for one season so far and I already race down blues and land jumps in the terrain park. Never took lessons and my friends are snowboarders. This guy is great

### 5/5 — Great work!

*2014-03-22, version 2.0*

With a few lessons and this app my skiing has jumped from Bunny slope to blue runs in a season. Clear, logical and very well presented. Love your work Darren.

### 5/5 — Focus

*2014-03-18, version 2.0*

As a beginner skier the videos gave me something to focus on. Each time I skied, I focused on a different technique. This allowed me to go from beginner to intermediate in one season. I highly recommend the videos!

It is what it says and is both clear and precise. Useful!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Sound had failed

*2026-01-17, version 3.0*

Had this app a few years and found it a great refresher however it now appears to be broken. Red banner at bottom of videos and no sound as noted by other users.

### 1/5 — No sound on the video

*2021-11-24, version 3.0*

Good advice if you can lipread! The audio isn’t working at so pointless watching the videos at all.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t seem to work on iPhone 11 latest iOS

*2020-01-11, version 3.0*

The sound doesn’t work and when you watch a second video you just get a red screen.

### 1/5 — No sound

*2019-12-27, version 3.0*

Paid 4,99 but the video has no sound. Not very useful. Other versions have been fine
Update Dec 2019 - reinstalled multiple times an still no sound. No response from developer so advise you don’t download. Shame as these are good videos when watched on you tube

### 1/5 — Is it me or thee

*2017-12-27, version 3.0*

After downloading I try to play but have no sound

### 1/5 — No sound so utterly useless

*2015-03-15, version 2.0*

Video plays without any sound on iPhone 6. Don't bother buying this as it is useless without sound.

### 1/5 — Review

*2013-01-12*

Well, as for the skiing tips I think he does alright through most of the intermediate levels, however, in the advanced segment limitations start to present themselves as we move into the more difficult aspects of skiing, particularly in the skiing stacked, moguls, and powder segments.
As for the App, I find it incomplete. It should have ALL the lessons available in order and add the new lessons added on as they come. I had to fish around way too much to find some of the lessons

### 2/5 — Works poorly on current OS

*2020-02-23, version 3.0*

The app will only play one video then crashes. You have to restart. Additionally the powder video is actually the crud video. This was mentioned by someone else 3 years ago but hasn’t been updated. The videos themselves are quite helpful but can be found for free on YouTube.

### 2/5 — Ski School Advanced

*2011-02-21, version 1.1*

Seems like it could have been a very nice application, but the length of video was very short and didn't really offer enough information to justify the cost.

### 3/5 — Red screen and hang

*2020-02-12, version 3.0*

Seems to hang with red background when
1. Play a video
2. Press done
3. Select a different video

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Taught me how to ski

*2026-03-26, version 3.0*

I’m very thankful for this app as well as the Beginner and Intermediate versions. I had gone skiing several years ago and was to impatient and didn’t want to take the time to get ski lessons. It was horrible, worst thing ever, no fun. This time after going through all three of these apps, for several weeks, just visualizing skiing and going through the motions in my living room, I actually learned all the basics to skiing. Once I got on the mountain I had all the muscle memory and technique down. I actually kept up with and sometimes out-skied my brother-in-law. I highly recommend these apps to anyone.

### 5/5 — Last but best

*2020-09-20, version 3.0*

This last app has helped me with the finesse of my skiing. I highly recommend all three apps regardless of you ability as there are pointers for you at all levels.

### 5/5 — Great - Just make sure you’ve unmuted your phone

*2019-01-14, version 3.0*

Unlike most other apps, if you’ve toggled your phone to silent/vibrate, the audio will not play. Simple fix. Great apps and teaching videos from these folks.

### 5/5 — Ski instructor in your pocket

*2019-01-08, version 3.0*

Found this guide brilliant when learning to ski , & now to go back to whenever needed
Well worth the money

### 5/5 — Your own private coach any time ..

*2018-01-24, version 3.0*

Absolutely superb.
Clear, well paced, well stepped progressions.
Fantastic video lessons as well as reference cards.
Amazing to be able to get someone to video you and compare in a split screen to the app.
What a fantastic resource to look at before hitting the slopes, reinforce lessons in person, review later, or use on the go to sort out problems.

All the levels available from Beginner to Expert are fantastic.
These Apps are.a game changer!

### 5/5 — Super app for tips

*2016-01-17, version 3.0*

Super app as a step up from intermediate - into carving, power and the odd piece of off-piste. I use this as a quick reference to remind me of the things my instructors have taught me when I'm skiing on my own/with friends. The short and direct videos means you can easily jump into the app for a reminder when on the chairlift or in the cafe.

### 5/5 — Will

*2015-03-31, version 2.0*

A useful revision guide . I would reccomend

### 5/5 — Great tuition

*2015-03-30, version 2.0*

Simple advice, straight to the point, every move and position is explained and justified. Great stuff!

### 5/5 — Best ski video tutorial on AppStore

*2015-02-27, version 2.0*

Great quality videos, solid ski techniques, great instructions

### 5/5 — Very well done

*2015-02-23, version 2.0*

This ski lesson app series is very well thought out and executed. The video segments are professional quality with good audio descriptions. The examples are clear (unlike others I have seen). Beautiful locations and backgrounds, too. The progression of skills is logical. I definitely learned some useful tips I can directly apply on my next ski outing. The app costs less than a single issue of a ski magazine.
