On the calendar, it says September 1st for August 1st until you click on it. The day pops up with August 1st. For September, it is the same. It says Oct 1st and when you hit “Today” at the top, it goes to July 31st not August 31st. I tried restarting it, made sure it was up to date, clearing it, it won’t fix. ### 5/5 — Finally have it all together! *2026-08-31, version 2.21.0* I put off buying the Skylight for a couple of years because I’m not super techy…love my paper calendar and dry erase menu board, don’t love the calendar on my iPhone or Google. However, my hubby told me to give it a try and I’m so glad I did! It has streamlined our lives! All my teen kids being able to simply import their game and work schedules, I add what’s for dinner and check my lists from everywhere I go, and the tasks/chores has really motivated them…and me! Not sure how I remembered anything before using this. And it’s pretty in the kitchen, and not too bulky. Super easy to import from emails or flyers from school to update for events and birthday parties. I use the widget on my iPhone regularly. Everything transfers from the app to the actual screen and my family loves seeing what’s planned on any given day. Since then I organize my college, school events, church events, and my work and my husband’s. Sometimes the app can be slow when I check off tasks or add them, but overall I love meal planning, calendars, countdowns, and more! Doesn’t work. Tech support said to just use a browser. New phone and up to date. ### 1/5 — Great Idea. App is just awful, though. *2026-08-26, version 2.21.0* I can’t begin to describe the frustration with trying to use this app. I have 3 kids. I need to duplicate some tasks from one to the other, but there is no way to copy/paste a task or assign to multiple kids UNLESS you thought ahead to do it when adding the task the first time. After you’ve created the task, there’s no adding multiple assignees. It’s such a weird design choice. Not intuitive at all. Also, it’s a lot of tap .. and wait .. tap .. and wait. Not very responsive at all. Plus, the longer you use the app, the slower it gets. Eventually you have to kill it and start over, only to find that some of the settings you had saved were not actually saved! Like I had set a chore to be due at 5:30pm, but when I restarted it was set to 5:22pm. I suppose this was due to the laggy display update. Tried using on my mac.. crashes when picking an emoji for a task. If you make changes to a task and then switch its type from Routine to Chore (or vice versa) you lose all your changes and have to start enough. Ultimately, getting this thing set up and configured prior to setting the kids loose on it to actually use it is a nightmare. It’s easy enough for them to tap off the stuff they do, but it’s a pure terror to administer. This thing is desperately in need of a proper admin UI. ### 1/5 — Bait and switch *2026-08-24, version 2.20.0* I bought this (not inexpensive!!!) digital calendar thinking that the features they advertised would be included. Now all of a sudden basic features like a photo screensaver and adding recipes are part of a subscription. I’m so over the subscription model. Give me a product I can buy once and use for life. No way I’m paying for features I ALREADY BOUGHT when I purchased this product. ### 1/5 — NOW SADLY YOU CANNOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE FRAME WITHOUT A SUBSCRIPTION! *2026-08-23, version 2.20.0* It’s crazy what they do now! It didn’t require any subscription from the start when I purchased it, but now sadly everything changed, frame will require subscription, you can’t have access to your pictures anymore unless you subscribe. Be careful and don’t waist so much money on it! I would never buy it, if I knew that they would charge me every year for just using the frame. You are better off just getting a regular electronic frame. ### 1/5 — Charges for basic stuff! *2026-08-22, version 2.20.0* The Skylight calendar wants to charge you $79/yr to do very basic things like have a photo screensaver. It’s 2026 people, that’s a very basic feature! Charging extra for any of the features skylight has is insane. Very misleading advertising making you think you’re buying a useful product when in reality they’re getting you to buy a barebones product that beds a subscription to be useful. Buy a knockoff instead - all the features are included on them! ### 1/5 — New version won’t let me add video *2026-08-20, version 2.20.0* My main use for the Skylight has been as a digital photo frame for family videos. Since the last update, it gives me an error when I try to upload videos saying it can’t take anything more than 25 mb. I’ve uploaded dozens of videos much, much larger than that before. If this really is the new limit going forward, there’s no reason for me to keep my subscription 😔 ### 1/5 — Universally Awful *2026-08-17, version 2.20.0* App UI is next to unusable: days and times always need meticulous adjustment. UX is clunky and slow: why isn’t the calendar view the default when I open the app? Hardware is buggy. I honestly hate this thing. The day I convince my wife to just use the native iOS apps is the day I go Office Space on this thing with the biggest, craziest smile I’ve ever had. ### 1/5 — 270 dollar product should not feel like a “freemium” app with half the features subscription locked *2026-08-16, version 2.19.0* Half the options in the device are paywalled. I don’t want them anyway but it’s very annoying to be navigating a device we paid 270 dollars for filled with ads for a subscription service. It feels like a freemium app. Which annoying because of how expensive the calendar is. Only to realize 90% of the features are gated behind a monthly subscription. So they hide features advertised behind monthly payment on top of paying for the device. Very deceptive.
