Map & compass was the game. My younger students who I taught to fly are amazed at our primitive culture, as this app’ is unanimously accepted as the ONLY way to get airborne safely ### 5/5 — Great *2025-07-04* It is a great app, and helps with planning and flight execution. Must have for any GA pilot flying in Europe. However it is important to remember it cannot substitute official sources, as it is not certified by flying regulators. With high reliability it is sometimes easy to forget that it should be used as assist to flight planning not as replacement to official sources, and sometimes crucial information may (and occasionally do), be missing or be different. It's generally very reliable, but when its not it's still your responsibility to ensure flight safety and check all information in official sources, otherwise sooner or later you will breach the regulation and may compromise flight safety and get into serious trouble. Again it's not Skydemon fault as they are doing extra-ordinary good work and it's worth every penny. But be aware and remember this to stay safe and out of trouble. ### 5/5 — Just brilliant, you’d be a fool to fly without it *2025-07-01, version 4.1.1* It is absolutely impossible to detail everything about this brilliant app. The fact that Tim has got an OBE for services to aviation says all that you need to know. One of the best things that has happened to aviation since the Wright Brothers ! ### 5/5 — Unbelievable Aid to Safe Flying *2025-04-19* Having left flying light aircraft in 2012, when I returned to doing so last year, I was totally taken back by the way that SkyDemon had literally taken flying to another level. SkyDemon is so intuitive and user friendly, but more importantly, it gives the pilot all of the tools necessary to ensure that a flight can be planned and conducted legally and safely. Easy access to notams, airfield info and weather together with GPS mapping takes so many of the potential risk areas away. L I thoroughly enjoy planning and flying with SkyDemon and can honestly say that having been a private pilot for 35 years and a commercial pilot for 25 years, SkyDemon is a real piece of ‘wow’ software. For the ease of planning everything is given to you. When flying, safety is massively improved especially around airspace. Integrated with other software such as sky echo or pilotaware, showing other aircraft nearby is brilliant. Keep up the good work. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Updates *2025-07-29, version 4.1.2* Sometimes I find when an update is available it takes donks to load blocking me from using flight planning. ### 1/5 — Just wish it allowed a “Preferred Device” ! *2024-08-24* Like most of the VFR community SkyDemon is my preferred planning tool on my kneepad iPad Mini, and I also keep a fixed tablet on my RV9 panel for navigation. But only allowing 2 logged on SkyDemon devices is a MAJOR pain (and totally arbitrary with a subscription?..). It’s handy in a pub chatting to friends about a possible trip….but….if I dare log into SkyDemon on my phone I know my panel (always the f’ing panel) will be logged out. So next flight I’ll be on the ramp, engine running, requesting airfield information, to find I’m logged out and have to mess about trying to remember passwords or doing resets….why isn’t my email working?….whilst holding up traffic or missing my flight plan time….why SkyDemon?…why?? ### 1/5 — Doesn‘t Work with iPad OS17 *2023-12-04* Was decent tool. Since software update, it will not function unless the app was already installed. Any new device will crash as the app tries to download every single chart existing!! There is no way to chose charts or deselect as in earlier versions. Of course, I never had a chance to register, so nothing worked. Unfortunately the only mapping available is a proprietary map with very poor topographic detail compared the official NATS/CAA half and quarter mil charts. If the developer gave the option to add these chart layers it would be a huge improvement. You already have to buy an extra flight guide such as Pooleys if you want full airfield details, so similar mechanism could be used for those who want proper charts. ### 3/5 — Pilot holding a PPL license *2022-06-03, version 3.16.3* This is an excellent APP that I used during my flight In Bournemouth with stratus device. Hope that to get more future updates Thanks Essa Jaafar ### 3/5 — Support überfordert *2019-05-08* Eigentlich eine gute App, die aber permanent umgestaltet wird. Dabei schleichen sich Dinge ein, die man nicht mehr als Feature bezeichnen kann und der Support selbst nicht mehr versteht, warum die App so reagiert. Beispiel: Suche in der AIP. Tippt man ein paar Zeichen ein, fängt SkyDemon mit der Suche an und filtert Sachen heraus, die eigentlich nicht herausgefiltert werden sollten (z.B. bei der Eingabe von EDM ist plötzlich EDMA nicht mehr dabei). Vom Support kommt dann nur: „Das haben wir sowieso nie gekonnt.“ Ich hätte wenigstens „vielen Dank für den Hinweis“ erwartet, anscheinend zu viel. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Nie wieder ohne *2026-07-26* Ich fliege seit 40 Jahren. Mit noch keinem Programm hat das Fliegen selbst und auch die gewissenhafte Flug Vorbereitung mehr Spaß gemacht als mit SkyDemon. Auch im Ausland funktioniert es mit allen wichtigen Informationen, die man benötigt. Mein Abonnement läuft bereits seit vielen Jahren durchgängig und ich wollte nicht mehr darauf verzichten. ### 5/5 — Skydemon en France *2026-07-10* J’utilise SkyDemon en France pour mes vols et je suis particulièrement satisfait de ce logiciel. Son ergonomie est remarquable : l’interface est intuitive, les informations sont claires et parfaitement organisées, ce qui permet de préparer et suivre un vol avec sérénité.
