Sky Tonight is an astronomical app that helps you explore the night sky. It allows you to identify bright dots, discover upcoming astronomical events, and find celestial objects. You can also customize your view, set reminders for events, and access detailed information about space objects.
Key features include a real-time interactive sky map, augmented reality mode, a Time Machine to view past and future celestial positions, customizable object filters, event reminders, an astronomy calendar with a stargazing index and weather forecast, and a flexible search function.
The app is free to download and use, but it offers in-app purchases. This means you can access basic features for free, with the option to purchase additional content or advanced functionalities.
You can track a variety of celestial events including lunar phases, meteor showers, eclipses, oppositions, and conjunctions. The app's calendar provides a comprehensive overview of upcoming and past astronomical occurrences.
The augmented reality mode overlays the sky map onto the image from your device's camera. This allows you to see the real-time positions of celestial objects as if they were projected onto your actual surroundings, making identification easier.
