I can set the start point, and set the endpoint, but cannot click next to create the video. The problem is that the blue NEXT button stays illuminated for about half of a second and then it’s grayed out, so I cannot click it. ### 3/5 — Local Files *2022-03-27, version 15.11.1* The way the opposite of, if I would like to preview a video, the Skydio app saves it locally. Then, if I’d like to access that video when I’m not connected to the drone, from Photos for example, I cannot. The video files are saved in a private directories so that I can preview them. If I try to save them locally on my phone, it takes quite a bit of time to save each clip. Why not allow users to either access the local videos from the photos app directly, or copy them from the Skydio app directories to photos quickly. Exporting new clips, takes too long. ### 2/5 — Getting better but.... *2021-08-01, version 10.0.0* GUI needs to overlay the full 16:9 image, as currently the live image looks more 4:3. So guesswork is required when framing shots. Cable cam works superbly, but needs more than just two points. Adding POIs in cable cam would be good too. A year on and my above objective comments have evidently been ignored by Skydio. ### 3/5 — Slow to get airborne - no tap-fly function-skill *2020-12-14* If you want to stop your bike and fly - you face very long wait times on the side of the road waiting waiting. Wish it would show actually number of GPS sats & Number for beacon acquired sats like 12+17 sats rather than the childish 3 ripple bars. On hot restarts/drone battery changes, it and the beacon should reacquire GPS lock in 2-5 secs but seems to take as long as a cold start like 2 minutes or more. And has the drone 5000km away on the map rather than the phones location or last known GPS position. Does not ever seem to augment it’s position calculations with the phone’s known GPS position to speed up sat sky searches and I wonder if they have SBAS firmware set to SBAS auto? When finally able to fly the app lacks tap fly mode. Cable is ok but most times too slow to setup. I would choose to tap on a feature to fly toward whilst locked on me as the subject, set ground speed and press go. Wish the settings on the phone allowed me to set cinematic steering rates for the Beacon which is instant blat 100% - it needs a second or two of easing/ramping before getting to 100% rates. Wish the app had a battery store function where it could idle the motors to set the lithium battery back to 70% for proper storage, or just draw down the battery to 70% and shutdown. ### 3/5 — Multiple issues *2020-12-14, version 10.0.0* Initial screen launches in portrait mode, even if my phone is already installed in the controller and landscape is unlocked. App blindly consumes phone’s storage without any kind of rotation or options to set a quote for that or disable a video recording on the phone at all. Video settings of HDR, Manual Record are NOT being saved between sessions, very annoying. ### 3/5 — Why is the app only useable in portrait mode. *2020-12-08, version 10.0.0* Why is this app use only portrait mode. I rarely use this mode. I would prefer to use it in landscape mode so I do not have to switch back and forth if I am using my keyboard that is built into the iPad cover. ### 4/5 — Solid App, room for improvement *2020-11-24, version 10.0.0* I've used many drone apps. This one is pretty smooth and reliable for what it does. It's missing a couple of key subtle touches that would really take it up a notch such as: showing the number of GPS satellites connected on the flight screen, not starting every flight in auto record mode (media controls are okay, but not fully clear in app), and more. If not done, would be good to bench mark the parrot and dji app and get deeper user input. I want the American made drone app to be as world class as the drone itself. And what's up with the crazy storage usage on my phone? I'm at 4gb, and find others online with the same problem, but cannot find any media stored on my device, and no option to explore and clean this up when a drone isn't connected. Don’t know where all the space is being taken up. And the user experience is terrible. Not only does it refuse to establish communications between the drone and the iPhone, every time you attempt to get it to work you have to re-enter Wi-Fi information. This is ridiculous. I’d rather have my data stolen by China than use this American-made monstrosity. ### 1/5 — Expensive Paperweights: DO NOT BUY! *2023-01-19, version 21.1.0* We bought 2 Skydio2+ on recommendation from DroneDeploy. They have been nothing but problematic for the 8 months we have had them. The constant disconnection issues, inability to pair the cheap, flimsy, finicky and gimmicky controller to the drone and constant inability to use in both DroneDeploy and the native app. You have to try for 5-10 minutes each time before a flight to pair the phone and or controller to the drone and then it ends up disconnecting mid flight. Save your hard earned money and buy a drone that actually works and has the customer support that actually helps the customer. The controller is such a joke too, cheaply made but they charge $180 for it. I fixed your slogan too: ‘Skydio 2+ Fly like never before…. If it works’ Don’t buy these drones. Nothing but expensive paperweights. ### 1/5 — Dont be a fool *2023-01-07, version 21.0.1* The drone is total rubbish a long with the beacon! Constantly disconnecting on me! Uncontrollable behavior. ### 1/5 — Save your money *2022-04-06, version 19.0.38* For anyone planning on buying this drone be very cautious. Skydio promotes this drone has being exceptional and tracking and avoiding objects. I can tell you from experience and two skydio crashes thats this drone is garbage. The only way this drone works properly is in a super wide open field and with very bright lighting. Camera quality is not very good and the drone loses connection every second. While regaining connection you have absolutely no control of the drone, do there is no way of you stopping the drone from hitting a branch a powerline. DJI had been out for way longer and believe their drones are way better and actually cheaper. The skydio is $1000 just the drone. With all the accessories you are easily looking at $1600 to $1700 for the basic package. The drone can’t fly until I update it, but the drone won’t update after updating my app... ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Good drone good app *2026-05-19, version 24.10.3* I’ve had this drawn for years in this app for years and never made a review, but truthfully, this is still an amazing drone and a great app to go along with it. I do wish the range was farther for the drone, even when using the beacon in conjunction with the controller, the only thing that sucks is that you can no longer go buy this room, this could very well be the last review of this app who knows but for what it’s worth I’m on the 16 Pro Max whenever I use this drone plugged into the controller with the beacon also on in my pocket because when everything is on and connected, the entire experience is a whole is always better. But yeah, they no longer sell to consumers. They only have contracts with government I do believe and military. They’re both reliable and the drone has the best obstacles avoidance system there is. The app works seamlessly with the drone and though they may only release new features not as often as there competitors they seem to get things right so bonus points for that. When i use the beacon, with beacon connected to drone wifi, the phone app wants to connect to beacon wifi as it should. It’s easy to hand launch and catch the drone with the app. Flying control is acceptable, certainly not as good as controller, but sufficient to set up shots and tracking. Nice job Skydio. ### 5/5 — Amazing autonomy, (how to fix) update issues *2020-12-22, version 10.0.0* The Skydio 2 is amazing, super easy to fly and a lot of fun (just made sure you have a fast enough SD card - their website tells you what it needs). We had a lot of frustration before the first flight trying and failing to update over WiFi, but then found how to force cellular updates and it worked perfectly. Just go to Info (bottom of the screen) -> Settings -> Cellular Updates -> Always. ### 5/5 — Great app, awesome drone *2020-09-24, version 7.0.5* This is a very easy to use app, and an amazing drone. The app is very intuitive and straightforward. I’ve owned several DJI drones and this one eats their lunch when it comes to obstacle avoidance and subject tracking.
