It’s possible to get background play, but it’s janky. A seamless experience would be amazing, similar to how YouTube allows you to click your phone off with ease and still listen to the video. The app itself doesn’t shut down but the video crashes. Please help? ### 3/5 — Pretty decent but… *2026-06-08, version 1.1.20* I belong to two professional coaching programs that run on Skool and spend many hours each month consuming video content through the iPhone app. The community features are excellent, but the mobile video experience still feels far behind platforms like YouTube. Most coaching content is consumed while traveling, walking, exercising, or otherwise away from a desk. Unfortunately, the video player often feels like an afterthought rather than a core feature. Basic functions such as resuming where you left off, scrubbing through videos, tracking progress, and navigating long-form content are not as smooth or reliable as they should be. I find myself wishing the playback experience worked more like YouTube Premium or a dedicated learning platform. Better background playback, improved resume functionality, more responsive seeking, playback speed controls that are easier to access, and overall smoother video handling would make a significant difference. The irony is that many of us join Skool specifically for coaching and educational content, yet the content-consumption experience is one of the platform’s weaker areas. The community side is outstanding. If the mobile video player received the same level of attention, Skool would be much stronger as a learning platform. I genuinely like Skool and use it regularly. This review is less a criticism and more a request: please invest in the mobile video experience. For many users, that’s where we spend most of our time. ### 2/5 — Constant crashes *2026-06-08, version 1.1.20* I like the app but at least once a day it crashes for like forty minutes or more! It’s so small compare to my other apps and it’s not adjustable on an iPhone or iPad. Honestly it’s the reason I would leave a community I really like. I know the technology exists within programming bc other apps you can increase it. Messaged Skool few times about this and they always say there’s no issue. But the thing is, multiple people report these issues. The app is constantly closing out randomly, the video playback (what I primarily use it for) is unusable. If something else with sound pops up on my phone the video will just stop working and I have to x out of it and go back to the classroom, scroll through and select the video again. Received three updates on the day of. Meeting never happened. Guy’s just getting data from whoever responds and tries to peddle his own products. ### 1/5 — App stopped working under Apple’s lockdown mode *2026-07-10, version 1.1.20* Please fix bugs that stop app from working after placing iPhone in lockdown mode The app no longer loads and stays at the white screen Other apps work just fine ### 1/5 — Video player bug *2026-07-10, version 1.1.20* There’s an absolutely insane bug in the video player. In the middle of playing a video, it will just randomly stop and reset the video to the beginning. If I’m in the middle of a 2 hour video I’ve completely lost my place. Not sure how this is even possible. It’s taken me months to get a hold of them. Terrible customer service. No one responds and you have to jump through hoops to cancel and I still can’t cancel. Just messaged them on insta. Had to delete every person one by one.
